Spud has turned up. Off to a shocking start in opposition he went to America and come back with a copy of the Qanon/MAGA/Republican manifesto. Peta hooked him up. Culture wars aplenty coming up.

Majority of Australia's environment in 'poor' state as Labor blames the Coalition for decade of 'inaction and wilful ignorance'

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-07-19/state-of-australian-environment-report/101247794

Australia's environment is in a "poor and deteriorating state", according to the latest State of the Environment Report.

Climate change, mining, pollution, invasive species and habitat loss are outlined in the five-yearly report that has been released on Tuesday, with Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek laying the blame squarely at the feet of the previous Coalition government.

Surely the decline in native species is due to our growing population and the suburban sprawl into which was once bushland. If the yellow belly frog or the blue eyed mistletoe bird has or is dying out that is the price we pay for our population growth.

It p1sses me off big time these clowns, from any party, being able to hide things they don't like. If a report comes in it should be published not held at the convenience of politicians.

And what is it I hear about Labor using cabinet-in-confidence BS, Tory style?

Sure , but if the yellow belly frog only lived where development had taken place, what do expect the government should have done , round them all up and move them to some waterhole up the road ?

Is the withheld Barilaro stuff part of or potentially part of the recent referral to ICAC of the handling of his job ''application''?

Wouldn't it be easier to discuss what great initiative's the Govt has actually locked in instead of jabbering on about the the Opposition !

Oh that's why - there actually isn't anything ?

And why does Jim keep banging on about INCREASING childcare subsidies as a priority cost saving measure ? I mean i get in theory it puts more women into the workforce - however its a bit of a long bow don't you think ?

Another soft option. Give money out & in order to lot more back LOL

Sounds a bit like the old chestnut that for every $1 foreign aid spent you get $2 back LOL

& that was the first "cost saving" measure he spoke of yesterday. The next one was SPENDING a fortune on green technology (still to be decided LOL ) in order to save money

Bit of a pattern starting to develop don't you think ?

Everything on the never, never LOL

This seems to be a theme that you’re quite passionate about.

But somewhat puzzling that you’ve only held this passionate belief for less than a few months.

Was there any particular moment in the past few months, that gave you this zealotry?

Now that labor has blamed the last ten years for the demise of koalas
Tanya is going to put a stop to land clearing and let the koalas live in peace.
Good.

Well when Jim uses Increased Child Care & Green Transitioning as his 2 best examples to reign in the debt it makes one wonder a bit. I suppose the upside for Jim is when they may actually have some impact (big ?) - in 10 to 20 years the comment will be long forgotten - & almost impossible to measure to boot. I mean kids have been around for a long time - as have women in the workforce - so you would have thought if there was so much money in giving MORE childcare it would have been done earlier. Just a question though - when all these women enter the workforce - & things change - & unemployment starts to rise - wont some of these women then get unemployment benefits ? I'm sure that would be all costed in.LOL

Neither of those initiatives would be classed as hard or challenging. When are they actually going to do SOMETHING unpopular to save a quid ?

It would be a dead loss trying to get you back into the workforce - that's for sure LOL
