Just having a quick look at the Inglis Weanling catalogue and not Lot 56 (from Yulong) was born on July 19th 2024. I'm presuming this is a foal born well before it's due date. Would there be any issues with racing this foal against foals born after August 1, from a racing rules point of view and assuming there is nothing physically wrong with the foal (ie. it is up to normal racing) ?
I know it's not unusual for foals to be born a few days before August 1 but this case seems "extreme"

Covers don't legally start 'till Sept 1st now, as long as that's adhered to, foaling dates are largely irrelevant. Others breeding may be able to add more detail.

From my limited experience the only time foaling dates are relevant is when you are serving the mare again that season.
The later the foaling the more chance you have of negatives etc that can complicate multiple (sometimes) servings of the mare.

Just a few points from the Northern Hemp - depends if you are breeding to sell then everyone wants a Jan foal. Having said that they rarely win the classic. A champion trainer I knew well told me his best horses were late foals. Sir Ivor 6th May, Dancing Brave 11 May, Sea The Stars 6th Apr Its also born out of fact if you want more let me know I did analysis on English and French classic from 1960 until today

Don't ever get a 19th April foal. I ran last in every race at school. Except a three legged race when everyone else fell over. And funny enough I've downloaded many horses racing for the first time with that date as a birthday. And alot of them finished last also!

i'm with you there Furious. Be wary of the 12 sept horses when buying in the southern hem too. good chance they will be slow.

ππ Me too Furious. The only race I ever won was a 3 legged race! It was 100m and the field stretched as wide as a footy field. We won it by 20m. July foal π
