Wasn't there something about McLaren changing something mid-season that improved their performance?

There has allegedly been a lot of upheaval at Red Bull arising from Horndog Horner's shenanigans.

Was Newey at Red Bull during all those years of Mercedes dominance, 2014-21?

You have to admire the safety features of the modern Formula One car. Yuki Sunoda just walked away from a very nasty rollover crash during qualifying at Imola. |

I see the McLaren drivers are 1-2 in the standings at present, so I take it they must have the best car this season?

That's certainly the impression I've had so far but have only taken an interest in F1 since last year when Piastri showed so much promise. Good to see the team have given he & Norris open slather whereas last year, Piastri was often ordered to make way for Norris.

The last time an F1 driver won the title without the best car was 1986 - Alain Prost.

Sorry, but IMO F1 is the most boring sport God ever invented.
Get to the front and if your car doesn’t break down, you win. A bit like Moonee Valley😀 Give me MotoGP any day.

It certainly was a surprise to me that McLaren, were able to go from 'can't keep up' - even Ferrari were faster, to 2025 were no one can catch us, all this happened in one off season ? Okay Piastri showed promise at the backend of last years championship, so there is that but the sharp improvement is so hard to understand, particularly with red Bull hold all the aces and the best driver.
Even Norris is up there beating Verstappen. So is it the McLaren cars, or has Verstappen lost his hunger ? It felt like once Verstappen beat Hamilton for the drivers championship, then did it again easily just to prove it wasn't a fluke, he seems to have lost his hunger or attitude to winning ? Another interesting point is that when the new cars came out in 22 I think it was ? everyone was like yeah this is great, all the teams have a chance now, racing will be more interesting, they will all race closer and tighter, that lasted 2 seasons and we are now back to one or two teams streaking away again.

With Piastri on pole for the Italian GP we should see some fireworks at the start, Verstappen, Russell and Norris all behind him we should see something crazy the first couple of laps. Italian GP in the past has been quite interesting, Imola has some rather tasty, tight, hairpins that usually see some action.

I remember watching a race years ago and one guy won because his main competitor was on a 3 stop strategy rather than a 2 stop strategy, after that I lost interest.

Piastri is a cool customer and he's finally beating Norris regularly in qualifying. If he keeps out qualifying Norris he wins the title. Unless Red Bull makes an upgrade that works.

from abc news
Red Bull has sacked team principal Christian Horner after 20 years in the position, the Formula 1 team has announced. Red Bull said Laurent Mekies would take over the duties of chief executive "with immediate effect", it said in a statement on Wednesday, local time. "As part of his change, Alan Permane, currently Racing Director, will be promoted to Team Principal at Racing Bulls," the statement said. Red Bull sit fourth in the constructors' championship. |
