How pathetic. Nothing against Des Gleeson but he is long retired. How incredibly incompetent must the Qld stewards be to have to create a “Big Brother” role to check their work.
Arrogant, entitled and incompetent seems to be the best way to describe the current situation in QLD. |

Annoying when the latest discussion is on the previous page
Stewards to review bewildering protest decisionQueensland stewards are set to review a protest decision which sensationally saw a horse stripped of a race, despite winning by more than a length while eased down. In what has been described as one of the most incredible protest decisions by stewards, trainer David Murphy's Beachside Babe lost a race at Beaudesert in Saturday after it was alleged jockey Andrew Spinks caused interference at the 300m mark. Murphy aired his dismay at the decision after the race, telling Racenet: "I almost fell off my chair". After widespread ridicule, the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission announced on Monday they would look into the decision. "The Commission will review the processes around the decision from Saturday at Beaudesert, as it does around all decisions," a QRIC statement said. The successful protest saw the "battling" connections of Beachside Babe miss out on $22,000 in prizemoney as she is a QTIS-qualified filly. "They are devastated – one of them is a gardener who bought her for a few thousand dollars and the other guy is retired, it is out of control," Murphy said of the connections. |

The ‘you’ in this case is the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission or more specifically its boss Shane Gillard and the ‘spin doctor’ is News Limited or more specifically one of his former fans leading turf scribe Ben Dorries. Gillard seems to have lost majority confidence of the industry and stakeholders in the way he is running QRIC. His only friends appear to be the Chief Steward he appointed (Josh Adams) and a few ‘supportive’ stewards in the country (hope he’s enjoying the weather in Cairns) who many believe should join Gillard on the first train out. The message is loud and clear to Racing Minister Grace Grace. QRIC needs change and you need to recognise that this lack of confidence in the integrity unit under the chairmanship of the man you appointed has degenerated into a farce. It’s time to send a message to the racing industry and the stakeholders that you will no longer tolerate what is going on before it drags on and the LNP does the job for you when they take control of Government at the next election. There are growing calls for Gillard and Adams to go and for QRIC to change this farcical approach they are adopting to ensure racing in Queensland is clean. How do you ensure that when less swabs are being taken. It’s almost an invitation for the rule-breakers to do as they like or to head north where ‘anything goes’. But rather than LGHR repeat what we (and Archie Butterfly have been saying for months) here's what Ben Dorries, who has finally jumped ship, had (in part) to say on Racenet: THE Queensland Racing Integrity Commission has lost the plot. Integrity and animal welfare are meant to be the cornerstones of what they are about, but it’s impossible to see how their latest decision falls under that charter. QRIC is reducing the number of vets and sample collection officers (swabbies) on race days from two to one. Sample collection officers are required to collect and securely package urine and blood samples from horses, for the purpose of analysis on behalf of QRIC. The cuts are an apparent bid to save costs, yet this is the same organisation who high-placed industry sources say has spent about $400,000 so far on legal costs in the ongoing Alligator Blood court matter. Perhaps crying poor is a move by the top QRIC officials, Commissioner Shane Gillard and his Deputy Natalie Conner, to scrape more money from the State Government. But consider the potential animal welfare and integrity ramifications of the current move. The Queensland Thoroughbred Alliance (trainers, jockeys and breeders) is rightly up in arms. “The recent announcement by QRIC to reduce race-day vets and sampling officers, citing budget constraints, is totally unacceptable to our industry,” spokesman Cameron Partington said. “The welfare of our people and animals, along with the perceived and actual integrity of our racing, are both areas of concern that are beyond compromise. “Particularly in the warmer summer months, ensuring horses are professionally cared for and monitored is of the utmost importance – it was just a few weeks ago at Ipswich that the race meeting was delayed for nearly an hour to allow the two race-day vets additional time to monitor and care for horses. “Having just one vet on course at a race meeting is a potential huge financial loss to our industry – as simple as what if the horse or the vet themselves needs significant care what happens to our race meeting?” Back in 2020, a posse of Queensland trainers complained they were not competing on a level playing field and insisted QRIC wasn’t doing enough to stop doping and cheating.” It will be interesting to see what this ‘supposed’ Independent Review into QRIC currently under way and ordered by the Racing Minister, proposes. With Commissioner Gillard reported to have written the terms of reference for the Review, don’t expect too much decisive action – just more of the same. That's Queensland Racing - crap one day and worse the next! |

Queensland trainer fined after positive samples
A southeast Queensland thoroughbred trainer has been charged by Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) stewards after cocaine was detected in two different thoroughbred runners at race meetings in Toowoomba and Gatton. During a stewards’ inquiry, licensed trainer Phillip Bobic pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the detection of a prohibited substance in two horses. Cocaine was detected in Bobic-trained Sonic Arrow, after a post-race sample was collected following its winning performance at the Toowoomba Racecourse on Saturday 10 June. Following its win at Gatton on Saturday 24 June, Bobic-trained Sennachie’s post-race sample also tested positive for cocaine. QRIC stewards found Mr Bobic in breach of AR240(2), which states that when a horse is brought to race it must not have prohibited substances present. The stewards’ penalty decision was handed down yesterday, and Mr Bobic has been fined $4,000. Sonic Arrow has been disqualified from its placing in Toowoomba Race 1, Prime Thoroughbreds Benchmark 58 Handicap (1,000m), and the placings have been amended. Sennachie has been disqualified from its placing in Gatton Race 7, Public Safety and Training Response Group Maiden Handicap (1,400m) and placings have been amended. Mr Bobic has the opportunity to appeal the decision via the independent Racing Appeals Panel |

REVEALED: Fresh developments in Chris Munce CCTV probe
Racenet can reveal previous racing charges against the legendary jockey-turned-trainer, which had stemmed from CCTV footage seized from his Eagle Farm stable in 2020, have now been vacated by stewards. Stewards' charges against Munce's foreperson son Corey have also been vacated. A new stewards' panel has been convened to hear "evidence afresh" early next month. "Trainer Chris Munce and his foreperson Corey Munce will face a QRIC stewards' inquiry on 3, 4 and 5 July 2023," a Queensland Racing Integrity Commission spokesperson told Racenet. "The inquiry follows an investigation into CCTV footage from the Munce stables seized in October 2020. "The seizure of the footage resulted from a pre-race inspection at the Munce stables on 2 October 2020. "A fresh stewards' panel has been convened to conduct the inquiry and hear the evidence afresh. "Mr Tim Ryan KC will be counsel assisting the stewards. As this is a fresh inquiry, all previous charges have been vacated." In July last year, Racenet reported details of the now vacated charges against Munce and his son. At the time, QRIC said it had charged Chris Munce with "six counts of injecting racehorses within one clear day of them competing". Munce was also charged with "two counts of administering an alkalinising agent to horses on raceday". Corey Munce was charged with "two counts of being party to the administration of an alkalinising agent to horses on raceday". Rules of racing state horses must not be injected with anything within one clear day of racing without permission of stewards. All previous charges have now been vacated. The matter dates back three years to when racing authorities seized stable CCTV footage after an inspection of Munce's stables. It resulted in Munce initially being suspended for three months on a treatment charge involving the mare Lady Brahmos, with Munce's ban subsequently reduced to a $5000 fine on internal review. Both Munces have consistently denied all allegations of impropriety. At a previous stewards' hearing into the matter, barrister Jim Murdoch told stewards that much of the CCTV footage seized from Munce's stable was ambiguous or inconclusive. "We have studied it in depth and are of the fairly strong persuasion the (CCTV) footage is ambiguous," Murdoch said at the time. In July last year, Munce wrote to owners saying: "I am confident that I have no case to answer." In 2015, Munce quit riding to become a trainer. He had enjoyed a 30-year career as a jockey in which he became one of a small band of jockeys to complete the grand slam with wins in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, Cox Plate and Golden Slipper. Munce, searching for his first Group 1 win as a trainer, has mare Palaisipan racing as a $17 chance in Saturday‘s Group 1 Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm. |

At least Racing NSW has implemented a OTT program. It is never going to solve the problem but each horse saved helps. Racing QLD is quick to dock the prize money ( including paying 5%, same as jockeys fee in races over $250k ) but slow to show how it is used.

Equine Voice Australia (E.V.A.) Amanda Vella · Retired 2 days ago! Last raced 2 years ago! Gracemere sales full of bloody Thoroughbreds!!! When will QLD racing do something? This too is pretty damning of RNSW Kim Warren
This happens in NSW A total of 12 thoroughbreds have been identified, at least 10 of whom were slaughtered in direct breach of Racing NSW’s rules which prohibit the slaughter of NSW-bred/domiciled horses and horses sent directly from within the industry. The evidence from the second knackery, Highland at Guyra, identifies at least 4 separate occasions in the last two years where a total of 9 NSW thoroughbreds were sent directly from a stud/breeding facility owned by billionaire Gerry Harvey (who owns the prestigious Magic Millions racing event, and Harvey Norman) to the knackery, again in breach of the Racing NSW rules. The evidence also shows 89 horses sent by local breeder Tamac Stud Farm in the same two year period, also in breach of the rules. While all of this was happening, instead of looking into it for themselves, Racing NSW and their CEO Peter V'landys were busy pouring resources into suing a media outlet for exposing racehorse slaughter in NSW knackeries last year. |

I said 1) you’ve recently been moaning consistently about prizemoney in 1/2 TAB meetings.. FACT 2)you boasted about making a nationwide plunge. Also FACT. In reply to both these “facts” I happened to mention i unofficially broke the marathon world record, and schooled Tim Tszuy in a spar recently. And, unfortunately, as ridiculous as my claims are, they are more believable than yours….
