Randwick Race 4 #9 Mr Marathon Man

I think his form is better than many may appreciate, particularly those two runs in January. His form reads 9 starts on good tracks for no placings but there are a few close 4ths in there. He was nosed out of third in the Festival Stakes back in November at 200/1 so I'm hoping for another big run at huge odds.

Mr Marathon Man was scratched on Saturday & instead ran in the Canberra Cup today which he won paying around $18 or $19.

Steinem does look super promising, but I�ll have a small place bet on Raise The Colours at $20 place.

By Raise the Flag, so might be better suited to the SA Fillies Classic over 2500m next month, but she wasn�t far away in the G3 Alexandra Stakes at MV recently & the wider spaces at Morphetville will let her stretch out a bit more.

4th behind Liquero last time beaten only 5.2L , and before that beat Beeston Lad in a maiden & he won with authority at his next outing. And I like Ben Brisbourne as an up & coming trainer.

Adelaide Race 8 #5 Viridine

Viridine is my equal top rater for the race along with Gytrash. I have heard many say that he is just a Group 2 horse but I believe he is good enough to win a Group 1 & this might set up perfectly for him.

He ran 3rd in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot. Was well backed in his only Australian start but failed on the heavy track at Hawkesbury. 2nd emergency so needs a couple of scratchings.

Anyway, Grove Ferry wasn't required in Race 8 (The Gong), but competed in Race 9 in which had to carry 61kg compared to 52kg in the Gong. I thought he had too much weight to be a winning chance in that race but he ran an eye-catching 6th beaten 2.7 lengths & I notice was highlighted as the "Hidden Gem" on Punters Intelligence. I'm probably extremely biased but still think he would have run a big race in The Gong with the light weight when I was on at triple figure odds.

It brings back bad memories of Zaaki at huge odds in the Doncaster!

No, afterwards everyone was talking about the run & his best price in 8 starts since has been $3.60.

So I�ll have a little each way on 25/1 shot Pappalino. His last start at Ballarat was ok & today is the first time we get to see him at a proper staying trip of 2500m, at which he performed well in France.
