After all of this surely they have to look at the concept of a President being defeated at the polls in November and staying in power till the end of January ? I think I said on here somewhere that the US system relies on a defeated President being on honourable man but we’re seeing now what happens when instead you have a nutcase like Trump! It’s a bit late now to talk about the 25th Amendment . Should have done it in November

Agree. No doubt about that one IMO. Probably a case that if he had have managed the COVID crisis even semi-decently he’d be getting inaugurated in 2 weeks as well.

That is some sort of admission.
I see finance figures for USA are powering.

No confidence in Biden?
The piling on is breathtaking.
Michelle obama has joined in; many just dont know when to stop with inflammatory speeches.
the chaos continues.

Yes, as from November 2016 The Dems have continued to disgrace themselves as well. There will be no end to the issues over there until, sadly, someone in power is murdered.

Very good comment from someone in the SMH on this

There is no chance of a political detente in the US. More than perhaps ever before - political opposites in the US despise each other.
To varying degrees, this is found in other democracies; it's not confined to the USA – and, importantly, it’s not ‘an aberration’.
1.
Quite evidently, Americans do not agree on the best solutions to their nation’s biggest problems.
Even more fierce, their feelings of distrust, dislike and disdain for those who support the opposing political party.
Democrats and Republicans have developed a harsh antipathy for their political opposites – and this is driving US societal divisions.
2.
A recent study published in Science, (Eli Finkel) explores this issue. The adherents to one party increasingly see those who vote the other way as not just different - but less moral, less trustworthy and unrecognisable to them.
“It’s not just they are in a different group,” reports Finkel. “They’re alien from me, they’re highly unlikeable and they’re doing immoral things. That creates the sectarian disaster.”
3.
These personal antipathies are driven by three trends.
(i) The rise of partisan media and social media (people live in information and opinion bubbles - it makes those with opposing views seem more abnormal).
(ii) The tendency of political operatives to identify and emphasise cudgel issues to make adherents of other parties seem less humane and on the side of evil.
(iii) The rise of the “mega-identity” – where personality traits and beliefs are brought in line with a political identity.
4.
“For the first time in American history, immigrants, African Americans and other marginalised communities, LGBT all align with one political orientation."
Finkel elaborates on this theme: “This is one of the major elements of othering. This highly multicultural party is a little difficult for some people who for several generations have lived in the same rural community and are European-American. They find them increasingly odd and different. At the same time people in the multicultural party feel like, Well, you guys are not what America is now".
5.
This “mega-identity” works like a religion - in which adherents to a set of beliefs have strict rules for inclusion and regard those who only abide by some of the rules as apostates. The researchers call this phenomenon “political sectarianism.”
So
People will have to employ something better than condescension and derision - to bridge this ever-widening gap; something other than throwing insults - to stop the other side from doing the same!
Truly; it seems an impossible task- never the twain shall meet.

He certainly ain't going to finish the wall, maintain tax cuts for the rich, and continue Trump's isolationist "policies".

Unfortunately he will be on the things that matter. At least the “white noise” will be gone. That’s a positive. Australians can go back to being ignorant of USA politics

I know you’re a little punch drunk at the moment and that’s understandable after ably stepping up to fill the shoes of Doc & “You know who” as forum play thing, but you really should try to make your posts at least half factual. I have often posted comments criticising both sides including many where I said that Biden was a dreadful candidate and worse. I realise that as a fully fledged Trumper you are unable to say a bad word about your team but for most of us that’s quite easy. Don’t assume everyone else operates to your own low standards.

Joe Biden must thank God every night for providing "Train-wreck Trump" as his opponent, surely he could not have done it without Donald.

so, according to Biden, Trump is an embarrassment to the world.
who in the world will support that?
and the division continues.
Biden should shut up and concentrate on governing his country
not contributing to the continual pile on.
he and pelosi are "good" team.
