Africa appears almost untouched, for some reason. Probably poverty stops travel.

Where are these new cases in Sydney coming from ?    It appears they have been out and about socialising too, so no doubt it will have been spread about. Angry
As to air crew, they should be locked down when  they are here.
Next thing our borders will be shut again and there goes my holiday to Tasmania.  Angry

The US also looks on the way to setting a new daily record .

Another reason why we got a bit lucky here Mr P. Even with the HQ stuff and how bad it got, an Aussie winter is nowhere near a Europe or even US winter.

That sting in Aussie sun may actually be useful , viruses hate UV radiation and probably wont last long outside the body .
The US now 3,428 .

Are masks still mandated in Victoria ? I don’t understand why Gladys hasn’t done the same in NSW as it’s now put everyone’s Christmas at risk let alone lives and health of people .

The cleaner who was Covid positive from Sydney apparently didn’t infect anyone else as she was wearing a mask .

Face masks

  • Under COVIDSafe Summer restrictions, there is a requirement to carry a mask at all times.
  • From 11:59pm 6 December, masks are required in a limited number of places: on public transport, in rideshare vehicles and taxis, in some retail settings including indoor shopping centres, supermarkets, department stores and indoor markets.
  • While masks are no longer mandated in most circumstances, they continue to be recommended indoors or outdoors when distancing can’t be maintained.

NSW Premier @GladysB on the COVID outbreak: "We're bracing ourselves for more cases today, no doubt about that ... the next 24-48 hours will be absolutely critical ... We know the original source is an international source."

"We know the original source is an international source. The genomic testing has confirmed it's an international strain. But obviously we are yet to work out how it got from the international source to the community, whether it was through quarantine or through other sources."

Friends visited their son in Sydney over last week and drove back to Melbourne on Tuesday, my wife and I were to have lunch with them today, I rang and said we would cancel as over Xmas we were to have my 100 year old mother-in law for the day. Friends were not happy we cancelled as they said they never went near the north shore suburbs in Sydney, yet their son's movements were not clear as he moves about Sydney. What do you think were we doing the right or wrong thing ?

I think NSW has had 3 quarantine failures in the last couple of weeks with the North Shore biggy of unknown size the real issue .
I think you've done the right thing Bob , I'm changing my Christmas plans as I'm not dying to find out how dangerous Sydney is .

Dont blame you at all Bob.  Better sure than sorry, as it cant be relied on for people to do the right thing and tell the truth.
Friends here have holiday cabins and one is rented for the weekend for people from a northern beaches suburb.  He keeps trying to contact them to tell them he is cancelling and refunding, but they just wont answer.
We dont want them bringing it here .  Stay home .

Im not sure Bob. Sydney is a big town you know. Not all of the 5 million population has the virus.

Where’s the UK and Italy in the ranking.

I see UNICEF are feeding hungry kids in UK for first time in their history.
