A prominent Qld trainer has had an apparent heart attack in the tie-up stalls at Doomben, he has been worked on by medical officials and has left the course conscious in an ambulance. His wife at this point has asked he not be identified as family members have yet to be told

Caulfield track rather better/firmer than I thought it would.  Might regret giving Red Can Man the big bag.

Well thank goodness I laid Red Can Man for a fair result because my quad selections have been awful thus far.

memo to self: you were very fortunate today, how many times have you told yourself not to place your bets before seeing how the track's playing.  Ermm

He is the worst caller in Victoria. Would much rather Adam O be calling in town when Matt is away.

Agree Adam O is very enjoyable racecalling voice & clearly No 2 behind Matt Hill in the active Vic calling ranks.

Actually wish Dan Mileiki would get thoroughbred gig again.  Seems to have been pigeonholed as a trots caller.

That usen’t to be an issue.  Can remember greyhound callers doing holiday fill ins.  Rob Testa filling in for Bryan Martin in Melb & Paul Ambrisoli filling in for Ian Craig in Sydney.

“Lucky” trainer on mend after surviving apparent heart attack at Doomben

Veteran Queensland trainer Gary ‘Jack” Duncan had surgery on Saturday afternoon after being revived when he suffered an apparent heart attack at the Doomben races.

Shocked racing participants watched on as Duncan collapsed in the tie-up stalls after race one, with medical officials working frantically on him.

Grave fears were initially held for his health but he left the course conscious, in an ambulance, and accompanied by his wife Megan.

Stewards delayed the races while the drama unfolded.

There was positive news on Saturday night with Australian Trainers’ Association (Queensland) representative Cameron Partington advising: “Good news for Jack Duncan.

“He has had surgery and is resting now and will stay in hospital for four to five days.

“He is very lucky it happened at the track with the ambulance so close.

“Our best wishes are with Jack, Megan and the family.”

Duncan, based on the Sunshine Coast, had four runners at Doomben on Saturday.

He hails from the Queensland bush and formerly trained at Atherton in far north Queensland.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

Heard a radio interview with him on Saturday morning. Wish him all the best.
