Hello,
may I point out, Wonder Why's Sire is Tiger Hill and his damsire is Appiani. He has a familiar ring, his best offspring in Germany and later exported in our part of the world is "Star Appeal". Second, Tiger Hill's damline belongs to the same Family as Carbine,Musket via a very uncommon strain. regards, Ticino

AKEED MOFEED MOVES TO VICTORIA FOR 2019 Goldin Farms and Swettenham Stud are pleased to announce that Akeed Mofeed (Dubawi), a rising star of Australia’s stallion ranks, will relocate to Nagambie to join the Swettenham Stud roster for the 2019 season. Raced and owned by prominent businessman Mr Pan Sutong, Akeed Mofeed won the BMW Hong Kong Derby and the Longines Hong Kong Cup at four and the Centenary Vase at five, along with a Listed Race in Ireland at three. ...The historic Lindsay Park property in Angaston, South Australia was purchased by Mr Pan’s Goldin Farms where Akeed Mofeed has covered 338 mares in his first five seasons at stud. “Lindsay Park was purchased for Akeed Mofeed and he will always have a home at the property. His first season 2yo runners were more precocious and successful than we could have imagined from only 60 live foals,” said Andrew Perryman, General Manager of Goldin Farms. “We anticipate a steep rise in Akeed Mofeed’s visibility and popularity as those horses reach their optimal racing age. Having regard to Victoria’s broodmare pool, stallion availabilities and access to VOBIS, we see it as a positive and progressive move for Akeed Mofeed to be available to breeders in Victoria for the 2019 season.” “Swettenham Stud is ecstatic about the opportunity to stand Akeed Mofeed,” Swettenham’s principal, Adam Sangster said. “He really is a stallion with a huge amount of upside — he was third only to Zoustar and Spirit of Boom in percentage of winners to runners last season when his first 2yo runners hit the track. As the only Dubawi stallion in Australia and as already evidenced on racetracks, his progeny will furnish into much better horses at three and four. It is a wonderful opportunity for us and for Victorian breeders.” Akeed Mofeed currently has 40% winners to runners for the season including the Lindsay Park trained Poised To Strike, the Team Hawkes trained Heart Conquered (Track Record - 1000m Kensington) and Sunset Watch (G3 placed, 3 wins from 6), and the Phillip Stokes trained Assertive Play (undefeated at 2yo). With 11 of Akeed Mofeed’s yearlings available at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale and 17 of his yearlings available at the Magic Millions Adelaide Sale next month, his progeny are certain to attract plenty of attention from trainers and astute judges. Akeed Mofeed will be available for inspection at Swettenham Stud from mid-March and will stand for $16,500 inc GST. |

Bigger buying bench should be enough to lift his average to over $60k?
Would think he conveys good prospects if you can set the benchmark profit at $20-25k (assuming a rough as guts $20k for production)... enough to keep the wheel turning, at least.

There's another thread on this stallion.
He's going well despite relatively limited numbers and sold very well in Adelaide this year.

Don't know Oldflight, however after showing early promise he simply hasn't gone on with the job. Served a very small book last year and many of those few mares might have been owned by the HK syndicate that owns him or the services Swettenham might have been entitled to.

135 covers in his first Vic season, down to 34 last year.... as convenient as it sounds, perhaps it's a consequence of the 'Rona?
We would never know what their churn rate is, but Highland Reel (+65) and I Am Immortal (new, 116) must've eaten up a big chunk of his 2019 business. Either way, the farm's customer base have jumped off him awfully quick.

Hi All, Will sell at what ever sale they can, no system or structured organisational profile or management of this Stallion. Once returned from Swettenam to Goldin Farm, from my attempt to cover two mares to him, it was dysfunctional, different person each time, no on-flow of information, difficult to nail down expectations of how the mare was be produced, delivered, on farm, vanned. When re-inheriting a resource whether it be of massive value or a value yet to be proven, a consistent position from the owner or representative, is the basic platform on which to develop value or mitigate loss. These folks have no structured presentation of this basic understanding compared to established Farms, were you get sick of Old Mate calling you. This could be a reason why persons with a significant external investment in Australian Bloodstock, destroy money from afar. Now that the CEO / Statesman of Spendthrift has now departed (RIP) - (Massive commitment to the cause) Watch the scramble to recoup the money spent on the folly in Australia; (remembering each American generation is more insular than the last) Looking at; The Farm Suspect under-performing race horses (in oz) Turning them into Stallions Filly purchases that blow my little mind (cost) This could all be dust if Vino Rosso and / or Omaha Beach smash it. Both under appreciated in my humble. But Dirty Work at 19K is were they are really at, moving forward. (thank You W Pike) Just an Opinion Ciao For Now Baz |

The best of the lot you'd aim at the big boy sales. Plenty will go through Adelaide. Boss man might keep a couple.
