One of the reasons I picked three yearlings from the sales from the dam.  The breeder thought would cross to the RC's line and boy she did.  I just missed the best one!

Update
Taaffeite, born April 2020, 6x6 Best In Show through full siblings 5x5 Show Lady and Monroe (the six generation pedigree above)

She is now a 2yo.  She went to the trainer in mid-December.
I have not yet met or spoken to the trainer.  The boarding stud owner arranged the move to the trainer.
Monthly reports (with invoice attached Ermm)  say she is progressing well, is doing light work, and has a lovely personality.

Not so good is the filly's sire, Scissor Kick (AUS), has moved from France to Morocco (demoted)
His offspring had 27 wins in France in two years.  He was second in the first season sires table in 2020.

Prosperous Voyage by Zoffany out of Seatone by Mizzen Mast was second in the English 1000 Guineas this afternoon, beaten a neck.  The 3rd dam of Prosperous Voyage is Monroe (Sir Ivor - Best In Show).
Seatone was rated 79 in France, earnings Euro 11,900 with one win from six starts.

The English 1000 Guineas winner, Cachet is by Aclaim (fee GBP 6,000) out of Poyle Sophie (6 runs, one 2nd place, earnings GBP 866).

It is nice to see cheap horses doing well.

Clutching at straws, my 2yo filly, Taaffeite, has Mizzen Mast on her dam line (2nd dam) and Monroe as 5th dam.  And she is cheap. Wink

I visited the trainer for the first time since the filly went to him last December.
The filly is 16.1 hands. She has a strong torso. Her cannons are offset (bench knees) and she may not stand up to too much racing.

Well not Best in Show but decends from her 1/2 sister Stolen Date.  And has five lines of the family through Redoute's, Nijinsky, Try My Best, The Minstrel and Rekindled Applause.  So pretty potent.  The odd thing is a chestnut.  Obviously from Rekindled Affair (granddam) but maybe a throwback to The Minstrel who wasn't a bad representative of the family.

The Minstrel and Nijinsky line cross with the Redoute's, Try My Best and Rekindled Applause way back at Torpenhow a daughter of Torpoint who way by Trenton.  Her best daughter was Herd Girl winner or seven races and dam of Late Date 1935 Champion Handicap Mare and winner of 21 races which another son Clear Sky won 28 races.  THis is the line of Redoute's Choice.

The Minstrel and Nijinsky decend from Torpenhow's daughter Summit and she produced Apogee 1936 Juvenile Champion Filly and Uppermost a minor black type winner.  But it was daughter Firetop to whom The Minstrel and Nijinsky decend.  Firetop was also a chestnut and her best daughter Columbiana has a race at Hialeah named after her.  Apparently she was the first mare to run 10 furlongs in 2m02 in the Widener Challenge Cup.

Both lines proceed along the lines of improvement every generation.  Funny thing is Nijinsky and The Minstrel have alot of Australasian influence in their pedigrees.  Nijinsky has 7 lines of Darebin, and 4 lines of both Trenton and Carbine.  While The Minstrel one generation on from Nijinsky carries 12 lines of Darebin, 6 lines of Carbine and 5 lines of Trenton.

Thanks for the very good analysis of the inbreeding in Giga Kick.
He has the ingredients for a good colt.  I think he was bought for AUD 6,000.
Was it a planned pedigree?  It is a good pedigree.

A small extra link is Premonition (m) in his damsire Royal Applause is related to Nearctic through full sibling sisters.
Premonition (m) has Golden Silence (f) (Swynford - Molly Desmond) as 3rd dam (and Flo Desmond as 3rd dam of his sire Precipitation).
Nearctic (m) has Sarita (f) (Swynford - Molly Desmond) as 3rd dam.

It is interesting that the dam of Giga Kick was bred to Redoute's Choice five times, but when she was bred to the inexpensive Scissor Kick she produced her best foal.
I think Scissor Kick was exported to Morocco from France early in 2022.

I see the full sister has had one unplaced run in country SA. Were she mine, I think I'd try to cash in on the hype rather than continue to race.

Whilst I didn't catch the entire comment, I did hear, maybe on the Sun. morning RSN show, that the online 6k isn't factual. Apparently he was passed in at the Scone y/ling sales & Munz has had the family for some time (I do know that as I remember his Rekindled association).
However I've not checked any of those comments, hoping there maybe an article covering this aspect but so far, no go Smile
Breednet excerpt:

Giga Kick was bred by Munz's GSA Bloodstock, which also bred his sire Scissor Kick.

He is the sixth winner for the imported Royal Applause mare Rekindled Applause (GB), who arrived in Australia alongside his mother Rekindled Affair (Rainbow Quest).

Rekindled Affair (IRE) left two stakes-winners before her importation. Her first foal in Australia was hugely talented Rekindled Interest (Redoute's Choice), who won the Group II MVRC Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes and Group II AAMI Vase and was second in the ATC George Ryder Stakes and third in the MVRC WS Cox Plate.

end of the line for the 2yo filly mentioned above
faster work has made her sore. she is one hundred percent sound but her action has disimproved.
trainer says she would be a low grade handicapper.  i am taking her back to the boarding stud.

Hello,
I'm quite sure, the 'Best in Show' thread is already to find at pedquery. Unfortunately I can't track it down at the moment.

Here is an interesting coincidence, Arcangelo (BY Arrogate9, the "Kentucky Derby winner" and Redourte's Choice (Danehille) are bgoth tracing to "Best in Show". Arcangelo via Blush with Pride and Redoute's
Choice - Show Lady

Hello,
many thanks to Gay for "moving" my post to the thread, I could found (Best in Show).

Unfortunately I made 2 (!) mistakes. I wrote "pedquery" instead 'Thoroughbredvillage' (Forums) and second , Arcangelo (by Arrogate) is the "Belmont Stakes Winner", not "Kentucky Derby" EmbarrassedUnhappy

Maher snares star promising international

Interestingly this NH colt by Zoustar also has the Australian stallion Hurricane Sky in his pedigree and is line-bred to the illustrious Best In Show family.

Royal Ascot runner-up Zoology is the latest smart Flat runner destined for Australia after Qatar Racing announced they have sold a half-share in the three-year-old to Ciaron Maher.

Zoology, rated 110 after a career-best effort at Royal Ascot, was sold on a "purely commercial decision" according to Qatar Racing's David Redvers.  Redvers said: “After Royal Ascot, a 50 per cent share in Zoology was bought by Ciaron Maher for a significant sum and the plan is to aim him at the Golden Eagle Stakes in Sydney later in the year.

The son of Zoustar, who has already left Ferguson, finished with a flourish when posting a career-best effort in the seven-furlong Jersey to chase home 22-1 chance Age Of Kings, with some well-fancied opponents left well in arrears.  Zoology won two of his five starts for Ferguson.

I notice the retired UK sprinter Baataash (2014) (g) [25 runs: 13 wins) has Sex Appeal (f) (Buckpasser - Best In Show) on his sire line and Malinowski (Sir Ivor - Best In Show) on his dam line.

I had to edit Baataash's Wiki page as the gelding was described as an "active stallion".

What is interesting in Best In Show's pedigree is she has Plaisanterie (1882) (f) three times in her pedigree, twice as dam of Topiary, dam of Tracery (1909) (m) and once as dam of Childwick (1890) (m).

Plaisanterie (1882) (f) is by Wellingtonia (1869) (m), and what is interesting about Wellingtonia is he has two daughters of Pocahontas (1837) (f) very close up in his pedigree, Ayacanora (f) in the 2nd generation, and Araucaria (f) in the 1st generation.

As you probably know, Pocahontas (1837) (f), is famous as the dam of three sire sons who are everywhere in the thoroughbred:
Stockwelll (1949) (m) "the emperor of stallions"
Rataplan (1850) (m) his full sibling brother
King Tom (1851) (m)

Stockwell in on the direct sire line of almost all modern sires, and that fills all horses with sons of Pocahontas (f).

What Best In Show does is bring in the missing daughters of Pocahontas (f) to give the badly needed son and daughter combination.
Best In Show, with Plaisanterie three times, brings in six daughters of Pocahontas (1837) (9).

The Indian princess Pocahontas became ill as the ship taking her back to American sailed down the Thames, died at Gravesend, and is buried there.

Siskin (2017) (m), winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas in 2020 has Best In Show as his 4th dam and also in El Gran Senor sire of Toussaud, 2nd dam of his sire First Defence.
For some reason Weatherbys sent me a 2024 Sire Annual and I found Siskin in it, based in Japan.

Elswhere on thoroughbredvillage I mentioned top UK sire Frankel did well with dams by the deceased USA sire Empire Maker (Unbridled - Toussaud).
That mare Toussaud looks to be quite an influence, and as I mentioned above Toussaud (f) has Best In Show
