How does drinking a raw egg, two tablespoons of sugar, a shot of spirits and skulling a beer help mens mental health?

Might be a bit cynical but I suspect for most this is more about the social media likes than the issue at hand.

Bob Hawke did it 50 times a day.    His problem was he tried to be like the chickens .    But he wasn't laying eggs.

It's doing the rounds on social media currently.

Someone nominates you, you then have 24 hours to do the aforementioned or donate $200 to charity.

AA I'll be donating to beyond blue rather than go for social media likes if I'm nominated, I'm confident that'll give more benefit to fellas who aren't going so well than swilling down some egg, sugar, rum and a beer ever will, even if I don't get the 'likes'.

Eating a chicken before it's born , doesn't read well.

I'll settle for the alcohol side of the event.

Certainly some irony in drinking a substance to raise attention towards mens health when said substance exacerbates these problems.

Alcohol is widely used by many, who unknowingly are tranquilising an un - diagnosed Psychotic condition. ( Bipolar 1 & 2 especially ).

Often, Diagnosed alcoholics, are in fact , specific Psychiatric disordered.

Most on here ,       We are just plain Mad I expect.

I think this thread is worth raising after the sad news of the passing of Troy Selwood yesterday.

While no direct mention of suicide was made all news articles used the now familiar euphemisms around the topic, "passed away suddenly" or "passed away unexpectedly" or "was found passed away at home" with the usual parts at the bottom of the article suggesting you or anyone you know who is struggling call one of these organisations for help, with Life Line, Beyond Blue and so forth listed.

While I'm not certain of this is the reason for Troy Selwoods passing, why do we as a society continue to approach these stories in this way? Clearly for someone to take this step they've fallen to their own mental battles, why can't we acknowledge this, bring it out in the open and hopefully encourage other people struggling with such issues to be able to discuss it with someone?

I feel like the present approach if anything is only going to discourage people battling to try talk to someone as the feeling they may get is that nobody wants to talk about it.

The media used to, don't know if they still do, have a theory that it would encourage copycat suicides.

I think the media changed reporting on these events are reports of a string of copycat cases in a Victorian country town some years back.
