How do people in Victoria ever feel safe with Dan The Socialist in charge of Bushfire's and Violent African Youth Gangs ... on the positive side, he seems to be very successfully creating more work for people - in the RFS and Policing areas!

Then Provide injecting Rooms and force Police not to nail those users for posession .   Aid and abet criminals and add to that , condone these Gangs.

Here we go again, although this gang is from the SE of Melbourne, whereas most of the other gangs work out of the NW suburbs. If they all got together in the CBD it would prove to be an interesting match-up.

Why would they fear Police .    The coppers probably are a bigger Gang than these desperates....

FWIW, these kids come from things most aussies can't imagine, and they carry it with them, and then they have their weird family situations to ddal with.
And then they're treated differently at school because they're very dark skinned and come from another culture and they seem like dunces in classrooms.
No wonder they join gangs.

“You cannot blame them “ you say, but why do they need to join criminal gangs? They could join a football club or cricket club to associate with people who face the same difficulty in assimilating into the community. I do not expect them to roll up at the local private golf club or philatelic club but surely they could join a football club.
Why do they need to stage “walk ins “ through their nearest Harvey Norman or Rebel Sports store ?

If they do not want to join a local football/ cricket club, they can do what other teenagers of their age might do...join the scouting movement ,that might get a reaction on this forum, join a gymnasium and take on physical contact sport like boxing or judo , where they can release their aggression , even study a bit harder with their school work, get a part time job, other options are endless, anything but join a criminal gang.
As there are eight of these gangs in Melbourne and each could have around twenty to twenty five in each gang that means in total there are about two hundred in these gangs, surely it is not that difficult for their own communities to step up to the plate and address whatever issues are facing these recalcitrant youths, otherwise the government should enact tougher legislation to bring them in to line.

The action plan has been developed for Victoria’s African communities by Victoria’s African communities. Its development was led by the African Ministerial Working Group (AMWG), a diverse group of 22 people of African heritage, from October 2016 to February 2018.

During this time, hundreds of people across Victoria’s African communities gave their views and opinions to help shape the plan. The Action Plan responds to well-known issues, and aims to uplift and support people to make decisions that improve their lives.

Communities playing a leading role

The action plan asks people in Victoria’s African communities to own, lead and be part of solutions. It needs cooperation, resources, expertise, knowledge and know-how to create lasting change. The action plan also asks governments, as well as the civil, private, academic, philanthropic sectors, to think about how they can work more closely with African communities to help improve well-being.

The action plan is supported by 4 key principles:

• use community talents and know-how
• be accountable
• work in partnership
• focus on creating lasting change

Working for lasting change

The action plan proposes more than 250 actions across 6 focus areas. The suggested actions aim to create opportunities for all people to belong, contribute and thrive. The actions also build on work already being done by communities, governments and others to support people across Victoria’s African communities.

The 6 focus areas are:

1. Business: Growing African Victorian innovation, enterprise and investment across the economy.
2. Employment: Strengthening skills and pathways to gain meaningful jobs in all sectors.
3. Education and training: Building stronger learning foundations and skills for life.
4. Health and wellbeing: Lifting the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of all people.
5. Inclusion and empowerment: Supporting people to be equal, treated fairly and with respect.
6. Leadership, cohesion and connection: Contributing to a strong Victoria through effective leadership, cohesive communities and stronger connections across the broader society.
