Nearly every female athlete I look up on Wikipedia is gay. The WNBA has been said to be 98% gay, which I hope is a slight exaggeration.Shocked I wonder what the percentage is in other sports?

I'm not sure about the "gayness" bit - but by golly the women golfers are corkers. Some real natural beauties amongst them. Jeongeun Lee6 & her 60 sisters are all great examples

Monash University has conducted the first quantitative research, which finds nearly 90 per cent of female athletes say most people assume they are lesbians if they play sports such as rugby, cricket, football and AFL. It also found that many non-playing people – whether engaged in sport or not – believe there is a high proportion of lesbians in these sports (40 per cent for female respondents and 30 per cent for male respondents).

Responses compiled from five international studies taking in Australia and the UK conclude the actual percentage of lesbians playing these sports is, on average, 25 per cent – not a great deal higher than the 15 per cent proportion of the general population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.LOL

Need a similar thread asking this question about MasterChef contestants. Homosexual males on that show appear to be vastly over represented compared to the population as a whole.

  I played all types of sport at an intense and high level, and I'm not gay...

 but a good percentage of my colleagues certainly were.

 It didn't get in the way of friendship.

 I also covered tennis, as a journalist. There were many gay couples on the women's circuit, but not always the obvious ones. 

 There is supposed to be an expose coming out about how many gay guys play in the NFL.

 Who freaking cares...so long as they help win the game.

 Same with AFL, NRL, AFLW or any other sport. Sexual orientation is a person's own business...except if they allow a big beefy trans-footie player into the girl's teams...then it might become interesting...

 that comment comes from experience...I tried to tackle a six-foot-three male footballer, once, and came off second best with a dislocated collarbone...

 I don't know how some lightweight half-backs do it in the normal comp...

I remember years ago when I shared a house in Newtown with a gay male friend, and I tried to tell these straight good ole boys Ian Roberts was gay, as we saw him all the time at the parties etc. 
They simply refused to believe me. Its odd how strange some straight guys can be.
When he came out I had a great time shoving it it their faces.
Who cares anyway.
