I’ve seen this family for a while. Having owned and bred from her dam. They love the Green Desert line. She was a great producer. Who should she go mate with in her last matings.

Small world Gonski - I purchased her dam Ride The Lightning at the yearling sales in SA for an absolute song. The dam was a very small mare with ordinary front legs. Some friends of mine took her on initially, had her in work with Leon Corstens but from memory she didn't race.
Once she went to stud she did a great job, especially to our stallion Lacryma Cristi. The beautiful pedigree shone through, beating her type I think!
I would be looking for Green Desert in the mares last few seasons, probably through Invincible Spirit sons or I am Invincible sons. You probably want a nice athletic type in the sire, nothing too heavy topped. Don't want to risk those legs coming through.
Good luck with her.

I agree with those thoughts. Green Desert line seems to work. Needs to be A stallion in Victoria. Or close to border. She and her dam just click with the Green Desert line. Although the Gonski gelding can gallop. RTL last foal.

I would suggest that Sun Stud has a new stallion by the name of National Defense that is by Invincible Spirit out of a mare by Kingmambo.  Kingmambo sees Nureyev as his damsire and Nureyev appears as the granddamsire of Lightning Rules' second dam.  Kingmambo also traces back to the same female family as Lightning Rules, so the mating offers a number of interesting influences that you may like to consider.  The stallion himself was champion 2yo in France, but won over 1400-1600m so probably not the early 2yo that we see here, so I would suspect the progeny to be a later 2yo and again probably be more of the miler type that we saw in Spirit Song.  Territories is also a son of Invincible Spirit, but does not have the same female influences so I think probably not as strong a mating.  Cable Bay as above is also by Invincible Spirit, but again I think the female line which sees a strong Secretariat influence, the sire of Kingston Rule totally changes the focus of the pedigree.

On an unrelated line of thought, Starcraft offers an interesting mating, reinforcing Nureyev in the female line.  The Last Lion is another that could be considered as he offers the presence of Sharpen Up through Danehill Dancer.  I suspect that it is the Sharpen Up influence in the pedigree of Invincible Spirit that played an important role in the success of Spirit Song.  Finally, another in a similar vein is Hooked.  A quality racehorse but not well supported at stud in his first season, Hooked again offers another line of Sharpen Up, with the added benefit of Sir Ivor through a daughter in Grand Luxe.  This is through Flying Spur who is related to Encosta De Lago whose son, Delago Brom produced another winner for the mare in Lightning Brom, but this appears a much stronger mating.

Anyway, a few thoughts for you to consider.

Not sure really why. He has that overseas shuttle stallion issue. I’m not convinced he will be a long term stallion here. It is hard to knock him but I think he is overpriced. If he gets a few more winners by our stallion season then maybe.

In truth he would appear an ordinary match from a most perspectives.

Interesting that I'm not the only one who picked up on Glass Harmonium.

Sadlers Wells over Darshaan (his mare line) has matched up nicely with Zabeel whenever it's been tried -- whether it's Zabeel up top or flipped over.  Dundeel is the ur-example.  Pierro is bred on this cross, as is Alpine Eagle, Lizzie L'Amour, Charmont (High Chap over a Danehill daughter of a Zabeel mare), etc.  Ride the Lightning has this extended cross via Military Plume and Nureyev.  Glass Harmonium brings in the above, plus an interesting strain of Secretariat, another line to Somethingroyal via Sir Gaylord, another cross to Riverman, and a high-class daughter of My Babu.

Pedigree-wise he's interesting, performance-wise he hasn't had much of a shot (50 named foals of racing age).  His highest earner is a metro-winning filly whose 2nd dam is Zabeel. For a breed-to-race older mare and there aren't any better options (aka Green Desert line) nearby/in your budget, he could be worth a punt.

Agree. Was surprised that he has served so few mares and has a low strike rate winner wise. Group 1 winner but not supported.

I happen to be a fan because Verglas actually stood in WA and did quite well and ALL of his progeny were grey. Unfortunaely he went back to the Irish (?) national stud and didnt come back.
Amazing fact.
And Kenmare did well here through other stallions.
