And thats a problem?
When you look at history indigenous relations with others have gone BACKWARDS under successive governments.
Seems it hasnt suited some in power and for others to milk the social system and keep the under privileged just that
under privileged.
Does the Voice just do the same?

Aboriginal leader's harrowing account of rising violence just THREE WEEKS after Albanese Government patted themselves on the back for axing 'race-based' ban on alcohol in remote Indigenous communities

  • Ban on alcohol in Northern Territory Indigenous communities expired in July
  • Alcohol related injuries and violence have spiked since the ban was lifted
  • Aboriginal health advocate Donna Ah Chee is calling for alcohol monitor groups
  • She described the previous ban as 'positive discrimination' protecting women

The following is absolute cr@p from a Right Wing rag.  The type of cr@p HS is right into.

The reality is that the relaxation of the ban was announced by the NT Government, as it entirely a Territory matter.  Albanese has not had any part whatsoever in this affair.

Alcohol bans are determined, imposed and amended by State or Territory authorities.  Finish.  Here is the official notification from the NT Government:

NT.GOV.AU logo

Changes to alcohol restrictions in NT communities

On 17 July 2022, the Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory Act 2012 (Cth) (Stronger Futures Act) ended.

This means Aboriginal communities who were alcohol protected areas (APAs) in the Northern Territory (NT) no longer have alcohol restrictions.

If your community was also a general restricted area (GRA) under the Liquor Act 2019, the restricted possession and consumption of alcohol will remain.

The above clearly demonstrates that the following exerpt from the article downloaded by HS is absolutes rubbish in terms of Commonwealth Government involvement:

"In the first 48 hours after the Albanese Government lifted the ban on July 17, Alice Springs Police recorded 54 domestic-violence incidents with Aboriginal health advocates claiming 'things have not settled' in the three weeks since the restrictions were lifted".

Please stop posting misinformation otherwise you'll lose what scant residual credibility you enjoy on here.

One Nation has been stopped from registering 46 domain names involving names like ''voice to parliament.com.au'' and ''Uluru Statement.org'' because they are deemed to be cyber squatting to stifle debate on the issue. They also registered a number of business names to claim the websites relate to a legitimate business.

When you only have sh1t argument try to blow it up.

I don't about you , but whatever Senator Price, having being born and lived in central Australia, says about indigenous issues has far more credence than some bloke, who is an eccentric ex rugby player ( hope he is okay from all those head high tackles ) residing in a harbourside mansion , who wears a red bandana to attract attention.

FitzSimons is a dingbat of mammoth proportions...the moment he appears on screen, I change the channel.

I had contact with him through my brother-in-law...also an ex-rugby player. Some of his opinions made me want to tip a bucket of ice over his head. I do not understand what LW saw in him.

 Censored

Didn't catch the interview so can't comment.  However as far as FitzSimons is concerned he's more than entitled to express an opinion.

ps: he no longer wears that red bandana
pss: On 13 June 2011 he was named a Member of the Order of Australia for service to literature as a biographer, sports journalist and commentator, and to the community through contributions to conservation, disability care, atheism, social welfare and sporting organizations
psss:: he's been more than happily married to Lisa Wilkinson for 30 years.

The accusation wasn't on the substance of the discussion, but the tone. See above, he challenged it, saying he has the full recording as advised to her prior to the interview. She spat the dummy and said dont contact me again.

Her actions here, remind me of the Karen in Central Park who called the police on a birdwatcher claiming, he was threatening her.

Bloody technology, a girl can’t just lie anymore, to win an argument.

The Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory Act 2012 is a Federal Government Act that places restrictions on the sale of alcohol in some remote Indigenous areas . The Act had a ten year time span and that ran out in July this year. The Albanese government chose not to do anything when it’s term expired and now alcohol has returned to many previously dry communities . Not unsurprisingly domestic violence has spiked . I don’t think it can be described as either a left or right wing problem up there it’s just a huge general problem and ignoring it is perhaps not the right thing to do.

Despite that CV, surely FitzSimons does not understand the issues facing indigenous people as much as Senator Price, yet he bags her.
