Hello,
maybe you like to read a descent of one of the bestknown Germanbred broodmares have a winner in AUS.
The Frankly Awesome (!) (By Frankel) traces back to Allegretta, but not via "Urban Sea". Interestingly , the filly is bred 4x4 Allegretta and 3x3 Danehill/Machiavellian (Almahmoud/Natalma). It's the first horse in AUS inbred to a Family of my home Country.

Anzille had in GER the Sire Anzillero, All Pride and was later sent to the US.

regards, Ticino

Ticino, 28 years ago a filly named Azzurro won the Caulfield 1000 Guineas.

She is from the family that brought to the world Galileo and company.

Well one daughter did foal a G3 winner and has a few fillies to hopefully go to stud.  So there is still some hope.  Maybe one of them can go to a son of Galileo etc.

You never know Furious.  Mind you the Galileo - Azzurro gelding won 1 from 20, despite being brilliantly line-bred top and bottom to Anatevka, dam of Allegretta and great grand-dam of Azzurro.

But we live in hope.  Smile

Hello,
many thanks for all the info regarding "Azzurro" about  and breeding.

Yes, I have read about the branch which was sent "Down Under" and less than lustriuos "Career" even linebreeding didn't help. Sometimes you have to 'bred on' (2-3 Generation) until a certain damline gets winner after winner. Thats what make breeding so fascinating and frustating at the same time.

As example Danehill was enormesly succesful in AUS/NZ, opposite he was very modest with his offspring in Germany and he seems to be more of a "Broodmare Sire". On the other hand the Galileo/Danehill cross is one of the best in Europe.

regards, Ticino

Hello,
another daugther of the great "Allegretta" had a great weak in Europe.

Santiago (Authorized-Wadyhatty by Cape Cross) won the 'Irish Derby' 2020. (Ireland)
Motamarris (Le Havre-Thamarat by Annabaa) won Grand Prix de Compiegne, 3. Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) (France)
Half Light by Shamardal won listed "Prix Urban Sea" (!) (France

all are tracing to "Allez Le Trios" by Riverman

I noticed your article some time ago about inbreeding to Allegretta in Australia and I enjoyed reading about this family.
I have an old Canny Lad mare that is from Azzurro. She has been a wonderful producer and her latest foal is by Denman. Perhaps I should have examined the German connection more?

Regards,
Jan.

If Nazzuca is the mare then this list is very privileged to have the owner respond here.
The mare's offspring indeed produced a G3 winner in General Rippa (by General Nediym) who won the Blue Diamond Prelude (C&Gs) in 2012 at his first start. He then came 12th in the Blue Diamond.
His other wins were in Northern Queensland.

Nice to have you here on the list!

Many thanks for your responses. Yes my mare is Nazzuca. Would anyone on this site know how to find out about one of Nazzuca's daughters named Certain to Win. I know she went to the Philippines as a yearling and won 24 races there. What I would like to know if any of those wins were of significance i.e. Philippine equivalent to our black type races.

Jan

Hello,
it was surprising to see an old thread of mine realised some new info.

It's really astonishing, where "family members" of one of the oldest in Germany established damline, are now spread world wide.

During the last years in Europe some inbred/linbred descents of the "Allegretta family" had some success.
A shortlist I will do the next days.

regards, Ticino
