Our of control bushfires out west sydney.
Its extremely windy.
hope people dont get arrogant and confident.
many people make the mistake of thinking it can never get near them, they are immortal etc.
its seriously windy today. could turn into anything.
lets hope they can somehow contain it.

I find sydneysiders are a bit lazy and carefree about fires.
victorians seem to be far more in tune with the dangers.

what might start as a grass fire and a few empty paddocks, can suddenly race to tall trees, flying embers, and before you know it, the fire is going everywhere.

Just lucky that Global warming isn't happening. The 342nd month In q row the world has wartmed, bushfires and 32 degree days in early September just all coincidence. Thankfully my newly elected government is doing something about this.

most of them have been started by the idiotic burn-offs they started two weeks ago...they were doing three areas yesterday...

the fire service is to blame...

over 100 asthmatic emergencies as well as many others suffering...

my daughter just messaged me she is sick from the smell of the smoke...and we live at Coogee...she is asthmatic...

I have rung my mother to keep track of her condition...I am in Qld...and not looking forward to coming home tomorrow...

I feel for the people out in the actual area...they were put in this position by incompetancy...

Yep, from FB: https://www.facebook.com/nswrfs  won't hyperlink

Fire has closed one northbound lane of the M1 northbound near Wyee
#MarsdenPark Fire: We can confirm 1 house has been destroyed at this #fire. #NSWRFS
Fire truck reported as destroyed at the #Londonderry Fire is a privately owned antique vehicle and not a #NSWRFS fire truck.

Ah well better late than not at all LOL

Recent very wet seasons have the state a real fire hazard.
The Putty Road from Windsor toward Singleton has many years of neglected growth and is long over due for a real bad season.

they should have started burn-offs two months ago...not waited till the weather warmed up...

very noticeable how they are not saying how the fires started...

Burning off is one of the most  effective ways of reducing the fuel load prior to the fire season. If they didn't burn off it would be a disaster.

i just heard, on a TV news bulletin,  a police officer say it is "believed " that 4 of the worst fires in western sydney are the result of arson.
it was also said that the fire at Winmalee, in the Blue Mts is at present burning out of control.
6 firefighters injured,,one with a heart attack.
an equestrian center has unrugged 45 horses and turned them loose on a closed road in the hopes they will make it.
another lady said she couldnt reach hers,,the smoke and heat forced her back, and they "are in there somewhere " as the camera focused on flames and smoke.
Brooke is right to say there is a huge horse population in those areas.   and no,,not like the studs in Scone, but its all small acres with a couple of horses everywhere in a lot of that area.
Munga Rangi is out there somewhere, , so pray for her . and for all the people and animals suffering tonight.

animals before people.

The fire at Windsor Downs is about 2km from us, the others, including the big fire at Londonderry/Castlereagh about 10km.......luckily my father taught me to be ready and for weeks now  I have been slashing, mowing, watering, clearing......getting ready. I am prepared - so it will be a matter of getting up to check through the night. I must admit to being nervy because the winds are still gusting outside and because it is now dark makes it worse as you cannot see where the smoke is coming from.
It is so hot and dry here and the wind has been absolutely howling all day. The Hawkesbury area has not been this dry so early for many years. Its got that real drought/wildfire feeling about it.

Pity you don't wait to hear all the facts before leaping to conclusions. Not very thorough for a writer.

Maybe time to take a deep breath.

On ABC4 about 8 minutes ago on a direct cross a RFS spokesman said the reasons for the fires were still being investigated.
It's hard to soar with eagles...

that 4 of the worst fires in western sydney are the result of arson.

for the past three days they have been burning off in two of those areas...strange that suddenly it escalates...ARSON? yes...by whom?

It was predictable...my nephew was a firefighter...he thought their timing was wrong, as well....

you just love to jump me, Whale... but you know nothing of the situation ......

If the Blue Mountains fire does what it did a few years back, my brother will be in danger as well...

Been coming for years in the area I had property . Putty. so much neglect clearing.     Good luck and will say a few for you. Yr Dad was right to be aware of the probabilities in that area. Pick the time late evenings to clear and burn.      Does seem silly if they were burning on such a hot and windy day.
