Police are investigating an early-morning shooting at the Brisbane home of heavyweight boxer Justis Huni.

At least five shots were fired into the Sunnybank Hills home on Goorong Street at 4am, police said.

Officers were called to the scene after reports of loud noises and vehicles driving off at speed.

They then returned at 7am after it was discovered bullets had gone through the front windows and into the house.

Ten people, including a six-month-old baby, were at home at the time, Mr Huni's media manager Sean Lawson said.

He said the family was uninjured and was not aware of a motive.

I see in today's paper that Jean Pierre ( Johnny ) Famechon has received an AM in the annual Queens Birthday awards " for service to boxing at the elite level ". Famechon retired from boxing in 1970 and is now 77 years of age. I wonder why it took so long for him to be recognised with an AM ?

I hope I'm wrong Bob , but maybe he's quite unwell , great fighter , actually boxer not a fighter/ brawler , seen him fight Jose Legra ( on film off course ) the dark Frenchman , he was pretty to watch , got hit by a bloody car outside Warwick Farm racecourse , left him with speech impediment amongst other problems , much loved sportsman , I was a fan . StarStar

Unbelievable win against a proper world champion whose only loss had been a mixed decision against Olexander Usyk, fighting 10 rounds with a broken jaw.

That was a seriously good fight.

It was hard to believe Horn went into that having lost 4 of his 8 bouts.

Who beat him previously ?

Don't like the southpaw stance of young Nik , elder brother has a great future , the young un I'm not too sure , fell for the trap of trying to brawl " in close " which suited his opponent who almost had him in the last round , standing off and counter punching looked much better , from an ordinary armchair critic. Big smile

Had only fought 8 minutes prior to last night. Bit to learn. Seems pretty brash unlike his brother's total professionalism. Hope it doesn't bring him unstuck.

He is 24 carioca. Was a good amateur but stepped away for 5 years to get an architectural degree. Only started boxing again this year. A Newington boy.

How about Justin Hodges calling out Paul Gallen. Funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Is the guy delusional? The slug could barely get the better of some no-hoper having his first fight. He should watch the replay and get real. He would get absolutely pulverised by Gallen.

He was talking himself up after he out puffed Ben Hannant a month ago too. The talk of million dollar paydays has a few of them excited.

If Australian boxing had any credibility left at all, here it goes.

Gallen's planned exit from the sport later this year will involve a bout against Justin Hodges plus another person in an 8 round bout, 4 rounds against each one. Likely another footballer, just not Justis Huni or anyone else that can fight.

Usyk too good again, despite one judge inexplicably giving the fight to Joshua. Split decision.

"You're not strong, how did you beat me?"Confused

"I'm not a 12-round fighter. Look at me. I'm the new breed of heavyweight.

"'You don't throw combinations like Rocky Marciano', That's cause I ain't f***ing 14 stone. I'm 18 stone and I'm heavy."

Problem is limited boxing skills not weight.

His gripe was with 12 round fights benefit smaller fighters like Usyk, lamenting the end of 15 round championship fights.
