No.2 The Bostonian - 89. No chinks here. Genuine WFA group 1 horse, 1400m no trouble and looked ready to go recently, with his fresh record. Good overs! 2. No.11 Brandenburg - 87. Fresh form quality. 1400m is ideal and his George Ryder run had him competitive with this group of horses. I can not see much speed outside Dreamforce and Quackerjack so he can slide over from the outside. Again he looks good overs. 3. No.1 Dreamforce - 85. Will come across from the outside but if he can get a soft section mid race he can kick and give them something to catch. Will be in the finish somewhere. 4. No.4 Fierce Impact - 85. Was a little disappointing in the autumn after a briliant spring, but his runs were okay and his fresh run he was a little unlucky. Not sure how he is $16 but again that is good overs! 5. No.6 Imaging - 82. Very unlucky run first up. Looks to have come back in good condition. The 1400m suits and as long as he can sit not to far back, then he can finish over the top. 6. No.7 Master Of Wine - 82. On his fresh 1400m run last time in he wins this race, however he still has to tick winning at WFA. If he is back as good as he was in the autumn he wins! Might be better at 2000m, but looks well placed here. Fantastic off a slow speed in the Lawrence. 3. No.14 Perfect Jewel - 83. Has to overcome some severe history bias here as Southern Speed is the only mare to win this race since Saleous in 1996, but the mares usually run in the Lets Elope. Top effort fresh and looked to have taken some residual fitness from the winter Perth campaign. Maps as good as last years winner here and is in better form. 4. No.11 Dalasan - 80. Only reason he is in the top six is because he looks well placed here distance wise third up. Very disappointing last time out but they sat and sprinted so I will put the run down to that fact. If we can get some speed early he can sit a little forward than usual and finish hard, but for me he is still a length off the group 1 company. 5. No.13 Russian Camelot - 78. If he wins this he is the best horse in the country. I think he can do what Mr Quickie did last year and run on into a place, but I am looking for improvement from this run. 6. No.9 Master Of Wine - 77. Poor fresh, and on that effort there is no way he beats Fierce Impact home. However we saw Dreamforce improve off a bad run in that Winx Stakes so he is too good to jump off after one bad run. No surprise if he won! The barrier is a shocker but if he can find something to take him into the race up to the home turn he can finish off and win. 4. No.13 Angel Of Truth - 79. Going very well, and he ran like he was looking for the 2400m last time out. Now he has had the fitness grounding he can won this race. 5. No.11 Carif - 78. Is a bit of a non winner but this is his chance at the top level. He is a grinder, so he needs a clear run from the 600m but if the breaks fall his way he can win. 6. No.15 Paths Of Glory - 76. Needs to improve to beat Mugatoo home, but has been set for this. Going well enough to finish top four. No.13 Montefillia - 88. Have never been as certain of a horse being a 2000m horse, than this filly. Can use the gate over 2000m and sit forward and what ever beats her wins. 2. No.15 Favreau - 85. Loved the run in the Gloaming and again the 2000m at Randwick seems to be absolutely ideal at this point of his prep. His racing style by getting back and running on is going to see him need luck but he is as good a hope as Love Tap. 3. No.3 Love Tap - 85. Good win in the Gloaming Stakes and no doubt is a solid chance here. 4. No.1 Cherry Tortoni - 82. His first run in Sydney so he drops from that, but he ran second last start to a high quality 3yo (in my ratings opinion) and the 2000m suits ideally. Would love to see the Tait family colours salute in this race once again! 5. No.5 Bucharest - 79. He ran on well very late at Rosehill. Again the 2000m looks ideal and from the gate if he can sit a little closer in the run he could be the value in the race. 6. No.4 Street Dancer - 79. Getting fitter and his run ion the JRA Cup was good but it was to my ratings a low grade race and he steps up about four levels here. 6. No.4 Harbour Views - 72. Not sure what he is still doing here at WFA (the Coongy would have been a better option) but good luck to connections. Recommended Bet: $50 win No.6 russian camelot Precedent: No.6 Russian Camelot 1000 Guineas 1. No.3 instant Celebrity - 87. Great win last time out. I think she has the class to cover the field, and it is just whether she can run the 1600m but her class will take her a long way. 2. No.1 Hungry Heart - 82. Surprised she is here instead of the Spring Champion but again her class will take her a long way. 3. No.5 Vangelic - 80. Good effort in the Flight and to me she has more fitness improvement than HH. She can roll forward and give a good sight. 4. No.9 Odeum - 78. Comes through a lower level, but her last start win was indicative of a horse looking for 1600m. Drawn well and Walker hits his straps at this time of year. 5. No.4 Personal - 77. Thought she was a little disappointing last start, but on second watch she might have been looking for the 1600m. If she gets the breaks in the straight she can finish hard and win. 6. No.2 Thermosphere - 75. Still think she is better suited at 1200 and 1400m but she showed with her win last week that she can run well at the distance although she steps up a level here. From the gate she goes forward and can give a sight. No.3 Ole Kirk - 85. Only doubt is Caulfield but I am sure the Hawkes team has that covered. Great win last start and he is all class. 2. no.2 Kings Legacy - 83. Looks as though he has been trained to the minute for this race. Great run in the Golden Rose and has shown the 1600m is no concern, The only query is the gate and where he gets from that barrier, but if he gets a economical run he goes close. 3. No.1 Tagaloa - 81. I think his two runs this time in have been great. Wide no cover in the open age group 1 last tie out and kept going. Have always thought he was a 1600m horse and from the gate he does nothing until the turn. If gets the breaks he will go close. 4. No.11 Cambourne - 79. Looked every inch a Guineas horse finishing hard last start. Looks to be maturing just at the right time and he will get a nice run in the race. Could be the value. 5. No.4 Mamaragan - 76. Not sure he has come up this prep, but has the quality to win. His form is not the far behind Kings Legacy, but he does need to improve to win. 6. No.6 Crosshaven - 76. If he had drawn batter he would have rated higher. That gate and his racing style will see him have to do some work to get across. In top form coming into this and gets a good run. Can not believe we are getting nearly double figures. 2. No.5 Superstorm - 83. Back to the mile is ideal and his run was not bad in a high quality Turnbull. Can he draw a good barrier in a race, please. 3. No.2 Cascadian - 80. The 1600m looks suitable and finally he has drawn a gate to get a cosy run just behind the speed. 4. No.13 Junipal - 79. Is in career best form, loves the 1600m and has had a good grounding for this race. Not sure where he gets to from the barrier and he is a bit short in the market for me but he can win. 5. No.6 Chief Ironside - 76. Fantastic run fresh at Newcastle, however that form has not stood up since. Drawn a lovely gate for him to roll forward and he can give you a good sight as long as he settles and we have to go with the jockey for that. 6. No.14 Haarlech - 75. Once again the draw is the key here. He can be put into the race early and he will get every hope to run well. Add ins for the scratchings are No.8 & No.3 Recommended Bet: $30 win No.5 Superstorm $10 each way No.6 Chief Ironside Precedent: Please note there is no precedent for this race.
