She was on that CNN coronavirus expert panel and told everyone that the virus has proven "the need to follow science" and that the virus is a "children's rights" issue. No "how dare you"s this time, thankfully.

Children,s rights issue ??  Confused  And she is an expert ?  OMG help us.Cry  Please dont let her breed.

That reminds me of my dad's comment a year or two ago about her - "she'll either have killed herself 10 years fron now or she'll be in politics."

Global Fossil Fuel Subsidies Remain Large: An Update Based on Country-Level Estimates

Abstract

This paper updates estimates of fossil fuel subsidies, defined as fuel consumption times the
gap between existing and efficient prices (i.e., prices warranted by supply costs, environmental
costs, and revenue considerations), for 191 countries. Globally, subsidies remained large at
$4.7 trillion (6.3 percent of global GDP) in 2015 and are projected at $5.2 trillion (6.5 percent of GDP) in 2017. The largest subsidizers in 2015 were China ($1.4 trillion), United States
($649 billion), Russia ($551 billion), European Union ($289 billion), and India ($209 billion).
About three quarters of global subsidies are due to domestic factors—energy pricing reform
thus remains largely in countries’ own national interest—while coal and petroleum together
account for 85 percent of global subsidies. Efficient fossil fuel pricing in 2015 would have
lowered global carbon emissions by 28 percent and fossil fuel air pollution deaths by
46 percent, and increased government revenue by 3.8 percent of GDP.

Parts of Qld had all time record low temps for May, this last week. This causes me to wonder if it is a co-incidence, or is the virtual disappearance of aircraft from our skies, having some effect, that has hitherto not been factored into rising temperatures. We know contrails (water vapour) has a strong greenhouse effect. Obviously, we would need to analyse temperature figures world wide, but it strange this unprecedented early chill arrives with COVID

Had to laugh yesterday their was one young girl ( 20's) who seemed to have some organisational role. She was asked by an ABC reporter what they hoped to achieve - & she got all flustered & said there are just so many issues she didn't want to concentrate on any one of them  Confused

Is Global warming occurring...and what is the best evidence..?

Whenever I think of this topic I remind myself of when this planet was in it's infancy, cooling and spewing out billions of tons on carbon dioxide etc etc...

If we are seeing global warming I am unsure there is anything we could do at this point to negate its progress. If the earths population is nothing but a algal bloom coming into final phase, or bacterial cycle etc, then we would all be gone anyways, if all we are worried about is a weather cycle that was doing it's own thing anyway, was given a bit more energy via our carbon output to complete it's cycle faster, then it all seems to point to one thing really...Competition for control of new energies driven by fear campaigns and bogus science.

How right you were 7 years ago Fiddles...   But you didn't allow for the ten year old Greta , emerging from the ruck.

We have now hit a very dangerous stage , As that young Horror is now 17
and could well breed , sometime soon .

And once again world temperatures break records

Last month was the warmest May on record with global temperatures 0.63°C above average, according to the European Union’s climate change monitor.

The last 12-month period also matched the hottest on record and was close to 0.7°C warmer than average, the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said.

It comes after the UK experienced its sunniest spring and driest May since records began.

Like Religious belief's ,   The real answer is simply, WE Don't Know.

Add Climate Change to that, as probably a cyclical , Natural occurrence.

     We Don't know.

Maxie, you should just post that denier zinger about how it got hot once in the 1870s so therefore climate change cannot be true, that'll end the debate.

We now have the "dictionary" of Climate Change.

The Young 17 year old lady Greta is right on the ball.    At that age they do know everything.

Prophets of Doom have been predicting,   since the beginning of time.

We are still here, so they are bad Punters.

Town in the Arctic Circle records temperature as hot as Florida

A town in Siberia is likely to have set a record for the hottest temperature in the Arctic Circle, reaching 38 degrees.

Verkhoyansk, which is 4828 kilometres east of Moscow and just inside the Arctic Circle, typically reaches a summer high of about 20 degrees.

If verified, this would be the hottest temperature on record in the Arctic, a region that is warming at more than twice the rate of the rest of the globe. Records in the town have been kept since 1885.

On Sunday, the same location recorded a high temperature of 35.2 degrees, showing the Saturday reading was not a fluke.

Of Course they have hot periods ...   How else do you think they would get something to freeze, when it gets cold in winter.

Plus their lettuce & Spinach won't grow in winter.

Your kind at heart , But didn't grasp what was written.

That was the Hot weather melts the ice so the cold weather has something to freeze when winter comes along.

Pointless for us to be Mad , if we don't produce the evidence.

Of course so knew this was just one of your convoluted theories to back up your conservative stance on the issue and despite the evidence, but 35+ degrees Celsius in the Artic Circle c'mon Maxie, surely you don't think that is normal?

I see there is a new Zinger about Greta trying to live without petroleum products doing the rounds on Facebook now Maxie, make sure to share it!
