One of our greatest horses had a (GER) in his pedigree so we all see what's going on over there Ticino. But also you have stallions which don't make it to our neck of the woods. They usually come from England, Ireland and France in Europe so I it's interesting to see the different branches at work.

Hello, Furious,
there is some truth in your words! On the otherhand I spot some "family connections" in various AUS/NZ damlines. Admittingly very often many many genrations back, in other case surprisingly close. The best known imported German Sir was "Star Appeal" (by Appiani), bred by Baronrath Stud in Ireland, around that time a dependance of the "Röttgen Stud" situated close to Cologne. His damline is still represented in the stud. Another sire with was send to AUS was Zauberer (Soderini - Zauberfee by Kilometer), bred by Gestüt Bona, won the "German Derby" in 1978 in very muddy conditions. So far I haven't spot his name so far in your part of the world. regards, Ticino
