Three of Shadwell Stud's future broodmares have died on their way to the Hunter Valley after a float accident near Euroa on Monday night.
The six-horse float, owned by a private company, crashed about 10 minutes outside of Euroa on Creightons Creek Rd heading to Yarraman Stud after picking up Hafaawa, Aladaala and Maktabba from Lindsay Park. The driver of the float, which is believed to have been carrying five horses, escaped unhurt. One of the horses on board survived the crash. Lindsay Park co-trainer Tom Dabernig, stable foreman Darren Bell and a team of Lindsay Park vets rushed to the scene of the crash. "We had plenty of people quickly on the scene. Darren Bell did an amazing job under the circumstances, we had three senior vets and myself and Ebony Harvey, who is from our racing admin," Dabernig said. "The SES, local CFA and the local police did an amazing job. "It was an awful thing for everyone involved." Co-trainer David Hayes said the stable was devastated by the tragic accident. "We had three lovely breeding prospects for Sheikh Hamdan, who had finished their racing careers, were going up to New South Wales," Hayes said. "It's quite horrific. Quite stressful." All three fillies died along with a fourth broodmare, with two-year-old Hybrid Theory the only filly to survive the crash, Matt Stewart's RSN reported.
The driver was conscious when stable staff arrived at the scene and escaped injury. The three fillies who had been trained by Lindsay Park were Hafaawa (Redoute's Choice x Elzeeza), Maktabba (Per Incanto x Maraaseem) and Aladaala (Redoute's Choice x A Real Princess), a $550,000 purchase by Shadwell Stud at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. |

Some nice blood there. Lets hope the filly can become a good broodmare in the future.

I've no idea where the latest 2 tragic road accident threads are as searching for anything obvious only finds this
Here's an uplifting post from Murdoch Uni. re. a weanling from the Kalgoorlie incident STAR PATIENT WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES Introducing one of our most special patients of the year to date! This precious Thoroughbred weanling colt, affectionately nicknamed "Snack", presented to The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University having been involved in the tragic horse truck accident that occurred just outside Kalgoorlie. As a result of the accident, “Snack” sustained significant burn wounds, ranging from first through third degree, affecting an estimated 20% of his total body surface area. Due to the latent thermal damage that occurs in these cases, the true extent of “Snack’s” injuries did not become apparent until Day 14; at which point the wounds were at their most severe. His injuries were undoubtedly painful, often associated with intense pruritis (itchiness) and self-mutilation, and necessitated high-level pain management. During his lengthy stay in hospital (34 days in total), this little survivor underwent intensive local burns management, involving daily bathing, topical application of antibacterial and emollient ointments, and compressive bandaging. He also developed pneumonia likely associated with smoke inhalation, which responded well to targeted medical treatment. Thanks to the dedication of our entire equine team and a highly committed owner, “Snack” was finally discharged from the hospital. Over the past 34 days, it was impossible not to fall in love with this very special colt who, despite such a terrifying ordeal, still trusted us enough to let us treat him; and is now well and truly on the road to recovery.
