Probably Stayer

This Digital stuff is turning into a nightmare for many people. Probably more fear than real......but fear just the same

Not everyone is 20 years old

And here's the real problem.....it continues to improve bottom-lines of business.....so it will drive itself.

How it make life more uncomfortable for many will be inconsequential.

If you are using the wrong account details it won't matter where you do it.

My Macquarie Bank account was frozen yesterday.Shocked I had to spend 20 minutes having a ridiculous conversation with one of their anti-scam mavens.

I PayID my brother 26k over 3 consecutive days because they have a 10k daily limit. The PayID was in the payee list and I knew it was current. I could have rung him for  bank account details which has a 100k daily transfer limit but couldn't be bothered.

So on the third day they block the account. The Macquarie lady says there are a lot of social media scams where someone poses as a family member and that person, believe it or not, pays them without contacting them directly. I say, lady, you can't help idiots. There is one born every minute.

Then I say, lady if I was a scammer I wouldn't do it over many days with PayID at 10k a day would I.Confused I'd transfer it to my bank account, 100k at a time.

On radio this morning, a Melbourne GP had her and her childrens' phones hacked while they were sleeping. The phone numbers were changed and the scammers used the number to access bank accounts and for 2 step verification. $30,000 was stolen from her son's bank, will not be returned by the bank, $50,000 from her daughter's bank account, will be reimbursed.
Apparently the first part of the hack was through their computer. How did this happen, the victims didn't click on any link? The only thing I can think of is that someone used a public Wi - Fi at some stage.

Scary stuff.

Why cracked software is the primary infostealer vector

Infostealers like RedLine Stealer, Raccoon Stealer, Vidar and Lumma are overwhelmingly distributed through pirated software ecosystems.

Security telemetry from major vendors consistently shows this pattern.

When someone downloads:

  • “Photoshop 2026 cracked”

  • “Ableton keygen”

  • “Windows activator”

  • “Game bypass patch”

They are:

  • Running unsigned executables

  • Disabling antivirus to “make it work”

  • Granting administrator privileges

  • Expecting suspicious behavior (“false positives”)

That combination is a dream scenario for attackers.
