They've been targeting this race since he won the G3 in Qld in the winter, why pull the pin now?

If they pull him out and he runs in the Cox Plate it would be embarrassing for racing.

It just should not be allowed.

Well a boring CC just got a bit more interesting anyway. Hope there aren't a bunch of jocks keeping Incentivise wide the whole way. Can't see enough early speed to worry about it really though.

I see at least Homesman, Quick Thinker and Delphi going forward from their gates.

Yeah and I guess Prebble will follow Delphi and try to slot in somewhere decent.

The barrier (18) is tough but its not completely game over. Incentivise will have to go forward. But he doesn't have to lead. He could 5 or 6th in running.

Quick Think will go forward but will he lead? I'm not sure he will. He will be top 5 to top 7 I think. I dont think being the leader would be a good idea otherwise he will be a sitting duck with 250m to go

Well, er, it's the Caulfield Cup, not a BM88 on a random Saturday.

Given he is likely to lead or at the very least be within a length of the lead surely 18 is a better gate for him than 1?

The barrier isn't a problem the horse is good enough to sit outside the leader and still win. Should probably be ridden that way but Prebble in fine form will leave it to him.

I just backed Duais at $20, will wait for Incentivise to drift to $3 and hit it hard. That should do me.

It's certainly increased the excitement level for those who got on early at longer odds.Tongue

Fully agree. I’m sure the connections are not even thinking about scratching. It would be a moronically dumb decision

I think the draw suits him

Agree. I doubt it matter too much. He might be wide into the first turn but that’s about it. He’ll slot in somewhere near the front you’d think. In any event, they have the most inform jockey on board so leave it to him. He’s seeing them like beach balls at the moment.

The possibility of a heavy track is looming, he has won by a small margin in a class 2 prov race. (soft 7)
Do you think a heavy track will be a negative?  + the barrier draw, I'd pull the pin.

Another way of looking at it is that a REALLY heavy track might give a legitimate excuse for scratching... Hope not.

Why would you scratch from a $5m race that has been the target all along?

The options are there, he is nominated so, it must have been in Moody's mind to cover all bases.

If it is a heavy track that will be the end of the campaign win lose or draw. If saved for the Cox he might have enough left to go for Mackinnon too.

Why a waste of time? He can stay and he has a good sprint finish. He won't get much weight (at this stage) I should think a worthy contender.

I actually agree with Tlaz, I feel like he is a mile to 2000 horse at the top level and that demolition job in Brisbane was more on class than staying ability, anyway I hope he runs Saturday so I can be proven either correct or incorrect.

What is this pull the pin because of the barrier/track rubbish?  LOL

It's a Caulfield Cup fiddlesticks and the horse has is 4/4 on the slow.

More to the point, if the track is a bog track its probably an advantage to draw wide.

This is the worst cup field I can ever remember, a top weight with 55-5, running for 5 mil, it's an insult to our senses, no fault of the contestants though, good on em, just a reflection on our stying ranks and the covid scenario's.......
