Anyone thinking the week later autumn in Sydney has had anything to do with the field assembled?

It (the Sydney autumn) is now in the old part of the year and just look at the 1990's fields.

1990 - Solar Circle, Rough Habit, Shuzohra, Planet Ruler, Apollo Run and Stargazer.
1991 - Rough Habit, Comrade, Aquidity, Stargazer, Domino.
1992 - Rough Habit, Kinjite, Captain Cook, Aquidity, Mercator.
1993 - Rough Habit, Kiwi Golfer, Slight Chance, Surfers Paradise,.
1994 - Durbridge, Paris Lane, Subzero.
1995 - Danewin, Turridu, Arborea, Brave Warrior, Rough Habit, Ivory's Irish, Air Seattle.
1996 - Juggler, Doriemus, All Our Mob, Stony Bay.
1997 - Shame, Iron Horse, All In Fun, Summer Beau, Yippiyio, All Our Mob, Ravarda, Sharscay,
1998 - Might And Power, Intergaze, Summer Beau, Sapio, Marble Halls.
1999 - Intergaze, Lahar, Yippiyio, Marble Halls, Istidaad.

That is at least five genuine sydney/melbourne carnival group 1's in each edition.

I would argue that no edition this century has had that level of genuine group 1 sydney/melbourne gallopers. Maybe 2011 and 2013.

If we had had a normal sydney autumn this year I would guess that Avilius, Mugatoo, Fifty Stars, Toffee Tongue and Nettoyer would not be here.

2021 a very good field. With the exception of Verry Ellegant, Dalasan, Think it Over, Russian camelot, Arcadia Queen and Homesman (Australian Cup winner), just about the best field we can muster.

Five of the twelve were bred in the Southern hemisphere.

Just embrace the race.

Unless I've missed the point, I counted 7, not that it detracts from the race one iota Confused

Fifty Stars scratched on vet advice. Nothing serious action just not 100%. Off for a spell.

I thought it was M&P. Had the impression the Doomben Cup win was before Cox Plate win. I had the M&P/Intergaze quinella - paid more than the forecast. Early days of internet on dialup. Wanted to put $200 on it but ended up with $400 on it because I didn't know if first hit took. Mind you that was after being $1000 down on NSWTAB because winning bets got lost in worldwidewait.

That was as dominant a win as you would ever see. It doesn't seem that long ago I took Zaaki as my sub for the Doncaster in the Roughies comp. He was showing $101 at the time!

Won well and won easily.
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

I've just watched the replay for the 8th time. What was the story with Mugatoo?
