On 29th of February, that rich Saudi race meeting will be on. Will it be on TV at all?

A few horses from the Melbourne spring carnival will be running at the meeting.
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Good preview by Tim Carroll in regards to the big race meeting in Saudi Arabia tonight and in the early hours of the morning in Australia. From an Australian racing point of view international horses Magic Wand and Benbatl will be running in the main race on the card the 20 million dollar Saudi Cup (1800m) which is the richest race in the world. Also 2018 Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter, 2018-2019 Melbourne Cup placegetter Prince Of Arran, 2019 Hotham Handicap winner Downdraft and 2019 Queen Elizabeth Stakes True Self will be running in the Longines Turf Handicap at 3000m and this race is worth 2.5 million dollars.

What an amazing stallion Frankel is turning out to be with a Sydney G2 winning 2yo over 1200m, in the space of less than 24 hrs Clap

The 2021 edition of the Saudi Cup has been won by the John Gosden trained Mishriff (4h Make Believe x Contradict, by Raven's Pass).  Last year he won Gp1 Prix du Jockey Club.

Subjectivist, WOW!

In Australia he'd resume over 1200m.

Astrologist Dubai-bound

Australian racing fans won't have to wait until Royal Ascot to cheer on homegrown stars abroad in 2023, with The Astrologist set to head to Dubai next month to contest the US$1.5 million Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1200m) at Meydan Racecourse.

The consistent Leon and Troy Corstens-trained sprinter has been invited to compete at the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 25, which has an eyewatering prize pool of more than US$30m.

"It's full steam ahead," Troy Corstens said.

"At this stage all we've locked in is the Oakleigh Plate, the Newmarket and Dubai and then we're just going to see what happens after that.

"Obviously he's got to run well in the Oakleigh Plate and the Newmarket, you wouldn't go over if he's going to run 19th or wasn't right."

Having raced in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and, most recently Western Australia, The Astrologist is no stranger to travel and a trip overseas has been in the pipeline for several months.

Following his Dubai trip, a venture to Royal Ascot is also on the cards according to Corstens.

"It's always lovely to have a horse that's good enough to be able to even think about international racing," Corstens said.

"That'd be unreal (Royal Ascot), it's pie in the sky sort of stuff but it has definitely been discussed."

The six-year-old was most recently seen at the races in December when he impressively won the G3 $1.5m Gold Rush (1400m) at Ascot and has trialled well ahead of his return to the races in Saturday's Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Sandown.

"He's done some work down at the beach and he's come back really well, had a trial on Friday where he trialled very nicely and he's ready to go," Corstens said.

"Blake Shinn will ride him on Saturday in the Oakleigh Plate, it's kind of a first-up run, he hasn't been out of work but we slowed him down a little bit and just gave those feet a little rest."

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

Tomorrow night.

G1 Saudi Cup US$20 million making it the richest race in the world.

Instead of California having the glamour event of the Santa Anita Handicap, the best US horses will be vying here.

White Abrario (BC Classic winner), National Treasure (Pegasus WCup winner), Saudi Crown (Louisiana Stks winner), Senor Buscador (Pegasus WCup 2nd) and Japanese horses Derma Sogotake (BC Classic 2nd), Ushba Tesoro (BC Classic 6th) and Lemon Pop (JPN Champions Cup winner)  are there in what should be a ripping event.

A fine card on hand in Riyadh which includes the G3 Saudi Derby and G3 Red Sea Handicap over 3000 metres.
