Not us, we were lucky enough to get in early. Out of our league now. I think last year a lot of services were kept for shareholders, even so, he was booked out? He’s getting lots of support and showing lots of potential. He does have a big percentage of winners. No doubt they’re being over the top, but what stallion owners don’t reach for the stars while they can?

Keeps getting winners locally. Seems to have an affinity for HK racing too.

8 runners in Hong Kong today. They seem to have taken a real shining to his stock.

A prolific sire of winners, he now has a Group 1 feather in his cap, go Deep Field! I predict another important sire of the future who didnt win a Group race himself. Especially now the better class mares start appearing on his doorstep.

I think his figures speak for themselves  60% w:r     2.8% SW   AEI  1.18
Make your own judgement but to be considered a leading sire the benchmarks are  >5% SW and an AEI
>1.5.  He has a long way to go
At present he is a handy sire who when priced right   $25-30K would be considered a good mid-range bread & butter investment.
That is not a knock but a market place fact. I would compare him with Nicconi, Magnus etc ( nothing wrong with that)

The market keeps supporting his progeny. Highest number of sales through the ring (105) and the highest multiplier on his 2018 service fee (7.5x).

Sorry, highest multiplier with sales > 15 in total

Kicked off the season well with an early stakes winner and the overall leading sire by winners (and 2nd on p/money). Could be a big Spring for himand needs it to justify the 88k.

How do you factor in relative mare quality into consideration when using SW% and AEI as a blanket benchmark for these (initially) lower end stallions?

His progression will be interesting, I think that his current SW% of now 3.2% marks him as likely (not definitely) a better stallion than Nicconi (3.8%) and Magnus (3.6%) when you factor in the facts that he is much younger, so likely has a higher proportion of his stakes winners 'coming through' than they would and that a few of his best horses are in HK.

But certainly interesting to see if he can maintain that fee.

Has 600-odd that are now five, four or three.  Plenty of winners including eight stakes-winners.  But only one high class performer thus far and with an AEI not far above above average.

As inferred earlier he's a truly great winner finder, but at $88k about 300% above his real value both in the sale yard and on the track.

Just imo.

Our DF filly is still here unbroken, still trying to choose who to send her to. The last filly we had broken came back with hard swellings on both back fetlocks. Some sort of concussion, she doesnt knock herself at all in training. Dont affect her, but still.....

I must confess I underestimated this bloke especially as he has found a niche market at present in Honkers
Bit of a worry though if you breed a filly at $88k
With 65% w:r, 3.5% SW, and an AEI of 1.19 he is proving to be good mid range stallion
Question mark on his progeny in proper Gr1 & Gr 2 races but that may improve if he upgrades his recent harems

Circumstances aside, a G1 Hong Kong Sprint winner sure helps the page.

3.5% SW/R & he is now at $88k.....

Also been a weaker 12 months at only 3.1% SW/R.

It is all about 'quantity' of runners.

Yulong Investments continued their unrivalled spending spree when parting with another $1.5m to secure another of Australia's most sought after broodmares, Macroura, at the National Broodmare Sale on Thursday.

Macroura is a three-quarter sister to Group 1 Surround Stakes-winning filly Sunshine In Paris who was sold in the same Magic Millions ring on Tuesday for $3.9m and her dam, Zenaida, who will also head to Yulong's Mangalore property after being purchased for $1.4m on Wednesday.

The dual stakes-winning daughter of Snitzel was one of three mares in the sale in foal to the recently retired Deep Field whose stallion career ended due to fertility issues.

Thanks Gay.  Most unfortunate.  He was quite fertile earlier on but 2021 was disappointing and it appears evident that 2022 was/will be a disaster.

His old man Northern Meteor prematurely deceased and now him prematurely retired.
