What exactly is the reason you want him retired so badly SD?

He is in good form and clearly still enjoying himself
Parades an absolute treat and receives nothing but praise from those who work with him

Popular mudlark Jungle Edge has been retired with trainer Mick Bell saying its the right time for the veteran sprinter to enter the next stage of his career.

The ten-year-old sprinter failed to fire on improving ground in last weeks Listed Wangoom Handicap promoting connections to retire the munch-loved veteran.

Weve always said when the time was right that he would be retired and that time is now, Bell said.

He could have pushed on because hes still very fit and well in himself and has enjoyed his racing all the way until the end and thats what weve always wanted for him.

Hes meant so much to us and we really want to thank everyone thats followed his career and has given him so much love and support.

The wet-track specialist finishes his career with $1,709,970 in prizemoney having won 18 races and placed 25 occasions from his 89 starts finishing his career as a multiple Group and Listed winner.

The son of Dubawi was a fan-favourite during his racing journey as many followed his and Bells journey as they tried to find rain-affected tracks all across Australia for him to race on.

He was also a massive comfort for Bell after his wife Bev died from breast cancer in early 2017.

Jungle Edge had his first few starts when Bev was still alive and had been a great comfort and distraction for us all including her in those last few months including some really memorable wins at Sandown.

Then six weeks after she died I took him to race in Sydney even though many said him and I probably werent ready to go and it would be a waste of time.

But he was able to win the G3 Star Kingdom Stakes beating horses like Impending and it was such a relief and fantastic moment, it really felt like Bev was with us up there and that shes been with us at many of his starts since too.

Bell says while the popular gelding is always welcome to spend his retirement at the trainers Cranbourne property, plans have not yet been confirmed where Jungle Edge will spend his following years with hopes he might even be given a spot at Living Legends.

Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing

He's one of the lucky ones of course, without knowing them, I'd say his connections will look after him well, the unlucky ones far outweigh the lucky ones sadly.

Thanks Shawy.

When I saw the unread post I thought "oh jeez, don't say something's happened to him" so it was a relief to see he's going great in a new environment.
