Amazing they were able to predict a typhoon happening months in advance and then set up an area for him to tour so they could release the photos months later to cover his death.

TYPHOON
MAYSAK LEFT NORTH KOREA IN SHAMBLES, THOUSANDS OF HOMES AND STRUCTURES
DESTROYED, ALMOST 60 BRIDGES WASHED AWAY, DOZENS OF CASUALTIES From Prof. RS "Rick" Duarte, Jr. * Sept.14, 2020 North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un called for prompt efforts to rebuild thousands of houses and structures destroyed during Typhoon "Maysak," which struck the nation's eastern region last week. Almost 60 bridges were washed away, more than 2 000 houses were flooded, dozens of public buildings were damaged, and more than 3 500 m (11 500 feet) of railway roadbeds were swept away. The storm reportedly caused dozens of casualties. Maysak
brought heavy rains to the east coast last week while the North was
still reeling from previous damage left by Typhoon "Haishen." KCNA
news agency reported more than 2 000 houses and tens of public
buildings "destroyed or inundated," 60 km (37 miles) of roads collapsed,
59 bridges destroyed, and more than 3 500 m (11 500 feet) of railway
roadbeds washed away. During
a meeting on Tuesday, September 8, Kim told a top committee of the
Workers' Party of Korea that the damage prompted the authorities to
"change the direction of our struggle after comprehensively considering
the year-end tasks that were underway." The leader ordered around 12 000 Pyongyang-based party members to assist with recovery operations in the affected regions. "We
are afraid of nothing," said party member Kang Chol Jin. "We firmly
confirm our determination to go to the typhoon-afflicted areas and
complete our missions as soon as possible." Kim
emphasized the importance of completing the efforts before the
commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the Workers' Party founding on
October 10. |

‘Time to prepare for war’ – North Korean leaderPyongyang must be ready to fight and win against all enemies, Kim Jong-un has said North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un (back C) visiting Kim Jong Il University of Military and Politics in west Pyongyang. © STR / KCNA VIA KNS / AFP The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea needs to be ready to fight and win a war, the nation’s leader Kim Jong-un said during a visit to an elite military academy, the state news agency KCNA reported on Thursday. Kim visited the Military and Political Academy in Pyongyang named after his father, Kim Jong-Il. The institution was established in 2020 to educate the most promising army officers. “Now is the time to be more thoroughly prepared for a war than ever before,” Kim told students and staff during Wednesday’s tour of the facility. “The DPRK should be more firmly and perfectly prepared for an actual war – which should be won without fail – and not just a possible war,” he added. Kim noted the unstable military and political situation in North Korea’s neighborhood and described the international situation as being “seriously aggravated due to ever-escalating violence and armed conflicts.” Photos released by KCNA showed Kim and army officials inspecting the “operations study room,” which featured a scale model of the South Korean capital, Seoul, and maps of the Korean peninsula marking the locations of US troops. If the US and South Korea opt for military confrontation, “the DPRK will deal a deadly blow to the enemy without hesitation by mobilizing all means in its possession,” overpowering the enemy with “ideological, mental, militant, moral and tactical superiority,” Kim said. Kim’s tour of the facility coincided with parliamentary elections in South Korea, which saw the ruling coalition defeated in a landslide. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and several top aides to President Yoon Suk Yeol have resigned in the wake of the vote, as did Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party. Preliminary results showed Lee Jae-myung’s Democratic Party and its coalition partner winning a combined 175 seats in the 300-member National Assembly. The Korean peninsula has
been split between the DPRK and the US-backed Republic of Korea since
the 1953 armistice ended the combat phase of the Korean War. No peace
treaty was ever signed, however. Almost 30,000 US troops are still based
in South Korea. |
