thanks Gay - qld's premier handicap deserves a mention!

Apologies for the edit attempt that went pear shaped!

cracking race this year - godolphin have a very strong representation and Dawn Passage is on fire but has come up with the outside barrier. Think Special K will find form at the right time and give this a real shake

Thanks Marble.

Only four at single figure odds, and two of them have drawn outside gates.

A real raffle and a no bet race for me.

I have backed Graff at 50/1. Light weight and on the fence. Just needs to rediscover his old form.

1400 at the farm is pretty tough Red - graff might struggle at the finish

I have no confidence whatsoever. Graff just seemed way over the odds to me with a light weight and good gate.

I have no confidence in how the track has been playing - it helped bring Kinane undone.

Prefer to be on something forward of midfield in the run - everything I like has drawn the car park!

Dawn Passage is flying, and could be the one.

Deep Image looks to have taken another step and maps well.

A mate has an interest in Chief Ironside - he will roll forward, and gets a big weight drop from a gutsy 2nd up run in the Scone Cup, but a hefty class rise, and back to 1400m not ideal. Good track a must.

Hightail is one that would normally profile well for a race like this.

I'm fairly confident that has helped nobody!Geek

In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

Okay lets see if we can be of some assistance.

Those with none.

Kementari - Vega One - Graff - Madame Rouge - Bam's On Fire - Brave Song - Bandipur - Military Zone - Delectation Girl.

Top four hopes.

Outback Barbie - Dawn Passage - Hightail - Exhilirates - Deep Image - Tyzone.

Winning chances.

Trekking - Ranier - Nicconova - Victorem - Chief Ironside - Winter Bride - Crack Me Up.

Horses who are suited at 1600m have a good record in the race so for me Nicconova, Chief Ironside and Crack Me Up are good overs.

On form Trekking is a moral, but for me he has a lot of history to overcome, Ranier is in very good form and worth a bet and Victorem has the ability but needs everything to go right, right from the gates.

If the track races anything like it did last meeting, I think the primo running line will be out beyond three wide, possibly 8 wide in the straight.

Unless Chief Ironside gets away from Corey Bayliss, I can't see them going all that fast. Bam's On Fire will hold her position on speed, with Deep Image, Niccanova and maybe Winter Bride coming across to force some tempo. I would expect both Trekking and Dawn Passage to be looking to settle no worse than four lengths back on that wide line.

Dawn Passage to win.
Niccanova each way.

Kementari at his peak as a  3yo used to have a powerful but short sprint - has he still got it? I've only seen his last race, which looked like a Mackinnon Stakes when it used to be run on derby day cup trial.

Have followed Kementari since the comeback. At every start he looks to be ready to go bang but has given nothing. I'm jumping off today, so watch it win. Ouch
Might have 50 cents on The Cheif.

Great win for NQ and particularly Tolga , originally trained there , quite a small horse but I remember when Steve Wilson climbed off at Gordonvale earlier in his career he said he had a massive motor under the bonnet , congrats to Tommy he pumps a lot of money in up here .

Does anyone know what happened to Victorem ?   That was too bad to be true which makes me think something may have gone amiss ?

Stewards Report
VICTOREM – When asked to explain the performance, D. Smith stated that the gelding was unsuited on today’s firm surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slightly short-striding in front.
