I'm rather surprised that Giant's Causeway's fee is as little as $85,000.

Has there been an across the board reduction of fees in the past few years, because of the economic situation?

Or is it a reflection of Giant's Causeway having good progeny, instead of great ones?

He is a dud out this way IMHO.
Giants Causeway didn't have the necessary attributes to make it here (phenotype).
Sure Coolmore panicked when EI hit us and packed up and left , but his legacy in the Sthn Hemisphere is one of promise unfulfilled.
His best sire Son was an (Shamardal) match of convenience and he should be judged by that alone.   In other words he is a sire of sires and a waste of a generation of fillies that went to him. These girls will soon be regarded as Blue Hen broodmares.
Argentina or here he is a dud , imho.

I believe that we never got to see extent of the ability of what may have been his best horse, Eskendereya, who was injured before the Kentucky Derby and retired, he was special. I would expect Eskedereya to be a highly successful sire.

In NZ his son Red Giant may turn out to be one to keep an eye on. From very small books of mares in the USA he has done reasonably well. I know of a 2 year old in one yard that is catching pigeons, considered to be the best juvenile that they have had through their hands.

Have to agree that he will be a broodmare sire of note.
