Won the G1 King George Vi Stakes for the third time easily in 3 horse field in the rain.

Started 4/9on should of been 1/50on.

Dettori 7th win in the race matches Lester Piggott.

Enable won easily, thats a 3rd consecutive G1 King George Stakes win...she did what she had to do. But Enable is beatable in the Arc in October...she is no spring chicken. Regardless...her career has been outstanding. A champion.

3 runners in the premier pommy 12f race - disgraceful.

I've never seen a 3 horse Cox Plate, which is what the George and Lizzy is in pommy terms.

The Cox Plate is a lead up race to the Melbourne Cup.

The George and Lizzy is a class above that nonsense.

Japan would win a typical Cox Plate.

Remember the 2016 G1 Caulfield Stakes? Only had 3 runners in it. It can happen anywhere.

Really ?

Our racing management, if a race at declaration stage does not have enough runners, simply delete the race.

In England they keep the race even if it is a 2 horse race.

It is not disgraceful at all.

Many times they'd have been better races for being match races.

Moonee Valley should have a safety limit of 1.

He was very impressive, TJ. Officially won by 6½ lengths but it looked more than that to me!

Enable's half-brother to race Down Under

Racing Article

Karl Kaldawi@racing

, (

Champion mare Enable's half-brother Centroid is set to resume his racing career in Australia as early as this month.

A winner of two races in the United Kingdom, Centroid was bought by new Japanese syndication group Rising Sun Syndicate for 7000 Guineas at a tried horse sale in England in October 2020.

A galloper who has had his troubles with injury in the past, Centroid is now sound and Rising Sun's director and former jockey Kosi Kawakami is excited to unleash their 'bargain buy' on Australian soil.

"I think it was a great bargain. A really nice purchase from last year and he's coming on really well and we can't wait to see him racing in Australia," Kawakami said.

"He's out of Concentric, which is the same dam as Enable of course but he's a half-brother by Dansili.

"We bought him last year at a tried sale in England, we bought him for a really cheap price, 7000 Guineas, which is about $15,000 AUD."

Previously trained by legendary horseman and dual Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Dermot Weld, Centroid was transferred to Jane Chapple-Hyam before being transported to Australia in February.

His last-start second saw him beat home 2019 Melbourne Cup runner Raymond Tusk.

"We raced him in England with Japanese owners, so we gave him two starts, he ran second both times," Kawakami said.

"He actually ran against Raymond Tusk. He beat that horse and we just wanted to wait and see if he was sound enough and raced well enough to bring him here to Australia and he proved that, so we put him on the plane.

"We transported him from the UK back in February, he's been in Australia for four months now."

Kawakami admits that Rising Sun's original strategy didn't include purchasing a tried horse from England, but the opportunity was just too good to ignore.

"(Our goal) is to try to give an opportunity to Japanese owners to be involved in Australian racing, we're also trying to import some good, tried Japanese horses to Australia, so Australian owners can get their hands on some Japanese tried horses at a little bit more reasonable price," Kawakami said.

"That's why we set up this company to get Japanese racing and Australian racing crossed together. It wasn't part of the original plan to buy a horse from the UK, but we're open-minded, and a good horse bobbed up.

"We only have three horses at the moment. We bought Centroid, Enable's half-brother, and we bought two yearlings at the (Inglis) Classic Yearling Sale back in February and we are also planning to import a horse from Japan in the next couple of months."

Rising Sun has left Centroid with Ballarat-based trainer Matt Cumani, who will utilise the complex's uphill track, a training method the horse was used to in England.

"To start with as a syndicator, we wanted our horse to be trained with beach training or the uphill track. And we already had strong relationships with Aaron Purcell in Warrnambool and Matt Cumani in Ballarat, who had Suzuka Devious stay with him in 2019," Kawakami said.

"With this particular horse, we got him going very well at Newmarket with Jane Chapple-Hyam, so we wanted to keep him training on the uphill track.

"Matt (Cumani) knows British horses very well, so again, it wasn't a difficult decision to get Matt to train the horse."

Racing fans can look forward to seeing Centroid debut on Australian soil soon.

"(The horse) shouldn't be far away (from racing), probably about a month's time," Kawakami said.

"He's been galloping well; he's jumping out next week at Bendigo on Tuesday. We're just going to check out how fit he is and then we'll have to find a race, so we're looking at end of June or early July if everything goes well."

The sky's the limit for the lightly raced European import and even though he was a cheap purchase, the team certainly has high expectations.

"Yeah definitely (there's expectation), I spoke to Greg (Carpenter), he's going to be rated 70 I think in Australia, I hope he can go through the grades, and he should go on and be competitive in Listed and Group grade according to his form in England," he said.

"Maybe in the springtime, he might be able to sneak into a nice handicap race and you never know he might sneak into the Caulfield Cup. Hopefully, he's that good."

Centroid's sire Dansili has produced multiple Group 1 winners in Australia including 2015 Sydney Cup winner Grand Marshal and three-time G1 winner Foreteller.

"He's by Dansili and Dansili has produced a lot of Group 1 winners, the late-maturing types always come good at six or seven years old, so we have a really big hope with him," he said.

Both Enable and Centroid sport similar blazes on their heads but when asked if Centroid had any similarities to one of the greatest horses of all time, Kawakami laughed.

"I never met Enable obviously but our Japanese contact in England who knows all the English horses has met Enable and he found Centroid was so much like her, so we hope he's right!" he said.

"But he's such a nice horse, he tries hard, and we really like the horse, if he could be just half as good as Enable, that would be pretty good."

Juddmonte are delighted to announce that Enable has given birth to a strikingly-marked colt foal by Kingman at 3.54pm on Friday 11th February, the day before her own birthday. Enable has taken to her maternal duties extremely well.
Special moments are worth the wait!
