As you said the trial form has held up OK. As someone said once (Rumsfeld?), "There are known knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns." For a first start I won't have a bet and if she is in the prizemoney I'm in front.

At the weights though, I'd rather have ours than the favourite at the prices.

$23 in early betting. I think she is worth a little eachway ticket BTT.

No need to quote the post above, just clogs up the thread Wink
Thanks Gay. Happy for her to be mixed in with multiple others at the moment lol. Those who have followed the Bred To Stay thread know what I'm talking about. If she wins her maiden I might have a change of opinion Smile

Anyway, starting threads and referring pages is above my pay grade Tongue

Freefall how about for the sake of continuity, you start a new thread with her name & in the post, refer ppl to P42 of this thread? The alternative is to stay here & have her mixed in with multiple others Confused BOL for a safe & promising run Tuesday Thumbs Up

You two have given me the most generous feedback on this adventure. Thanks. I'm not sure how many of Too Darn Hot's progeny have raced (let's say 12?) but this will be the first one to run as a 2yo - albeit close to 3yo - (as my best mate who bred her told me yesterday as he watched an under 9's rugby league game that his grandson played in.)!

Aim? Get around safely, learn a bit more and hope she pulls up well.

The form out of her trial is showing promise with both placegetters running well on their next starts.

I like the fact she is kicking off over 1400.

Good luck.

Yes you are right about the weights. Opted for the 2yo maiden and the stable apprentice, Jess Del Frari will ride her who also rode her in the trial and the jumpout.

No great expectations. We are all realistic enough to realise it is just another step in her education. Exciting though!!

The problem I have with the open maiden is the weight she is asked to carry.

She should be asked to carry 45 kgs ( 47 for colts ) instead she is asked to carry 55.5. I have no idea how they allot these weights ?

Any clue as to who will ride her, She was very green in her trial ?

Best of luck on Tuesday.

Rather than double post in the "Who Owns Horses" thread I thought I'd keep it all here where it all began.

Looks like we're off to Kembla on Tuesday. Dual nominations - either a 1400 2yo maiden or a 1500m open maiden. The 2yo maiden has horses with trainers like (Waller, Maher, Hickman, Ryan, Baker, Portelli?) The open maiden looks a bit softer but first start over 1500 remains to be seen.

Age vs potential - We'll know soon!

Thanks Furious. Just watched the video of the jump out - she was being eased down a little at about the 100m mark and sensed another horse making ground on her outside. Wasn't the jockey that urged her on, she did it on her own Smile

Anyway, hope she pulls up well and we're soon off to the races.

I haven't seen the video of the jump out yet but by all reports it was a good one. Apparently jumped handy, hit the front in the straight and when challenged, put her head down and won it.

A trial and a jump out - I know Question But at least it looks like we're off to the races?

Thanks SC. Her half brother (From The Bush) ran 3rd at Rosehill yesterday - same owners except me lol.  My cousin felt sorry for me a couple of years ago and offered me half of his share for a couple of grand. At the time I declined Confused

Was a bit short for him but had a bit each way. $6.90 the place was nice Tongue

Looks like I'm about to take a small share in a filly my mate bred that is currently at Swettenham Stud. By a sire I really didn't know much about (Ribchester) out of Endaxi (Authorised/Too Darn Hot).

Any comments on the cross appreciated.

So glad she is a filly. Stunning pedigree.  Ribchester was top class from 2 to 4. She could be anything.

Nearly two years later and our Ribchester filly (now named Bush Girl) is getting close to her first start.

A nice trial earlier in the month and another jump out tomorrow. Unfortunately no jump outs over 1000m available so she'll go over 800m again.

Starting to get excited Smile

Been following the progeny of St Jean closely over the past 12 months.  He’s a completely under the radar stallion standing for only $3,300 at Brackley Park Stud up near Seymour.  But from a paltry number of runners he’s doing a good job, especially with stayers.

I had a few good collects earlier in the year with a mare called Jugan.

He got his first Saturday winner today at Murray Bridge with a gelding called Keevs winning over 2500m.

Checking out Keevs breeding, you won’t see a more stamina heavy pedigree if you tried.  Dam is by My Patriarch, who was a Hayes family import who broke down in a 1994 Cups campaign but had won a few big 3200m races in the UK. There’s also good staying stallions in previous generations in Oregon, Star Way &
Le Fripon.

For those looking to breed a stayer or jumper, I’d be giving St Jean some due consideration.

I thought Enzed was very impressive, given his total lack of race smarts & that he was 1st up over 2000m. Looks to be a genuine stayer in the making albeit over longer journeys once up in class.

Hello,
btw, it's quite interesting to compare the peds of the "Aussiebred " Filly "Miss Anticipation" (by Dream Ahead) and the Germanbred "Darsito" (Best Solution) see "2 year old racing in Germany" (2023), both are descents of "Delsy" and Dalawara (Miss Anticipation) and Darara (Darsito) are FS.

If you do a "Hypomating" with both horses, they have much more in common, if you extend it to
6 generations! Even when they were bred at very distant part of the Breeding world.

regards, Ticino

A couple at Cranbourne tonight.

Winner of R1 - ENZED MAGIC

By Zed out of a Guillotine mare from the family of the The Filbert.

Race 8 - DAIQUIRI

By French Derby winner Lope De Vega out of a mare called Pale Mimosa, who won the 2014 Lonsdale Cup & ran 3rd in the 2014 Ascot Gold Cup.

Won first up here at Ballarat 1600m & stays at the same distance tonight.
