And what you've only just realised that now after me and others such as JudgeHolden saying this for years and years - Aust racing at 1600m+ is not strong depthwise and hasn't been for 10 to 12 years. We have become obsessed with speed - sprints

Six wide out of the straifgt, then three wide, went "early" and then gave them an absolute flogging.  Just superb.

My goodness tough tough tough.  I picked three of his syblings out of the sales because that mare had a broodmare pedigree.   Didn't get this and he's the best by far.  That was amazing.

They'll probably swab the winner, and get a negative result.

As for Moods, don't think he'll be risking a blood test tonight.

The only negative about this horse is one or two of his owners. That of course is not his fault.

Well why can Miss Argyle (only 2 starts and 2nd in the Gimcrack) produce a pure stayer.

Because our sprinters have very deep pedigrees and lots of staying in their pedigrees.

Sire Iglesia sprinter - Silver Slipper and his sire Last Tycoon also a sprinter but he is a son of a Mill Reef mare and she is a 1/2 sister to an Irish Derby winner.  Last Tycoon is also from the family of Herringbone and Marthead (both St Leger winners)

dam of Iglesia produced Yippyio - Brisbane Cup, Queensland Derby and 2nd Melbourne Cup

The dam of Miss Argyle also is by Semipalatinsk who got plenty of stayers and he is a grandson of Noholme who could go a middle distance.  While her dam is by Head over Heels a grandson of Epsom Oaks winner Never to Late.

Next dam by Aloe sire of Dalrello and Mode (Brisbane Cup) and  Aloe's sire Alycidon won stakes races over 20f and 16f.

Next dam by Coronation Boy (miler), followed by Felstead (Derby), Lemberg (Derby), William the Third (20f, 16f) and then Carbine who you all know.

So no he might look like speed on speed but look further and see we can produce stayers with pedigrees like this.

It just shows that Greg Carpenter got the weight (55.5kg) right for Incentivise. Plenty here were not happy but Carps got it spot on.

Might And Power carried 52.5kg in his 1997 Caulfield Cup win.

What on earth would you back him up into next week? Surely not the Cox Plate (far too short now) or the MV Cup? Confused

In view of the jockeys' comment? Confused

"I was surprised, he came off the bridle a bit sooner than I would have liked. I showed him the whip before the home turn. All that is telling me is look out Melbourne Cup. He is going to eat up the 3200m."

whoa, hold on team, this was the worst cup field in yonks, a toppy with 55-5, it's not the horse, he has to beat what's put in front of him, but, and it's a big but, if he goes to the Cox Plate, and horses have done it before, he might have to put away a very good 3yo getting a huge weight differential, his name is Anamoe......the Valley will test him, the pressure goes on at a very early stage there, if he wins the Cox Plate we could say he's a super good horse, but with no European raiders, we can't go the Champion tag yet, ....correct?

There are no good 3yos. Anamoe is very average by top class 3yo standards.

Anamoe should not scare anybody away.
