Alright lets see what we make of Mr Future of Racings views. 1. If you have something costing you money and it is not working and you can not fix, it get rid of it. Right so let me see if I have this right. Because the Moir Stakes and Manikato have been affected by the Everest, we get rid of these two sprints. Because the Caulfield Guineas has been affected by the Golden Rose and to a lesser extent the Coolmore Stud Stakes, we get rid of the Caulfield Guineas. Because the ATC moved the Randwick Guineas to 1600m and on the same day then a week later we should get rid of the Australian Guineas. Because every wfa race (okay lets say 80%), have dominant favorites that stifle betting we should get rid of these WFA races or stop Verry Elleegant running in them. The idea to overcome this is to adapt. The BRC are giving owners and trainers the option, Now if the owners and trainers are so stupid that they do not realise which runners to run here then that is not the clubs problem. Mirage Dancer, Quick Thinker, Le Don De Vie, should all be at the 3200m instead of 2200m, but that is not the clubs fault. 2. If you are or you have been a successful jockey who has had a huge amount of success then this second sentence might be correct, but I can guarantee you that part of the reason some trainer out at Mildura, or Mt Gambier, or Goondiwindi and Broken Hill, are not in it for anything but the love of horses and the 'romance". Just because Boss and his fellow jockeys think that the Slipper and the Everest are the best races because of the prizemoney, that does not mean the racing industry are of a similar mind. He will also probably point to the media coverage and the crowds that go to the track for those meetings, but that does not mean anything because most of the crowd who go to those two specific meetings are more worried about what brand of champagne is on the table than who is going to win the fifth race on the card. Romance is a word people use when they really do not care about the history or tradition of something. I could not care less about romance of the turf or whatever they name it, I just care about good racing and as we all know not having stayers, bred or racing in Australia, has eroded the popularity of our staying races with the non-racing people. How many race clubs in Australia run at a profit? And how does not running one 3200m race a year, make a huge difference to your financial bottom line? 3. You don't really need a 3200m handicap at this time of year because we have plenty of them already. UUUUHHHMMMM excuse me. I must have slept through the four group 1 3200m races that have been run over the last 4 weeks. Oh sorry we had the Adelaide Cup, 3 months ago, Sydney Cup just on two months ago and the Andrew Ramsden a few weeks back. And we do have that Stayers Cup at Rosehill coming up in July. Again it comes down to the trainers and owners. Only one horse will win a Melbourne Cup, but the owners of Persan, Sound, Grand Promenade, South Pacific, and others who ran in the Auckland Cup, Adelaide Cup, Sydney Cup and Andrew Ramsden, should have been running there horses here. I do not mind Glen Boss speaking about issues, but I seldom agree with what he has to say, because he is a jockey, and like all participants in any sport, he has his own agenda, which sometimes or a lot of the time is not always the best for the sport.

The Brisbane Cup has not been run at 3200m since 2006. It seemed a strange idea to raise it this year back to 3200m unless someone thought there was a need with the influx of overseas stayers now here.

So jockeys allegedly have their own agendas?
Owners, trainers, racing journalists etc and members here are all entitled to and be respected for their views, but not a jockey who conceivably would have far less personal agenda? That simply doesn't wash imo.

So when we have clashes such as the Futurity over 1400m at WFA on the same day as the Peter Young over 1800m at WFA, or the G1 Toorak over a mile on the same day as the G1 Caulfield Stakes over 2000m or the Canterbury Stakes over 1300m at WFA on the same day as the Challenge over 1000m at WFA on the same day, or the Coolmore Stud, Phar Lap and Ajax Stakes on the same day all over 1500m at Rosehill, or the Rosehill Guineas and Rawson over 2000m and the Ryder over 1500m, both G1 WFA races all on the same day, or the Doncaster and TJ Smith on the same day, or the Sydney Cup and Queen Elizabeth on the same day...
I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture, get with the times Bossy, there is 1000m difference in distance between the races, just give it time and let them develop and find their place.

It's different for staying races because the pool of talent in this country is much, much thinner. Not agreeing with Bossy though whose reasoning was terrible.

Is 2200m really a stayers trip?
A few of those in the Q22, with Quick Thinker and Warning coming immediately to mind, would be better suited to the Brisbane Cup however differing purses sees them both go to the richer race.
