Leading Victorian jockey Dean Yendall will be transported to a Melbourne hospital after injuring his neck in a race fall at Terang on Monday afternoon.
The Victorian Jockeys' Association issued an update on Monday evening advising that Yendall has a fracture to his C3 and would be airlifted to Melbourne's Alfred Hospital. Yendall was dislodged from Saintly Rose ($11), who was leading inside the final 75 metres of the $25,000 Terang Co-Op Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate (1600m). Saintly Rose, trained by Damien Hunter, raced waywardly down the Terang straight when placed under pressure by Yendall, who adjusted his whip hand three times. When Yendall placed the persuader back into his right hand, Saintly Rose overreacted and shifted sharply towards the inside rail across the front of the field, unbalancing the 47-year-old rider. Yendall was conscious and moving his limbs after the fall and transported to Warrnambool Hospital for further medical attention where his C3 fracture was identified.
The fall occurred in Terang's third race, prompting the following six races to be held 30 minutes later than their original advertised start time.
Yendall has ridden 48 winners across Victoria during the 2021/22 season, placing him third in the premiership behind Damian Lane (59 wins) and John Allen (50 wins).

Yendall: I'm in no rush to returnLeading country jockey Dean Yendall says he is in no rush to return as he recovers from a serious neck injury.Yendall, who sustained fractures to his C2 and C3 in his neck in a fall at Terang in December, was on course at Warrnambool on Thursday wearing a neck brace and said he is feeling positive about his recovery. "I'm not too bad. Pain threshold is pretty good," Yendall said. "It's been four weeks but it's going to be a long process for the healing. "Doc said the fracture is the least of my worries, it's just the ligament damage. It's serious whiplash through the neck. I did C2 and C3, just the fractures. "It's a waiting game. I'm in no rush to get back. I want to get my health back and my body back to 100 per cent before I decide to do anything."Yendall said he can't remember much of the fall. "I knew there was something up. Christine (Puls) and Robbo (Craig Robertson) ran to my aid. I said I'm sore in the neck and got a sore elbow," he said. "I didn't know at the time, but I sat up and they pushed me back down to the ground. They knew something serious was there. "If they weren't there, who knows, maybe I wouldn't be here walking today."

Yendall applies for pro golf program
Veteran jockey Dean Yendall has been given the
all-clear to return to the saddle, but he's pushed further down the line
in his ambitions to play golf professionally. A
keen and talented golfer, Yendall plans to turn pro in 18 months' time
after signing up to a golf program aimed at developing players for the
PGA Legends Tour. "I've pushed further along the golf path; I've actually put in an application for a golf performance program," Yendall said. "The
guys at the PGA are pretty keen to get me in. I want to have my body
right to get stuck into it, I want to be fully focused before I go into
it. "Four days a week is golf, then you get three days off, so I might just be a weekend jockey and just ride Saturdays." After completing the year-long program, Yendall hopes to permanently swap the saddle for the golf clubs. "There's much less chance of getting injured on the golf course than riding racehorses," he said. Yendall has been recovering after a suffering a neck injury in a fall at Terang last December. The
popular rider has been out of the saddle since and, while still aiming
to return to riding competitively, Yendall admits there are no
guarantees. "The doctor was happy to clear me at my last
appointment, so (Dr) Gary Zimmerman had to give me clearance too, and he
was happy for me to make some sort of progress into riding," Yendall
said. "I got on one Monday morning, it didn't feel the best, felt a
bit uncomfortable going around, pulled up sore as expected, felt a bit
on the motion sickness side, which was weird. "We did some ear
candling that night to try and clear things, try everything under the
sun to figure out what's going on, my neck was ok, but I pulled up stiff
the next day. "The next morning, I went out and rode another one
at Paul Preusker's and was good as gold, felt good, just general
soreness, I think all my yoga and Pilates has helped." Yendall has
left no stone unturned in his rehabilitation journey, with the
48-year-old committed to a vigorous schedule that includes Pilates and
even a spot of gymnastics. "She's been smashing me on the reformer at Pilates trying to get strength," Yendall said. "My daughter took me to a night at her gymnastics to teach you what they do, and there's no way I'll be a gymnast! "We
were doing pull-ups, somersaults, the big bars where you jump from one
to the other, the next day I was so sore through my ribs and my sternum
and my core too. "Something you don't usually do and it really tested the limits. "I
haven't set a goal to return to riding, I want to be 100 per cent, not
just fitness but mentally wise I want to be committed to it."

Yendall commits to the saddleDean Yendall wasnât sure when he returned to race riding from a horror fall at the start of last season if a life in the saddle would still be for him. The 48-year-old spent eight months on the sidelines, much of it in a brace after injuring his neck, and treated his comeback with caution. âI didnât want to go chasing a manager and get halfway through and think âbugger it I donât want to do this anymoreâ, so I wanted to be happy, confident and committed to it,â Yendall explained. âI had been managing myself for a little while so I could ride where and what I wanted to. âBut I didnât have time to be answering the phone all the time, Iâd have to put it on call forwarding to my wife's phone (Christine Puls) which was easy enough but I had to mark out to her every ride I had.â Eight months on and Yendall has now committed to his riding career, after floating the idea of further pursing his golfing aspirations, but for now those are on hold. âThatâs definitely the aim, at least for the next five years to start off with,â Yendall said of his future in the saddle. âThe body is tickety-boo and the last six weeks Iâve been getting some management and structure in place.â Yendall has not only appointed Reece Murphy as his jockey manager but has restructured his network to now include a high-performance manager, racing analyst, personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach and a dietician. While still finding time to play golf, the Group 1 winning jockey is currently sitting in the Top 10 of the Victorian Jockeys Premiership with 65 wins.

In trouble for "inappropriate comments" in a post race interview again .... anyone know what he actually said this time? Previously he's been pulled up for "too much w**king" & having a "raging horn" lol.

Did anybody catch what Zac Purton said after the King Charles to Chantelle Buckley ?
That could be taken badly by the wrong person.

Wrong place, wrong time. Better kept for the jockeys room. But hey? Who cares? So sick of all the political correctness. How was The Voice even farcically politically correct? They couldnât even explain it but spent 360M
