Look at the offical covid site for world wide reports and sweden for one isn't reporting deaths or cases anymore.  But that doesn't mean they aren't having them they just stopped reporting.  Also lots of countries only reported hospital deaths.

Is it just me, but do Brad Hazzard (NSW ) , Martin Foley ( VIC ) and Steven Marshall (SA), all of whom appear on daily press conferences in their respective states, do not engender me with much confidence in what they have to say, as their appearance and their manner of presentation does not come across as convincing.

Macron with a big fvck you to the anti vaxxers

In France, those who do not get vaccinated will no longer be able to go to restaurants, cafes (from the beginning of August), cinemas and museums (from July 21) and get on airplanes or trains (again from August). Alternatively, you will have to submit a negative test, which will no longer be free (49 euros for the PCR, 29 for the antigen). Macron then announced the vaccination obligation for medical personnel and for those who work in contact with fragile people. Since September 15, a nurse who has refused to be vaccinated will no longer be able to go to work and receive a salary.

Not as brutal as Boris. Asked if he was opening up too early he said everyone who wants a vaccine has had time to get one.

Don’t see anything in there that suggests people will be forced to take the vaccine.

No one forced to have it.
Just if you choose not to you will have to stay away from other people and be ostracised.  Unless you have a very valid reason not to be vacced.
And I would think, once those who choose to have it, and the population are fully vacced, and can bust out, well, the others can take their chances.

It's different because the french aren't "anti vaxxers", they are just cautious about new vaccines, have lost trust in the government from past experiences, and a lot of them see Macron as a wannabe King, which puts French people off.

Fair enough but when will we be able to say that in Australia? 2024?

So they've done a big scare campaign about AZ around the world despite the astronomical odds of serious side effects but Australia and the world needs AZ. Well done.Clap

France has a sane system of justice unlike the US or Australia. There is zero chance of a French higher court overturning a vaccinated only entry rule.

PARIS (AP) — Over 100,000 people protested across France on Saturday against the government’s latest measures to push people to get vaccinated and curb rising infections by the delta variant of the coronavirus.

In Paris, separate protest marches by the far-rightWacko and the far-leftWacko wound through different parts of the city. Demonstrations were also held in Strasbourg in the east, Lille in the north, Montpellier in the south and elsewhere.

Thousands of people answered calls to take to the streets by Florian Philippot, a fringe far-right politician and former right hand of Marine Le PenWacko who announced earlier this month that he would run in the 2022 presidential election. Gathered a stone’s throw away from the Louvre Museum, protesters chanted “Macron, clear off!”, “Freedom,” and banged metal spoons on saucepans.

While Philippot has organized small but regular protests against the government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, Saturday’s demonstration drew a larger and more diverse crowd of people broadly disaffected with politics: yellow vest activists angry over perceived economic injustice, far-right supporters, medical staff and royalistsWacko.

Well if they pass a law saying you can't participate in a large swathe of everyday activities without being vaccinated, it amounts to forcing.
Also I was just pointing out that French people have their own reasons for being cautious about vaccines and/ or being told how to live by their government.
By the way, if you look at surveys about "vaccine hesitancy" around the world you'll find very few "anti-vax" extreme views - it's mainly worry about side effects or the short time taken in clinical trials. Fair enough.

I’m not debating people’s reasons for not getting vaccinated. Hence why I already said that is irrelevant to the discussion.

Nothing in there is forcing anyone to get vaccinated. They still have the choice. Like any choice in life it comes with consequences. You weigh up those consequences when you decide which course of action you are going to take. This is no difference. People who are hesitant to get the vaccine will weigh up the pluses and minuses and the CHOOSE whether or not to get it. They will not be forced.

And just to note,  none of those activities mentioned are essential to going about life. You do not need to dine out or travel across the country or go to entertainment venues to be able to function in life. Those are all discretionary activities.
