Naming your horse after a procedure that involves a tube being inserted in one's anus is an odd play to say the least.

But that's exactly what the owners of Kiwi horse Colin Oscopy - yes Colin Oscopy - have done.

'Colin' made his debut at Matamata in New Zealand on Wednesday, and unsurprisingly set social media alight.

The Samantha Logan-trained four-year-old actually ran quite well at big odds, hitting the line nicely for fourth, but it was his bizarre name that dominated post-race chatter.

You're correct, AA. Waikikamukau was an Ingham horse & bred at Woodlands Stud.

Waikikamukau is a colloquialism in New Zealand for any remote town. It is similar to Woop Woop in Australia.

Well thats a relief to know I havnt completely lost it.  Big smile  I was sure KickACow was a Woodlands horse.    By Clear Choice bred by Woodlands.
Those Ingham fellas got some good horses.
The lady who named them all was very clever.

The lady who named Ingham's horses carried on working for Godolphin kept her naming role. She is fantastic at it and you add to your general knowledge checking out her names.  Huge positive is that she has not added to the ridiculous number of Dubai named horses and extensions -like Sheikh Zayed Rd.

That’s her. She’s still naming them at Godolphin, up to about 10,000 named horses now.

I notice that this horse is now in Australia with ex-jumps jockey Craig Thornton at Hamilton.

Had a hurdle trial at Coleraine on Monday.

But he has undergone a name change - now Dr Colin.

Think I put this horse in the ‘well named horses” topic quite a few weeks ago. Quirky LOL

Amy McDonald was thrilled with this guys effort today to run 3rd at MV over 3000m today.

He’s now headed for a break & will get ready for the 2023 jumps season, which kicks off in mid-March.

I see Amy has now got South Pacific on her books, he's been up and down the east coast of late, but might make a decent jumper next season.

Good job to win first up over 2447m on the flat at Geelong a few weeks ago.

Makes his hurdle debut in R2 at Ballarat today.
