" Bromwyn will not be pleased."

You mean Bishop ? Australia's shame, that that woman ever rose to a position of power.

Both of us have taken the malaria drugs for a bit over month at a time each time we have been to Africa.  Start a week before leaving home, and  then the entire time we were there.
So far, we are both still alive and no legs have fallen off, and didnt experience any side effects that we were aware of .

Yes but none of us know what will come.  My husband never was ill after his disastrous childhood full of accidents.  He got over colds well.  Wasn't on any medications for high blood pressure or anything else but he's died at 68.  I'd love to know what happened to make him get brain cancer.  It's a mystery.
On the other hand green tea seems to help hold my arthritis and bursitis pains at bay as I can't take anti inflammatory meds due to upsetting my stomach.

Sadly Furious , there isn't any explanations for some early failings of the bodies vital functions.
Of my 3 sons , The scuba diver , fit and appearing Healthy one was diagnosed with M S , 11 Years ago. Age 46. Probably had it for years.
At times his immune system suppressants Rx dosage, is frightening . He can't work and luckily he has a wonderful wife , who has stuck.   She is a Nurse Educator so he has constant Top level care and functions at home OK.
But a reduction in quality of life for all concerned.

I don't think The worlds best Medical brains , know a lot about the (in depth) Body workings, despite the wonderful progress that their efforts have made, over time.
I"m sure we all know on here , how dedicated you have been , through your own Family misfortunes . You feel proud and try to accept = Life has to go on.

My son in Law is also a MS sufferer.  He has chemo once a year which has side effects but so far is the only thing to have reduced his leasons.

And yes a fitness junkie.  Still goes to the gym (special one set up to help MS sufferers) was a climber, did competative roller skating.  He runs on empty most of the time now and has struggled with no free space with covid.  He can't take noise - so absolutely hates it when our whole family get together.  He goes green!

Lead up symptoms years ago was his inability to function O'seas in his IT career. ( Bell's Palsy ).    Came Home and admitted to Hospital , suspected Stroke.--- Over time increasing brain lesions ,finally uncovered the MS diagnosis.
His main Handicap is speech difficulty, worse when any stress involved.
Chronic Fatigue , plus reduction of previous capabilities.
With MS , It is never known what tomorrow has in store.
He has been through a number of drugs that work for a period , at times massive prednisone doses seem to get him back to a home functioning level.
   It is a cruel affliction.

Yes not as bad as brain cancer but certainly debilitating is so many different ways - depending on the where the lesions form.

And like Maccamax says they have to poison themselves to function sometimes.  The cure being almost as bad as the disease.

MS they can't even ascribe a cause to. When they don't know, they use the word, "idiopathic" ! Some suspect MS is caused by an infective organism.

No clue to cause .     Many have a guess.

Some suggestions the Endocrine System is like a "short" in an electrical set up...   One shorts out and your gradually saddled with the lot , to some degree--=   What comes first , the chicken or the egg .   Don't know .

Your gut relies on just the right balance of different bacteria to digest your food and to prevent infection and inflammation. Gut health also affects your mental health, weight, blood sugar, and liver. Prebiotic foods (whole grains, bananas, greens, onions, garlic, soybeans, and artichokes) act as food for healthy gut bacteria. Probiotic foods like yogurt are full of good bacteria already.   get to love those Bananas and Eggs. ( ckeck Cholesterol)

NO Alcohol = Puts men in the gutter & girls on the Street..
Not too much red meat ... limited Starches ...   Can't beat those green vegetables ,       .   3 months on that , You can expect a call from Wayne Bennett.

I think a good guide, is the palate, if something is unpalatable in its basic state, although we must allow for cooking and at most a little salt, then don't eat it. You would never eat soy if you applied that rule, but a few other things besides. The entire bean family is tasteless. Baked beans without the sauce, would be unpalatable, as would pasta, for that matter.

We are what we eat ...     Pt is a good guide on diets .

Blindfolded you would think wet cardboard was like Eye of fillet with the right additives.
I'm right into slow cook these days ... AA has me loathe to kill animals.

Hell of a struggle getting them down alive.

I saw a segment on TV last night about a bunch of Tongan teenagers who were shipwrecked on an uninhabited island for over a year, back in the 60's. They became so used to eating raw fish, that when they returned to civilization, they shunned cooked fish, preferring raw.

17 years today since I had Open Heart Surgery, ( Mammary Artery Graft.)

5 months after a stent inserted, didn't fix the cardiac problems.

4 angiograms are an experience in boredom.

I must apologise to all those Useless Doctors , I condemn at times.   Though stipulate that , had they done their job properly in earlier days , I wouldn't have needed their bluddy intrusions.

Jokes aside :-      How far some areas of medicine have come is astounding.        70 years ago you just died when the Coronary arteries blocked .    Today you can be home in one day following a stent = 6 days after Open Heart.
Amazing.

Always question any pathology results that look to be ODD .
I've just experienced a Thyroid reading for my son as TSH of 42.. and a Endocrinologist , put him on a massive initial dose of Thyroxin of 150mcg.
Made him very ill so i stopped him taking it and back to the GP for another blood test which came back TSH 4.5.   , makes the 42 reading as a typo that should have read 4.2.
All concerned , Specialist , 2 pathology Labs are now checking their work. I'd say a Medical error and liable if something went really wrong.
My son fortunate he has 2 very experienced Nurses on hand To pick up & report such things to the Doctors .
Our GP is very good but when his bookings are one every 10 minutes , TIME doesn't allow him to see the obvious.
My son is a very sick person and has been a real victim of very poor Medical management.    No wonder medical negligence is high on the cause of death lists.
I'm Horrified the Endocrinologist seeing these numbers & NOT have him pick up on such a questionable reading. $200 a visit deserves better.

I'm a Senior in Vic. who last year had cataracts x 2 for less than $500 & only about a 2mths wait.
I did however have to drive to small hops. an hour away to get this 'deal'which is nothing in the scheme of things.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!
