Righteous indignation has a use by date, and really it should have been put on hold when the cop was charged with murder, they can resume when he is acquitted !I'd say that with the proliferation of phone cameras in recent years, and this being the only one that has hit the headlines, police brutality isn't all that bad. I was talking to a bloke yesterday that was involved in a short police chase many years ago (trying to avoid a breath test), he said he was pulled from the car and the cop belted him on the head with his gun, despite him not resisting arrest. Some things don't change.

Life was better when cops gave you clip behind the ear on suspicion, and then sent you on your way ... if you then got caught for a serious crime, you got locked up for a serious stretch. This "victim" had only been incarcerated 5 times over a dozen years for mostly violent crimes ... but he was a good boy, really, according to his family and his Minister.

That cop , and his mates as well, new what they were doing. No one holds a person down like that for 8 minutes unless you mean to kill them. But all these others using it as an excuse to loot and vandalise and destroy are as bad as those cops.

Obviously, the police officers in all our big cities deserve to be abused. How about the federal protection officer killed by a drive by shooter. The list of those harmed beyond George Floyd's arrest and death is just as long and tragic. George Floyd's memory is not going to be a sympathetic one in terms of equal rights because these riots have taken all the steam out of whatever justice and American society has to offer. The focus is no longer on Floyd. Like Rodney King, Floyd will be remembered as the guy who caused all this chaos by trying to pass a counterfeit twenty. In a couple of years he will be remembered as a felon who got roughed up and died at the hands of police. He will barely be a footnote in the history of these events. I grew up the 50's in the south. There have been a great many improvements in race relations. This recent cr@p is going set the African-American community back decades, and their leadership already recognizesent it.

The copper may have known what a criminal past he had and given his size and History , he would be a hand full to subdue.
It wasn't murder , These things are not what the lay person allows for. Pressure on his neck at the same time as his other breathing areas , would have him die by a careless act. . Maybe a manslaughter conviction at worst. Before passing judgement , people need to experience how difficult and dangerous it is to face the task of managing an aggressive , out of control person. Add to that he was a giant, trained in the Martial arts. Plus a long History of violent crime. |
