Watching ABC news.
They doing a story about foot in mouth, small grab from the minister saying they are closing loopholes left by previous incompetent mob, then a grab from spud declaring the end of the world.
Then finally interview a “victim” from the last bout in the UK.

Her family lost their stock/livelihood?
Nope.
The village in which she lived, was decimated?
Nope.

She suffered mental health issues, watching it on the news…..

fiddlesticks, where do they find em?

City of Melbourne reviews Australia Day, is open to moving it from January 26

Lord Mayor Sally Capp has asked council management to come up with options of how to approach the increasingly contentious day.

To those TBV members who are unfamiliar with Melbourne and its inner suburban councils it is safe to  assume they are Greens dominated which is reflected in their decision making. With the City of Melbourne proposing to dump Australia Day celebrations and move them to another date it reflects the councils of Yarra, Darebin and you guessed right, Moreland, which have already scrapped Australia Day events.

Bob, why do you think inner city blue ribbon seats are rejecting the born to rule mob and flocking to parties and candidates who say they will look after your concerns?

In both Sydney and Melbourne federally, virtually all the blue ribbon Lib seats changed.

An interesting aside of the appointment of Sally Rugg as chief of staff for newly elected Teal MP. Monique Ryan was the immediate deletion of her tweeter account . What is the go there ? Was the rug pulled from under Rugg ?

Not unusual Bob. Ms Ryan may not have employed her for activities in a past life.

Close the borders!  We don't want this loudmouthed failure bringing foot in mouth disease back into Australia.

Scott Morrison to miss first week of new parliament

The former prime minister will miss the first week to attend an international event in Tokyo as Liberal MPs prepare to occupy the opposition benches.

Don't know about Morrison bringing back foot AND mouth disease , but he along with Dan Andrews and Adam Bandt certainly have foot IN the mouth disease. Andrews said " he would personally oversee integrity reforms , Bandt said " he would refuse to stand with the Australian flag" and Morrison said "  he would not trust governments ". A smart trio we have there .

Beekeepers on the NSW Mid North Coast are the latest to prepare to destroy their hives after the detection of varroa mite in hives at a blueberry farm.

The deadly bee parasite has been detected in Nana Glen, 25 kilometres inland from Coffs Harbour, where a 10-km eradication zone has been established.

It was the 43rd detection since an initial case in the Port of Newcastle last month.

How are they going to keep F&M out when they cant contain a bee virus  ??

Documents reveal senior NSW ministers knew Jenny West had been chosen for US trade job

Documents released to the NSW parliament have contradicted previous claims made by the Premier and Trade Minister about the US trade commissioner recruitment process.

Key points:

  • Dominic Perrottet and Stuart Ayres both said they were told there wasn't a successful candidate for the US trade job
  • Briefing notes now released show they were told senior bureaucrat Jenny West had been picked
  • A parliamentary inquiry into the appointment of John Barilaro to the job is ongoing

The documents reveal briefing notes were sent to then-treasurer Dominic Perrottet, Trade Minister Stuart Ayres and former deputy premier John Barilaro and stated a successful candidate had been picked for the plum New York-based trade commissioner role last year.

The notes contradict previous claims by Mr Perrottet and Mr Ayres that they were told there wasn't a suitable candidate identified in the first recruitment round.

Almost identical briefing notes were sent to all three ministers to notify them of the "outcome of the recruitment search for a STIC (Senior Trade and Investment

this sounds like one of Bob's hangouts...

Victorian restaurant’s steep $170 cancellation charge – is it fair?

Would-be-diners will be slung a whooping $170 each if they fail to show up for a reservation at a prestigious Victorian restaurant.

In an update on its website, the restaurant warns customers that a cancellation or change of date more than seven days out from a booking will see $25 docked off the full refund of any deposit paid.

While those who pull the pin within the 7-day window will only receive 50 per cent of their deposit back.

In Brae’s case, the deposit for dining reservations is the full menu price of $340 per person, meaning it will cost potential patrons $170 each to cancel their plans within seven days.

AUD$500 odd per night.
Payment up front, no refunds more than 24 hours after booking.,.

Ahhhhhh.

It’s a stupidity tax!

You still have to quarantine for a week there.
So anyone booking less than that, won’t be coming.
Very,very cynical…..

I feel for some restaurants when they get last minute cancellations, as an example take a wedding that has been called off a week before the happy, now unhappy, couple tied their nuptial knot. The venue most likely cannot be rebooked and the restaurateur is left holding the ticket. A cancellation fee does seem fair. If a restaurant was booked for say, 10 people, and it is cancelled within 24 hours of that booking, the owner may have been stuck with unwanted food and staff who still have to be paid , so I think a cancellation fee is warranted, however if that booking was cancelled 7 days prior, I would agree the restaurateur has a hide to demand $170 per head.
How much those differing cancellation fees are is open ended, I suppose the restaurateur would start off with an ambit claim and work backwards with the client to agree on an appropriate fee.

UK to enter recession, Bank of England warns

The Bank of England is also warning that the UK economy will enter recession later this year.

The Bank has cut its growth forecasts, and now sees the economy falling into recession from the October-December quarter.

In a grim warning about the economic outlook, it says: GDP growth in the United Kingdom is slowing.

The latest rise in gas prices has led to another significant deterioration in the outlook for activity in the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe. The United Kingdom is now projected to enter recession from the fourth quarter of this year.

Real household post-tax income is projected to fall sharply in 2022 and 2023, while consumption growth turns negative.
