A bunch of primadonna's 'locked' in a nice looking hotel for 2 weeks before playing in a tennis tournament where they will get a minimum $100,000. Melbournians couldn't travel more than 5km for 2+ MONTHS so I have 0 sympathy for these clowns sooking it up.

The royal bottom wiper was a highly prized position. Groom of the stool. Yes, I bet they drew straws each day to see which one had the pleasure for the day. Especially when Hal got old and fat and difficult. I wonder did he wash his hair , ever ?

Henry's hair was the least of your problems. He smelt like an old corpse from the infected seeping ulcers on his legs.

Yes, I have read up on him over the years. Imagine what the last wife had to put up with, let alone the previous young Howard girl . But right to the end he fancied himself as a super stud. Most interesting place to visit concerning history around him was Hampton Court I thought. |

What's going on with Sweden. On the worldometers info they haven't been putting anything in lately.
OK back in April there were a total 1,990,745 cases worldwide (well reported cases) and 125,919 reported deaths. I think thats about 6.3%. Now (minus Sweden etc) we have 95,989,878 reported cases and 2,048,559 deaths. Or about 2.1%. At least that tells me doctors have learnt alot about treating this since the beginning. So that is a plus. On the minus side why go quiet on entering a countries details? USA have gone from 610,024 cases to 24,626,175 cases. UK crom 93,873 to 3,433,494.

For some reason Sweden has lately been a couple of days behind with the records on worldometers but right now there has been no update since the 14th.

"completed cases" figures are more reliable, the death rate is a little shy of 3%. And really has not altered much over the space of this contagion's progress.

Norwegian authorities and out Therapeutic Goods Administration have both said they were not concerned about the deaths of 33 people about to die anyway when assessing the vaccine for general population distribution.

oh Passing Through I thought it was good that it seemed a lower death rate. The doctors have alot of things to try and it does seem that while case numbers are up they are getting more through. Doesn't help to know that alot of damage to organs mean those living through this monster may have to live with health issues which it has created for them in the future.

Your half right , 1,600 deaths in the U.K. yesterday , but why are both SA and S. AM. so high ? I don't think it has a preference .

Some tennis players have been complaining about the standard of their hotel quarantine accommodation in Melbourne..including the appearance of the odd mouse. |

They reckon quite a few of the quarantine hotel rooms are absolute shockers. From memory Rydges was prominent in discussions.

COVID review panel critical of China, WHO delayInterim report says Chinese officials could have applied public health measures more forcefully, WHO took too long to declare international emergency. Chinese officials could have applied public health measures more forcefully in January with the spread of the coronavirus and the World Health Organization (WHO) took too long to declare an international emergency, an independent panel reviewing the global handling of the COVID-19 pandemic has said. The virus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019, before seeping beyond the country’s borders to wreak global havoc, costing more than two million lives and eviscerating economies. Monday’s report comes on the day Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit released 3 Days that Stopped the World, which showed the city of Wuhan during a crucial period early in the pandemic. Footage taken by two Chinese journalists and smuggled out of the country shows how the Chinese government failed to provide the necessary medical resources and attempts to censor journalists trying to report on the outbreak. |

"...deaths in several African countries surged in December. Niger recorded zero deaths in August, September and October, three in November but 32 in December. Mauritania recorded two deaths in August, September and October, 14 in November but 170 in December.
Others reporting escalating numbers in December include Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Zambia, Rwanda, Senegal and Namibia." Graphs showing big spikes for some African countries through January as well. South African strain spreading north.

Wonder what more deadlier and nastier strain will appear next, what's a good scary name that will keep people in fear for a bit longer
And here I was thinking new strains either stay the same or weaken and not get stronger

The reason we are getting all these wild animal diseases is because the most destructive virus of all, homo sapiens, is encroaching on and destroying their habitat.
