Nice little win for the stable tonight with Burlington Gates.

Very sad.

His defining horse would have to be Xcellent. A thoroughly brilliant galloper.

Burlington Gate’s win today is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in racing.
I think she carried all our hearts with her.

Always an affable fellow, was generous and quite frank in an interview, so related well.

Sometimes after a reprieve you can think you're okay to go again like before; for various reasons ... it's a bit tricky to assess... hope that wasn't the case with Mr Moroney.

66 was too soon, well done anyway imho.

(had the Straight Six worked out well in recent years Wink)

I remember big Mike standing alone in the stall of his horse Araldo after the running of the 2014 Melbourne Cup. The horse was injured after the race on the way back to the stall and was taken to be put down. Mike was standing at the back facing the wall crying his eyes out. I felt so sad for him but it showed such a high level of compassion. RIP Mike.

Ballymore Stables

9h  ·
Flemington, home to Michael Moroney’s historic Melbourne Cup victory with Brew, will host a memorial to the beloved late trainer next Tuesday, March 11.
The Moroney family and Ballymore Stables invite his many friends to celebrate his life with a service overseen by Andrew Bensley to take place in the mounting yard from 11.30am.
Attendees can park in the members car park.
Michael’s funeral will take place in New Zealand, current plans dependent on when he can take his final journey home but at this stage Monday, March 17 is the date in which those in his country of birth can pay their respect.
Karen, Michael’s family and the Ballymore team would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love for Michael and for the many fond memories being shared. It has really helped at such a difficult time.

Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing
