What a joke, he was up to his ears in the rort and expects the public to believe he knew nothing about the Red Shirts. I have lost count of the number of colleagues he has pushed under buses yet he still manages to keep a straight face at any press conference.

He should do what the Liberals do and simply ride out the news cycle.

Just what is it about these ALP premiers ?

He comes out looking pretty good to be honest. Not to the #sack crowd but nothing would change their mind.

PT, the whole criminal law and sentencing in Victoria is as limp as a lettuce left out in the sun. Here is an example, you are out on bail, you breach that bail, you fire an automatic weapon on the streets of Melbourne and you still get further bail. With such a soft approach to criminal offences in Victoria  there is no way those MPs would face criminal charges, except of course if during the COVID lockdown they had visited a grandchild, taken her to a public garden or even have the hide to protest at the draconian COVID restrictions enacted the Andrews government, then they would have faced the full force of the law.

That has nothing to do with IBAC finding that behavior was egregious but not illegal so no referral.

As a Victorian I face an abysmal choice at the upcoming election in November between a snake ( Andrews ) or a mouse (Guy ).

I believe someone the other day caught sight of Teflon Dan having a cup of coffee with Harry Houdini comparing notes on how he could wriggle his way out of the condemning IBAC report.  Harry apparently said good luck.

Andrews government says no deals, rules out pact with Greens in (possible) hung parliament

State Labor says any prospect of giving the Greens policy concessions in exchange for supporting the government is off the table and “no deals will be offered, no deals will be done”.

Following the "retirement " of five of his cabinet members last month now another ALP veteran, John Lenders, has been thrown under a bus by Andrews to cleanse the party of "embarrassments" before the upcoming state election in November.  It appears everybody and everyone except Teflon Dan has been responsible for his governments' failings and corruption under his watch.

Dan must have a lot of dirt on a lot of people for him, not only to lead the Victorian ALP but to still be premier of the state, if he was an AFL coach he would have been sacked months ago.

Well that's common knowledge: due to his involvement in the Red Shirts imbroglio which has recently been the subject of an adverse finding by the Ombudsman.

But, that Red Shirts imbroglio ( hardly an imbroglio more a rort ) took place in 2014, why was he not given the flick years ago ?

The Red Shirts rort was first brought to the public's attention in 2015, not with the recent IBAC report. The ALP , under duress, paid back $388,000 it had siphoned off the parliamentary budgets to electorate officers back then. Lenders should have been dumped at that time.

I'll put it another way Bob, and you'll hopefully understand: how many alleged felons opt to be incarcerated before being found guilty in a Court of Law?

1788, you're clearly confused.  And irrelevant in terms of the Red Shirts affair.

Which in context I've asked of you "who opts to go to jail before a conviction is recorded" or more to the point "who resigns a position prior to any adverse finding"?

The Victorian Ombudsman will not refer the Labor Party's so-called "red shirts rorts" to the anti-corruption watchdog or police, after a fresh report into the scandal found no evidence Premier Daniel Andrews facilitated the scheme.

Key points:

  • In 2018, the Victorian Ombudsman found Labor had misused $388,000 during the red shirts scandal
  • In a follow-up report, the ombudsman said the only evidence indicating Premier Daniel Andrews facilitated the scheme came from former MP Adem Somyurek's statements
  • The ombudsman says Victoria Police should apologise to former Labor staff who were arrested

But Deborah Glass has criticised Victoria Police's handling of its 2018 investigation and said it should apologise to the 17 former Labor staff it arrested in dramatic pre-dawn raids.

The Victorian Parliament asked the ombudsman to consider referring the red shirts scandal to IBAC in February, after sacked Minister Adem Somyurek claimed Mr Andrews knew about the scheme in the lead-up to the 2014 election.

"It is time to end this debate," Ms Glass said.

"I cannot, of course, rule out that further evidence may yet come to light, but with the passage of time and difficulty in proof I am not prepared to spend further public resources on these matters."

In Victoria there appears to be one rule for the favoured and another for everyone else. Andrews has persistently sought to obfuscate and avoid scrutiny when it comes to questions of corruption inside is own government and the Victorian ALP ( the red shirts rort and Labour's misuse of $400,000 of taxpayers money come to mind ) , on the other hand (thanks SC for letting me know ), apparently the Opposition Leader's , chief of staff allegedly asked high worth individuals to pay money to a company he ran. There is no evidence those documents were ever signed. Now we learn Andrews has referred this matter to justice authorities to pursue. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. This is what it is like living in a  society with a two-track legal system, when those who are favoured by the Andrews government get a soft touch and the rest get the book thrown at them

Sounds to me like one is a non criminal electoral matter while the other is a criminal bribery matter.
