Match and series over. What is it with this country producing tests that are rarely a contest beyond day 3 session 1?

Smith is no good at chasing quick runs. When he tries to accelerate he usually gets out soon after. Which is why I've been surprised that they've paid big money for his services in T20 in the past. He's no good at it is he?

Some diabolical batting by the Kiwis gave this match on a platter to OZ.

If its a whitewash in Sydney then CA better think that it should be anudder 30+ years before these Islanders show up for a prime day contest...

2 of every 4 years the Boxing Day test will be either India or England. Of the other test playing nations we can rule out Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan or Ireland getting one for quite a while. That leaves Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa.

West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka don't offer much either competitively or commercially, they'll get one when there isn't another option. Realistically New Zealand could jump into the 4 year cycle alongside India and England, purely for commercial reasons. The next 3 summers have India, England and South Africa booked for tests in the dec-jan window.

Maybe CA will try have the Ashes every four years, India whenever possible (chase that golden goose!) and fill the 4th slot with NZ, SA or one of the others if nobody else is availabe.

Saw a post on Cricinfo yesterday, no idea if it is accurate but they posted  that since being cleaned up by Joffra Archer in England Smith has averaged 53 overall but only 29 against short pitched bowling.

Patterson is on fire this morning .
He bowled without much luck , earlier in these NZ disasters ( did get a few wickets ) but he sure makes them play the ball, which has destroyed the NZ 2nd innings .

Not really ( if you mean me PT lol) I had a friend walk in the door when I was posting , so held it to listen to his tale of woe about a beaten horse and it gave me the irrits as I hadn't watched a race preferring the cricket , anyhow hit the bloody wrong mojo too , it's the heat mate , it's wearing me down.

Shane Warne allegedly gets $7,000 per day to perpetually repeat himself covering test cricket.

And less than a week or so ago recently suggested (on no less than multiple occasions: too often is never enough) that Nathan Lyon should be rested in the Sydney test to give some tyro up and comer a go.

This despite himself never ever having been rested, and earlier maintaining (yes on countless occasions once again) that the Baggy Green should always be fully earned and not gifted.

Here's Lyon's figures today:

NM Lyon30.4106852.2100

Shane Warne: outstanding leg spinner, serial flog.

Lyons response summed it up perfectly, 'did Warnie ever have a rest to give MacGill a go?'

I am oh so glad that Lyon was not rested.  10 wickets shows he wasn't too tired to be an asset.
