A lot of Boxing fans are hyped for this upcoming fight July 29th

Between Errol Spence junior n Terence Crawford for the undisputed Welterweight Crown

Spence jr 33yo with a pro boxing record of 28 wins 0 losses is currently the unified welterweight world champion having held the (IBF) title since 2017 the (WBC) title since 2019 and the (WBA) title since 2022

Crawford 35yo with a pro boxing record of 39 wins 0 losses moving up through the weights n currently holds the (WBO) title

International Boxing Federation

World Boxing Council

World Boxing Association

World Boxing Organization

4 seperate belts in the one division SMH !

Not that hyped tbh but Crawford is the one imo that has incredible boxing instinct which just can’t be taught

Was the first undisputed champion at light welterweight since Kostya Tszyu (2004)

N became the first male boxer to simultaneously hold all four major world titles in boxing (WBA WBC IBF and WBO) since Jermain Taylor (2005) and as of December (2022) is one of only nine male boxers in history to do so

Both fighters have agreed to a lucrative 8 figure two-fight deal

The second fight will take place before the end of 2023 at which point the two fighters will move up to 154

$3.60 TAB for Crawford to knock Spence Jr out looks the bet to me !!

ERROL SPENCE JR

I like Charlo the dude can fight

But money talks how could he possibly refuse the $$$$$$

He’ll earn twice as much then if he took Tsyzu ON

Reckon Canelo will beat him tho the guy is a brick wall !!

Tszyu blasts Charlo for ‘ducking’ title fight as champ announces bombshell Canelo bout

In a massive blow to Australian boxing superstar Tim Tszyu, his long-awaited world title unification fight with undisputed champ Jermell Charlo has been ruled out.

Super welterweight champion Charlo (35-1-1) will instead move up two weight divisions to fight super middleweight undisputed champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs).

Tszyu is the mandatory WBO challenger for Charlo’s crown, and a bout was expected to take place in Las Vegas in October - giving the Australian a chance to become the 10th undisputed champion in the four-belt era.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Alvarez was set to fight 33-year-old Charlo’s twin Jermall, the WBC middleweight champ despite not fighting in two years due to personal issues.

But Tszyu was left blindsided by a last-minute swap as Charlo and Alvarez overnight announced they will face off on September 30 in Las Vegas.

The fight will make history as the first time two fighters actively holding undisputed titles face off in the four-belt era.

It will attract huge interest from a global audience and deliver Charlo a significantly bigger payday than a bout with Tszyu.

Tszyu reacted to the shocking announcement by claiming Charlo was ‘ducking’ his mandatory world title fight with the Australian.

He wrote on Instagram: “Canelo ducks Benavidez. Charlo ducks Tszyu #Boxing.”

Alvarez has widely been accused of avoiding a bout with his own mandatory challenger David Benavidez, a two-time super middleweight champ. Alvarez reportedly turned down an offer worth around $45m USD to fight Benavidez.

Alvarez, who has won multiple world championships across four weight classes, defended his super middleweight titles with a decision win over John Ryder in Mexico in May.

Meanwhile Charlo has not fought since May 2022, when he knocked out Brian Castano in a world title rematch to claim all the belts at 154 pounds.

23-0 (17KOs) Tszyu had been slated to fight Charlo for undisputed world champion status earlier this year, but a serious hand issue for Charlo forced the fight to be postponed twice.

Tszyu has remained active while waiting for the champion to heal - a high-risk approach, given a loss could have seen him plummet down the rankings and lose his shot at the champ.

But Tszyu took on a significant challenge in Tony Harrison in March, the only man to have defeated Charlo, and came through in impressive fashion.

Then he went to another level in a first-round demolition of Mexican Carlos Ocampo in May.

“There’s no doubt I’m going to America, that’s the land I want to conquer,” Tszyu said after that impressive win retained his WBO interim light-middleweight title.

“I’m not satisfied with his interim belt - I want all four and I want the name Charlo on my resume. Let’s dance in October.”

But that anticipated October bout has now been scrapped, robbing Tszyu of his chance to unify the division.

Given there was a September 30 deadline for Charlo to negotiate his meeting with mandatory WBO challenger Tszyu, it appears likely that the WBO will strip Charlo’s belt and elevate Tszyu from interim to a full world champion.

The WBO is the organising body under the most pressure to act, and could potentially strip Charlo of his belt as early as today.

It would be a disappointing manner for Tszyu to finally achieve world domination.

Tszyu has also repeatedly stated he was chasing a Charlo fight for reputation - the chance to beat the standout in the division - rather than belts.

Tszyu’s next fight is unclear. One option is Bakhram Murtazaliev, the mandatory IBF challenger to Charlo, who could potentially inherit Charlo’s belt if the IBF also chooses to strip that belt.

The Australian had reportedly been close to a deal to fight the 21-0 Russian in March before Murazaliev was injured.

Imo the money was the only reason he jumped at the chance to fight Canelo , who will destroy him , the big money will come for our man , he'll just have to be patient , dealers ane whealers and money , the good old USA , the ghost of Don King will forever haunt the world of boxing , I have only one fear for our man , that when he is the champ with all the belts that he doesn't contemplate taking on Canelo by going up to his weight div.

Six years to the day after defeating Manny Pacquiao to take the WBO welterweight title, boxer Jeff Horn has announced he's taking on his "biggest" fight yet.

Key points:

  • Jeff Horn famously beat Manny Pacquiao in a title fight in 2017
  • He says he's turned down offers of $1 million to get back in the ring
  • Horn says his next fight is to teach children and teachers how to combat bullying.

Standing at Suncorp Stadium where the legendary "Battle of Brisbane" took place in July 2017, Horn said he was officially retiring from the ring to teach anti-bullying tactics in Queensland schools.

"I've enjoyed my time, that's for sure as a boxer, but now I've got more important work to do," said Horn, flanked by his long-time coach Glenn Rushton, co-founder of anti-bullying charity Bullyproof Australia.

"My next flight is definitely my biggest, and it's personal, and it's to try and protect every kid," said Horn.

Anyone watching At Home With The Furys on Netflix? One thing I noticed is how unathletic Tyson's legs look while he's running.

Very entertaining heavyweight fight today. WBC Champion Tyson Fury vs former MMA Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou having his first boxing match, at his first fight in 2 years over 10 rounds.

Split decision after $25 chance Ngannou put Fury down in the second round.

I watched a video the other day of Evander Holyfield's career.  Must say I didn't realise at the time just how good he was. He was magnificent. You could even argue he wasn't a true Heavyweight - having to dedicate himself to putting on weight. Fast, pretty to watch & could take any amount of punishment.

Got to be right up there with the greatest Heavyweights on record

Why this weekend could be the start of something big for Jai Opetaia

Jai Opetaia has weighed in for his big fight night in Saudi Arabia, with British promoter Eddie Hearn predicting the boxing world will be witnessing a future world heavyweight champ in action.

Key points:

  • Jai Opetaia will fight Englishman Ellis Zorro in Saudi Arabia this weekend
  • The Australian cruiserweight gave up his world titles to fight in the lucrative bout
  • Boxing kingpin Eddie Hearn has hailed Opetaia as a possible future world heavyweight champion

The Australian cruiserweight, increasingly rated one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, tipped the scales at 198.4 pounds (90 kilograms) in Riyadh for Saturday's (Sunday AEDT) money-spinning cruiserweight battle with British underdog Ellis Zorro, who weighed in at 197.4 pounds (89.5kg).

The unbeaten Opetaia has given up his world IBF title to enjoy a reported $680,000 pay day on the undercard of the huge Day of Reckoning card, featuring heavyweight stars Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker and Dimitri Bivol.

Though the 28-year-old Aussie was hardly in the most loquacious mood at the weigh-in when asked about the fight which he's an overwhelming odds-on favourite to win, Hearn was on hand to talk him up, suggesting the Sydneysider would soon be joining the sort of heavyweight luminaries that were headlining the show.

Asked what the boxing world could expect to see from Opetaia, Hearn said: "You'll see a future pound-for-pound star, a guy that I think is going to be a multi-weight world champion.

The lineal champion tips the scales.

— Aus-Boxing.com (@ausboxing) December 22, 2023

"He is the best cruiserweight in the world, The Ring magazine champion, and you're gonna see a special talent, you're going to see a great performance, and you're going to see the future of the cruiserweight — and I believe one day the heavyweight division as well."

Opetaia, who hasn't fought since he outclassed another Briton Jordan Thompson in London in September, had been left frustrated he's had to give up the IBF crown after the governing body insisted his next fight should be a mandatory defence against Mairis Briedis.

But he sounded like a man keen to take out any irritation on the splendidly named 31-year-old Zorro.

"I'm just ready to get in the ring. One more day — and I've waited a long time. Let's go," he said.

"Just get in there and box smart — if the knockout comes, it comes."

Asked how he could beat Opetaia, who's operated at a completely different level, Zorro shrugged: "We'll see when I get into there, man, there's no blueprint, he's an undefeated fighter, I'll have to figure it out when I get in there."

Joshua, who faces Otto Wallin, weighed in at 251 pounds (113.8kg), 5.6kg heavier than the Swedish southpaw, whose only loss so far has come against Tyson Fury.

Wilder and New Zealander Parker will also go head-to-head in the other main showpiece, with the explosive-hitting American a lean 213 pounds (96.6kg) compared to Parker's 245.3 pounds (111.3kg).

Wilder, who has won 42 of his 43 victories by knockout, was adamant Parker had "never felt the power" he possessed, but the Kiwi promised an aggressive approach.

Devastating. Dominant. Brutal.

Scary, too.

That was some shot from Jai Opetaia.

Ellis Zorro is OK and back up on his feet, but it will take a long time for him to forget that punch - it was a brutal shot that landed with real venom.

The commentators are saying that Opetaia deserves to be in the pound-for-pound conversation.

Performances like that do nothing to dispel that talk. ABC
