Alright here we go with a very intriguing group 1.

Makybe Diva Stakes.

1. Sir Dragonet - 84. Has the class, and if we get a track with good give in it I can see him running well here. Maybe not a winning hope, but can run top four.
2. Fifty Stars - 100. I am right in one this fellow here. I can see speed early which will allow him to roll across from the wide gate and even if has to sit three deep with cover he gets his chance in the straight. Loves Flemington, his second up record is good and he can handle the softish conditions. I thought he was good enough first up. Except for Mo'unga and Sir Dragonet, the rest have to prove themselves at WFA at 1600m at group 1 level so for me the $31.00 is huge overs here.
3. Keiai Nautique - 80. I think he looks a nice type, but I am not sure I can back him here. This is a good strong field, but he is the improver and I am not sure how much improvement there will be from his fresh run. he can win and I might back him because I am a fan of his but the ratings say he can not win.
4. Imaging - 72. I have been on his back for 12 months, but as I said last start and I will continue to say, he needs to actually win one for me to back him. No surprise if he won but he can win without me.
5. Mount Poppa - 70. Not here, wait until he gets to 2000m and back to handicap class.
6. Incentivise - 78. Looks to be on the up, but he meets a quality field here. I know he has wet track form but for now I would prefer as dry as possible for him at this level. He can place, but for me he is not a winning hope.
7. Explosvie Jack - 78. Not yet. If he is to run at 1600m, 1800m and 2000m, it will take him four runs just to get warmed up.
8. Johnny Get Angry - 78. Similar to Explosive Jack, and you can add back to handicap class.
9. Aegon - 81. Looks absolutely well placed. However his 1600m form here in Australia is not as good as Mo'unga's, so he does need to have improved. I think he is unders in the market, but he is drawn well, the track condition should suit and he can win here.
10. Mo'unga - 100. Great run fresh! His 1600m form is good and his last start and his run behind Addeybb says he has the class to win here. His only Flemington run was a sensational effort behind Tagaloa when he got all the breaks on pace. The one to beat.
11. Colette - 83. As always the only thing she needs to win here, is a wet track and the wetter the better. If she gets those conditions she can win.
12. Tofane - 80. I am this ladies biggest fan, but seriously $4.80 for her first attempt at 1600m is a bit skinny (she should be double figures). Has the class to win, but this is a strong 1600m field and she will need to be at her very best to even get close here. Not for me, and I will watch her run!
13. Inspirational Girl - 84. I can not see any chinks here. 1600m is ideal, her second up record is faultless, she has drawn well to sit a little more forward than she was fresh and she handles dry and soft. Right in this.

Ratings

1. No.2 Fifty Stars - 100
2. No.10 Mo'unga - 100
3. No.13 Inspirational Girl - 84
4. No.1 Sir Dragonet - 84
5. No.11 Colette - 83
6. No.9 Aegon - 81
Add ins for any scratchings are No.3 & No.12
Recommended Bet: $30 win No.10 Mo'unga
$10 each way No.2 Fifty Stars
Precedent: No.13 Inspirational Girl

Summary: This is a very intriguing race. I thought except for Mo'unga all the other favorites look untested at the 1600m at group 1 level or they have not met as good a field as this, and so I am taking on most of them. Mo'unga is the clear top rater, his only run at Flemington was very very good. Aegon and inspirational Girl have drawn to get every hope, but they are stepping up to the top class here. Incentivise is a interesting runner, but for me I want to see him perform at this level before I step in and for me the drier the better in this grade. Tofane is one of my favorites, but first time at 1600m is for me a concern. Keiai Nautique is for me the up and comer, but again he needs to win one of these to be a bet for me. I have no doubt that the overs in the race is Fifty Stars. He has a very good second up record (which has basically been in good class all the time), he loves Flemington, he loves 1600m and his fresh run was probably one of his better fresh runs. He has to be a chance especially at the $31.00 on offer. All in all a good race on the cards!

Punters Club Investments.

$200 win @$6.00 No.10 Mo'unga
$60 each way @$41.00 + $7.00 No.2 Fifty Stars
$80 win @$8.00 No.13 Inspirational Girl
$50 Same race Multi No.3 Keiai Nautique to win + No.10 Mounga to run Top 4
$50 Same Race Multi No.9 Aegon to win + No.10 Mo'unga to run Top 4

Good luck and lots of success to all investors!

Always enjoy your assessments here Voyager.

And you've really come out big re Fifty Stars which is a huge call: particularly at $41 which is a quote I couldn't find anywhere.  But BOL.

FWIW I'm on Aegon at $9 and more particularly Inspirational Girl at $7, the latter featuring in your wagers.

I am dead in the water SC with Fifty Stars as the track is favouring those in the first three pairs.

Oh well I have the bet and crossing my fingers they all go mad wanting the lead and put it on for a back marker.

Alright after the Makybe Diva Stakes last week the Punters Club Balance is: -$730.00

So lets get started at Randwick.

George Main Stakes.

1. Kolding - 83. Did not get beaten far last start but he had every hope. He has good 1600m form including a win in this race a couple of years ago, but for me he is a better 1400m horse. If you like him you can back him but I need double figures at least.
2. Think It Over - 90. Great effort last start. He should get a similar run to that race and he will give a good sight. Clear winning chance.
3. Cascadian - 86. Going well enough and his rating drop second up was expected. he can bounce back but this is a quality field. Top four hope at best for mine.
4. Star Of The Seas - 81. He ran well last start behind a challenger for the best galloper in the country, but he has always been just short of beating these horses and that should continue here. Also the drier the better for him.
5. Riodini - 82. Like last time, he should sit on pace with little challengers. Can see him running well, but not winning.
6. Lion's Roar - 80. Ran as expected fresh. Out to 1600m suits, his second up record is good and he loves Randwick. Not suited at WFA so I will let him run without me.
7. Verry Elleegant - 100. She was just nosed out fresh behind a horse who ran well last week in Melbourne. Leading chance!
8. Shout The Bar - 80. Been a while since she showed her best, which for me is not good enough here anyway, so no bet here.
9. Hungry Heart - 82. Got going late after being held up at the top of the straight. I need to see her win at WFA before backing her but I can see her running well out to 1600m.

Ratings

1. No.7 Verry Elleegant - 100
2. No.2 Think it Over - 90
3. No.3 Cascadian - 86
4. No.1 Kolding - 83
5. No.9 Hungry Heart - 82
6. No.5 Riodini - 82
Add ins for any scratchings are No.4 & No.6
Reccomended Bet: $30 win No.7 Verry Elleegant
$20 win No.2 Think It Over
Precedent: No.2 Think It Over

Summary: Good strong field with a clear favorite. Verry Elleegant is the one to beat. Think It Over is a high class galloper and even though he needed the run last start he showed his class by winning. Personally I think the winner is in those two but Just about every other runner can run well and finish top four.

Punters Club Investment

$300 win @$2.60 No.7 Verry Elleegant
$200 win @$7.50 No.2 Think It Over

Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

1. Behemoth - 100. No knock here. Good weight carrier, loves the track and distance and he looks fit now, third up. Definite winning hope.
2. Probabeel - 100. One of the best mares in recent times and she looks well placed here. The only query will be if they get the forecast rain, but she can use the gate to position close to the speed and if she is within four lengths of them topping the straight she will go close.
3. Streets Of Avalon - 80. I thought her an well last run at 1600m. but he did that last year and came here and was shocking. I do not think he is racing as well as last year and his draw has me looking elsewhere.
4. Dalasan - 80. Has the quality to win but this is a track where he has not raced his best in the past. His previous form suggests he is one of the long priced horses who can run well here, but his racing style goes against him. No surprise if he won but not for me.
5. Beau Rossa - 90. This horse is in fantastic form. No trouble with the 1400m, drawn to sit right on the speed or right on its back and all he needs to get is the gaps in the straight. The drop in weight from the last start means he is the one to beat.
6. Buffalo River - 78. Could not win this last year and he meets a far superior field this time. For me he is not well weighted and I have not seen many win this race first up, so I can bet around him.
7. Sierra Sue - 84. She has drawn to get a similar run to that which she had when she won the Lawrence. Back to the 1400m suits and if she gets the gaps in the straight she can win.
8. Groundswell - 72. Good listed galloper, but outclassed here!
9. Aysar - 78. I do not like him, but he looks one of the horses in this race who has group 1 form, but will start at big odds and can place. Not a winning hope for me but can sneak a top four spot.
10. Irish Flame - 80. One of the best runs fresh all year last time out. I would be all over him if we were either at 1600m or Flemington, but unless he can sit closer from the gate, he will get lost in the ruck in the straight. On his form he is not a $46.00 hope, he should be about $19.00. so he is overs on form.
11. Romancer - 77. Can pull out a big run every now and then, but this might be too strong class wise.
12. Samizdat - 77. Has form around a couple of good gallopers in Perth, but he meets a genuine group 1 field here. No.
13. Amish boy - 87. I thought brilliant, everything is falling into place here, and he was looking a huge chance and then Tuesday we had the barrier draw. The good thing from the draw he has is that he has three horses immediately inside him who are genuine on pace runners, so if can come across and get three wide with cover he can still win. I have no doubt he will run top four.
14. Dice Roll - 75. Another who should roll forward. His form through the winter was good, but this is a huge rise in class. Not for me.
15. Regardsmaree - 79. Going well and if it was a small field where he could sit just behind the speed and get a soft run he would be a hope, but not in this race how it sets up for me.
16. Poland - 80. Not his type of race fresh. His 3yo form is okay but not at the highest level so I will take him on but I will have him in my Tri's and first 4's.
17. I'm Thunderstruck - 78. Improver but he was behind Poland and Amish Boy last season and I need to see him perform better than those two gallopers here.

Ratings.

1. No.2 - Probabeel - 100
2. No.1 - Behemoth - 100
3. No.5 - Beau Rossa - 90
4. No.13 - Amish Boy - 87
5. No.7 - Sierra Sue - 84
6. No.10 - Irish Flame - 80
Add ins for any scratchings are No.4 & No.3
Recommended Bet: $30 win No.5 Beau Rossa
$20 win No.2 Probabeel (if the track is in the soft range switch this bet to $10 each way No.13 Amish Boy)
Precedent: No.7 Sierra Sue

Summary: For me the top four raters are the wining hopes and with Amish Boy needing luck from his barrier the top three are clear of him. Beau Rossa gets everything needed to win here. The gate is ideal, the track condition looks ideal and he showed that with the weight drop he is as good as Behemoth. Behemoth has had a good last twelve months and the fact that he actually drops a kilo from last years winning effort shows that this field is a step up in grade so he will need his best to win. Probabeel is all class with a capital C and she will get a quality run and every hope. Amish Boy was mapping nicely in his prep until that barrier came up. he is a superior 1400m horse and I still think with his lightweight he can win here. Irish Flame was one of the best fresh runs of the year last time out and if this was 1600m or at Flemington I would be all over him but I am just worried the run he gets. If Matthew Cartwright can produce a special ride this horse fills the precedent of a country/provincial Victoria galloper with a lightweight doing well here. No surprise if Dalasan won, but I hate him at Caulfield. I will be adding Samizdat and both Aysar and Poland to my exotics. This is a good race, and as we say at the handicaps if you like one back your judgement!

Punters Club Investment

$150 win @$5.50 No.5 Beau Rossa
$130 win @$6.50 No.2 Probabeel
$60 each way @$15.00 + $4.20 No.13 Amish Boy
$94.50 trifecta 1-2-5-10-13/1-2-4-5-7-9-10-12-13-16/Field = 14%

Good luck and lots of luck to all investors!

Okay the Punters Club Investments are sitting at -$950.00.

So we start with the Moir Stakes.

Moir Stakes

1. Trekking - 80. The 1000m is too short for him to win but his fresh run was good, so he is a top four hope.
2. Wild Ruler - 87. This looks his chance to win a group 1 this spring. 1000m is ideal, has drawn to lead or sit on pace and will take catching. I still feel his form lacks depth but he is a winning hope.
3. The Inferno - 100. Great win last start. Proved himself there at WFA and against group 1 quality. Looks suited at the 1000m and he has drawn to gain a lovely run sitting right behind the speed. The one to beat.
4. Portland Sky - 87. Just needed the run fresh. Always improves second up and he can go very close here. Danger.
5. September Run - 80. I thought she ran as well as she can fresh around a turn, by the way she does fly fresh. Stuck at 1000m does not help her and unless there is a hot bias towards the swoopers she can not win.
6. Swats That - 78. Has always been in September Run's shadow. She has settled close in the past and if she can jump and settle close from the gate, she can go close.
7. Brooklyn Hustle - 74. Not in this race for me.
8. Ballistic Lover - 79. Good win last start and like her here fresh. There is speed on both sides of her so i am just worried about how much energy she has to use early. If she can save a kick for the straight she can go close.
9. Miss Albania - 70. Outclassed here.
10. Shaquero - 76. His form lacks depth but I am extremely wary that his trainer has him in a group 1 fresh so to me that tells me he is doing well at home. At the current quote of $31.00 he is an each way bet.
11. Profiteer - 78. He needs to reserve some energy in this race, but his form is stronger than Shaquero's with his second to Anamoe at 1200m great  form for this. I am certain that $4.00 is unders, but no doubt he is a genuine contender here.

Ratings.

1. No.3 - 100
2. No.4 - 87
3. No.2 - 87
4. No.1 - 80
5. No.5 - 80
6. No.8 - 79
Add ins for any scratchings are No.11 & No.6
Recommended Bet: $30 win No.3 The Inferno
                              $20 win No.4 Portland Sky
Precedent: No.11 Profiteer

Summary: There is an abundance of speed here and that makes this race extremely hard to assess. I have ended up settling with The Inferno because I think he will get a lovely run right behind the speed. Portland Sky ran okay fresh, but he does improve off his fresh run. The two three year olds are both hopes but they are front running types and will need to absorb some huge pressure here. Wild Ruler can sit behind the speed here and he can finish off. Ballistic Lover only knows one way, but she is definitely on the up and no surprise to see her win. September Run and Swats that are good but for me both need a dead set back marker bias. Trekking is good enough but for me 1000m is below his optimum distance. Good field with an intriguing speed map which will be all important.

Punters Club Investment.

$125 win @$4.50 No.11 Profiteer
$200 win @$6.00 No.3 The Inferno
$75 win   @$14.00 No.4 Portland Sky
$50 each way $41.00 + $6.50 No.10 Shaquero

Alright now on to our two group 1 races for Saturday.

Sandown

Underwood Stakes.

1. Fifty Stars - 75. I have his last start being his worst run of his career. Track should suit and out to 1800m might see improvement but if he wins I will dance naked at Goulburn railway station on Sunday.
2. Zaaki - 90. Only reason he is not on 100 is this is his first go in Melbourne. The long straight will suit and he looks a class above his rivals here.
3. The Chosen One - 80. As usual terrific run fresh. he does tend to drop his rating at his next start and while he can place in this small field he will not be winning.
4. Superstorm - 84. Strong win last start in the Feehan, but he did just beat a benchmark horse. The sixth horse behind him there did win the Sir Rupert Clarke last week and the fourth horse won the Naturalism. I do not think he can beat the favorite but he will keep him honest and if there is an upset he is it.
5. Probabeel - 82. She has the class but is she at her best at further than 1600m and what is the track condition, if it is wet she has buckleys.

Ratings

1. No.2 Zaaki - 90
2. No.4 Superstorm - 84
3. No.5 Probabeel - 82
4. No.3 The Chosen One - 80
5. No.1 Fifty Stars - 75
Recommended Bet: $50 win No.2 Zaaki

Summary: Not much to report here. If Zaaki is as good as we think he should win this by four. If the track was dry I could entertain Probabeel but the three main points for her are the 1800m, the possible wet track and is she racing at her best. Superstorm won a race last start which has already produced good form in handicaps, and the other two are not winning hopes although The Chosen One can run well.

Punters Club Investment

$400 win @$1.50 No.2 Zaaki
$  50 win @$16.00 No.4 Superstorm
$  50 win @$34.00 No.3 The Chosen One

Rosehill

Golden Rose.

1. Anamoe - 100. No chinks in his armour. His only run at Rosehill was a sensational effort in the Slipper where he just got to far back, however he should settle close enough to be within a winning position at the turn from his gate here. The one to beat.
2. Artorius - 80. His only unplaced run was in the Slipper here, but it was a cracker of a run. I think he is going well enough to be a hope here, but at this level I want it as dry as we can get it. On a good track , and sitting closer wide with cover he can win.
3. Captivant - 78. They need to use the gate with this guy. If they get two or three pairs back on the fence he is not a winning hope. Just fell in rating off his huge fresh run last start, which follows his  rating path last prep, and maybe he will need this one as well. He might be the Caulfield Guineas one out of this race but he can finish top four here.
4. Hilal - 78. His last start back on a big track was passable. I understand he was only a half length off Artorius last start but he did get 2.5 kilos off him there and he has not shown me that he has improved into this prep, so for me from the gate he is a non bet here.
5. In The Congo - 82. I do not see why this horse continues to start at double figures. While this is a full field I do not see a huge amount of speed and he will lead and be hard to run down again. Maybe the 1400m is a concern, but not for me at Rosehill.
6. Tiger Of Malay - 78. Going well but he needs to lift off his last start. The 1400m will suit and he wil get a lovely run so he has to be at least a top four hope.
7. Remarque - 80. Again he is racing well, but he has had his chance at his two starts this prep. He does look as though 1400m and 1600m will suit better so if he can sit closer in the run from the soft gate he can win.
8. Giannis - 84. I thought he was sensational last start, but for me he should be going to 1600m  and not back to 1400m. Despite this he is at a stupid price and so I will probably end up backing him.
9. Royalzel - 78. Again he is going well but he looks like 1600m+ is his go. Can run on but for me he wont be coming quick enough.
10. Coastwatch - 82. Here is your sleeper. Great win last start over a horse who went to Melbourne last week and ran well. He ran a cracker two back when just missing Tiger Of Malay, when he had to get around horses and come late. He goes up in weight here, but he is on the upward spiral and it looks like he will get to $31.00+ so for me is the longshot who can run very well.
11. Moridan - 70. This has come early, but he looks a promising type. Maybe more an autumn 3yo.
12. Jamaea - 80. From the good gate here she can sit forward of midfield. Personally I think she is the best 3yo filly in Sydney and while she might not be able to win she can place.
13. Startantes - 79. I am telling you all, do not sell her short here. Love the 1400m, she drops 2.4 kilos on her last start win at 1350m. Her win before that was against a leading Caulfield Guineas hope in Alpine Edge, who had no luck last week at Caulfield. With the lack of speed I can see her rolling forward and being close enough if good enough.

Ratings

1. No.1 Anamoe - 100
2. No.8 Giannis  -   84
3. No.10 Coastwatch - 82
4. No.5  In The Congo - 82
5. No.12 Jamaea - 80
6. No.2 Artorius - 80
Add ins for any scratchings are No.7 & No.13
Recommended Bet: $10 win No.2 Artorius
                              $10 each way No.8 Giannis
                              $10 each way No.12 Jamaea
Precedent: No.1 Anamoe

Summary: Anamoe looks a good bet, but if you ignore him, for me it is a wide open race. Down the page. Anamoe was good fresh and he showed he had come back, but he needs to improve his rating because that effort will not cut it here. Artorius needs to find a way to settle closer and from the gate he can might be bale to do that despite the lack of speed. Captivant's only hope is to roll forward and use the gate, Hilal improved last time out but he is a top four at best for me, I am still wondering why In The Congo always starts at double figures as he should get a nice lead here, Tiger Of Malay and Remarque have been racing well but they need to improve off those efforts and maybe the 1400m will assist with that. Giannis and Royalzel look Spring Champion horses but Giannis has the quality to win this, Coastwatch is not hopeless and he should get a lovely run from the gate with Rawiller aboard. Moridan looks promising but he looks more an autumn horse while I am no way selling the two fillies short. Jamaea on my ratings is the best filly in Sydney and Startantes is looking to go better for the Heathcote stable after Rothfire last year and she has put two sensational runs back to back in Queensland and trust me she has the ability to run really really well here. Very very intriguing race instore here.

Punters Club Investments.

$250 win @$2.20 No.1 Anamoe
$20 win + $30 place @$36.00 + $6.00 No.10 Coastwatch
$70 win @$11.25 No.2 Artorius
$50 win @$29.00 No.8 Giannis
Same race Multi $40 Top 4 No.12 Jamaea + No.8 Giannis
Same race Multi $40 Top 4 No.13 Startantes + No.8 Giannis

Good luck investors and lots of success to you all!

Before we get to our group 1 investments this weekend here is the Punters Club investment balance: -$1850.00.

Any chance we can get a few winners instead of seconds this weekend, well lets see.

Flemington.

Turnbull Stakes

1. Sir Dragonet - 100. Top quality run fresh. This distance is much more beneficial and, it looks like he will get conditions to suit. He will not want to be giving Verry Elleegant a start so he might have to sit a little closer than usual but he is a definite winning hope.
2. Explosive Jack - 78. I thought he was very good at a totally unsuitable distance fresh. Out to 2000m is better, but he is badly weighted here giving a nine time group 1 winner a kilo. Might need this one and I am waiting until he gets to 2400m+.
3. Incentivise - 88. Top effort last start but he meets a field here who are well suited at 2000m in a soft track. Mount Popa looks the only other genuine pace maker so he should get a lovely run like last time. Can win, but needs to have improved from his last effort.
4. Verry Elleegant - 100. Can not see why she can not make it back to back wins here. 2000m suits and should get conditions top suit. Damien Lane can follow the speed and do nothing until the last 300m. The one to beat.
5. Johnny Get Angry - 78. His form is horrible but that was to be expected. The 2000m is getting better and this race does have a habit of producing a stayer into the placings. He should be $101+ and I could back him for the place.
6. Chapada - 74. Handicapper who is not well placed here at the set weights and penalties. Look for him in a Moonee Valley cup or similar race.
7. Persan - 80. Sensational run fresh behind a horse who has since franked the form and who looks a progressive type. The 2000m is ideal, he loves Flemington and if they roll forward and he can make it a real staying 2000m race he can finish top four.
8. Colette - 83. Her form has been okay this prep but she really needs a heavy track to be a winning hope here. Even then I think others go just as well as her in those conditions.
9. Mount Popa - 77. Again he looks a handicapper to me so he is at least two kilos over what he should be. Not here.
10. Young Werther - 78. Not a second up horse and he was outpointed by Persan fresh so he is a no bet for me here.

Ratings.

1. No.4 Verry Elleegant - 100
2. No.1 Sir Dragonet - 100
3. No.3 Incentivise - 88
4. No.8 Colette - 83
5. No.7 Persan - 80
6. No.2 Explosive Jack - 78
Add ins for any scratchings are No.5 & No.10
Recommended Bet: $30 win No.4 Verry Elleegant
                               $20 win No.1 Sir Dragonet
Precedent: No.1 Sir Dragonet

Summary: This is a field with three genuine winning hopes and a few that could place. Sir Dragonet put in a top class effort fresh and he is right in this with the distance and conditions. Incentivise was good winning but for me he is too close at the weights. And Verry Elleegant is the one to beat. I think all the four year olds can finish top four but not win and I was very very taken with Persans effort fresh with 61 kilos, and now back down to 55.5 kilos and out to 2000m at Flemington he sets up as the stayer who can fill a place.

Punters Club Investments

$300 win @$2.50 No.4 Verry Elleegant
$100 win @$9.50 No.1 Sir Dragonet
$50 place @$10.00 No.7 Persan
$50 Same race Multi No.3 Incentivise to win No.1 Sir Dragonet top 4

Randwick

Flight Stakes

1. Four Moves Ahead - 90. Good win last time out and she looks like 1600m will be ideal. Has a barrier which might see her drop back, but if she can find a spot with cover she can win but she might be a tad short in the market.
2. Mallory - 80. She has been thereabouts but to me she has had her chance., except for the fresh run where she was interfered with by the horse who broke down. She is not one of mine but if you like her she should get a lovely run. I see she has been well backed already, but only a top four hope for me.
3. Swift Witness - 82. I thought she ran extremely well last start. The two who beat her home might be too strong late at 1600m here but I have learnt to not underestimate this stable when it comes to distance concerns with a horse.
4. She's All Class - 77. Never underestimate this stable, but I will leave her out of my win bets and just put her in the exotics.
5. Startantes - 85. From the gate I am not expecting her to get as far back as last week. She obviously is down in grade having taken on the boys and all she has to do to win is run the mile out, which for me is not a concern. Will go very close.
6. Latino Blend - 82. She was a month between runs last start and I thought she ran okay. Her racing pattern of getting back is not going to allow her to win more races than she loses. I see she is overs @$31.00 so she can give you a good sight but for me she is a top four hope.
7. Hinged - 74. Has a good record but she beaten a fair way against the boys in the Dulcify. That form did not hold up last week, so I will let her go here.
8. Von Trapp - 81. She was sensational last start, but again she has a style which sees her get back in the race. If she can find a clear run in the straight she can produce a run similar to Monetfilia last year and win.
9. Chill - 78. Not a abd run last start, but she needs to win one of these before I step in. I think she looks a nice Oaks filly, so if she was to back up in the Spring Champion she could be the filly from this race for that event.
10. Yearning - 77. I think she looks better suited in the Edward Manifold at Flemington but she will need luck to win this.
11. Lovemetender - 75. A huge upset if she was to even finish top four. No.
12. Fangirl - 70. It was a good win at Goulburn last week but not good enough to even place here.
13. Never Been Kissed - 73. Going well but this might be a filly for next autumn.
14. Stray - 74. Again like her previous stablemate Chill, she might be the Oaks filly in a months time.
15. Galactic Angel - 69. Nope, no way no how would I back her here.
16. Left Reeling - 69. Not sure what she is doing here.

Ratings.

1. No.1 Four Moves Ahead - 90
2. No.5 Startantes - 85
3. No.6 Latino Blend - 82
4. No.3 Swift Witness - 82
5. No.8 Von Trapp - 81
6. No.2 Mallory - 80
Add ins for any scratchings are No.9 & No.4
Recommended Bet: $10 win No.1 Four Moves Ahead
$10 each way No.6 Latino Blend
$10 each way No.8 Von Trapp
Precedent: No.2 Mallory

Summary: So I have it down to three winning hopes. Four Moves Ahead is very well placed at the 1600m but she is not a dominant top rater so she will need luck from the gate. Startantes was very good against the males last week. I think her only issue might be the 1600m but I am very happy backing her. And for me the long priced hope is No.8 Von Trapp, but her acing style is not great for giving her every hope. Latino Blend, Swift Witness, Mallory and Chill to my eye looks the Oaks filly so she should be running on.

Punters Club Investments

$130 win @$6.50 No.1 Four Moves Ahead
$200 win @$4.40 No.4 Startantes
$50 each way @$46.00 + $8.00 No.6 Latino Blend
$20 win + $50 place @$29.00 + $5.00 No.8 Von Trapp

Epsom Handicap. We have ourselves a really good handicap field, even though at the weights it is a quality handicap.

1. Mo'unga - 92. The only reason he is not on 100 is that he has to give some very nice horses a good chunk of weight here. Loves the track, loves the 1600m and he can handle wet tracks. On his Doncaster run he has to improve ash meets horses like Cascadian, Icebath and Dalasan worse at the weights, but he can win.
2. Cascadian - 77. He is racing well, but he is not quite as good as he was going into the Doncaster. Again like Mo;unga he has to give some quality horses weight here and I will by pass him in this.
3. Dalasan - 85. Loves Randwick, goes well at the 1600m and I thought he was okay last start in an inferior field. Drawn to get a lovely run and he has MacDonald on top so for me he is a winning hope.
4. Star Of The Seas - 80. Good run last time out and he can run well here especially if we get to a soft/heavy track. Top four hope for me.
5. Lion's Roar - 74. His form is not up to this standard. He looks like he needs racing and so he could be the Cantala Stakes horse from here.
6. Hungry Heart - 86. On form she looks one of the hardest to beat, but she needs it as dry as possible. If we stay in the dry range she can win.
7. Icebath - 100. I can not see any chinks in her armour. Loves Randwick, loves the 1600m, loves the wet (she is also good on dry) and her form has been very good at the shorter trips. My clear top rater.
8. Rock - 74. No chance here.
9. Riodini - 90. This guy is in outstanding form and he is weighted to win. One of the best hopes.
10. Aramayo - 88. This galloper is in serious form. He was just left a little flat footed when they sprinted last race, but he powered to the line. His previous run was close to Zaaki at the 1400m and will need luck late from the low gate but he is right in this. He does need the track to be as dry as possible, but if we stay at a soft 5 or better he is a winning hope.
11. Reloaded - 75. Comes through the lesser race on form for this and he did not win so for me if Waller/Boss can get this one to win this race they are genuine geniuses. Will put him in a top four exotic.
12. Private Eye - 86. Has been looking for the 1600m and he will get a lovely run from the barrier. One of the winning hopes.
13. Atishu - 82. Personally I do not think she can win, but she is improving right on schedule and I can see her running a top four place.
14. Discharged - 76. Not good enough as he comes through races which suited, unlike this one.
15. Ashman - 77. It was a top win last start but he steps up a few levels here and besides that race has been a very poor guide for this race.
16. Harmony Rose - 80. She can run well but for me she looks to be in need of the run. She might be the one for the Empire Rose from this race.
17. Sky Lab - 79. I thought his fresh run was poor, but last start run was very good. Might be looking for a bit longer, now, but if they use the gate and roll forward and sit closer with the light weight, he can place.

Ratings.

1. No.7 Icebath - 100
2. No.1 Mo'unga - 92
3. No.9 Riodini - 90
4. No.10 Aramayo - 88
5. No.12 Private Eye - 86
6. No.6 Hungry Heart - 86
Add ins for any scratchings are No.3 & No.13
Recommended Bet: $30 win No.12 Private Eye
                              $10 each way No.3 Dalasan
Precedent: No.10 Aramayo

Summary: This is a terrific handicap field. I have narrowed it down to five winning hopes. Down the page, No.3 Dalasan, who had a setback before his first start. Both his runs at Randwick have been very good and with MacDonald and the run he should get, he will be hard to hold out. No.6 Hungry Heart again loves the track and her form this prep has been good. The only question mark is the track condition and she needs it as dry as we can get it. No.7 Icebath is in good form and she loves the track, the 1600m and she can perform on dry or wet but the wet boosts her hopes. No.9 Riodini is in outstanding form and he will be hard to catch, while No.12 Private Eye has been set for this race and is coming to hand nicely. Mo'unga is a top quality horse and no surprise if he won while Aramayo is ion cracking form and he can win if the track is on the dry side.  Horses like Cascadian, Star Of The Seas, Atishu and the bottom two four year olds are all top four hopes.

Punters Club Investments.

$100 win @$11.50 No.7 Icebath
$100 win @$5.50 No.9 Riodini
$150 win @$8.75 No.12 Private Eye
$80 win @$10.25 No.6 Hungry Heart (if the track is soft 6 or better if the track is soft 7 or worse switch to No.17 Sky Lab)
$70 win @$23.00 No.3 Dalasan

Metropolitan Handicap.

1. Spirit Ridge - 78. Extremely disappointing run lasts start. I know he has the ability to win here, but he is giving weight to some really nice horses and so for me he is a top four hope at best. At least he will be on speed and he will love the conditions.
3. Quick Thinker - 84. Great effort last start and he will get conditions to suit, but the weight combined with the barrier and the fact he needs to sit right on the speed to be a winning hope, makes him a place hope at best for me. If he got across to lead without using too much gas, he could win, but that is a huge if.
4. Dashing Willoughby - 70. I swear if Waller and Nash can win with this horse I give analysis away. Stayers can pull a good run out of nowhere but only genuine Waller or Rawiller fans will be on him. I could just have $5 each way if he got to triple figures.
5. Angel Of Truth - 76. He was going alright until last start. I have been a fan of his, but he just needs too many things to go right and so he will run without me.
6. Mirage Dancer - 81. Defending champion and his form is probably a little more solid coming into the race this year. I still think he can run well, but only a top four for me, from that barrier.
7. Warning - 72. What is he doing here? His record at Randwick is horrendous, His last run was okay, but he should be at Flemington. Obviously the stable do not think he is up to the better stayers this spring so while I respect the stable top four at best.
8. Montefilia - 84. I am still doubtful about her at 2400m, but her two runs back have been good. For me she has about two kilos more than she should and combined with the fact that she has drawn wide and that she will get right back, I will bet around her.
9. Attorney - 82. Loved his run last start. Absolutely looking for the 2400m and coming into form at the right time. If you look at his stats at Randwick they are shocking but most of them have been at unsuitable distances and his run in the ST.Leger last spring when right with She's Ideel when giving her 4 kilos was good enough to win here. The best longshot in the race, and again he ahs MacDonald on board.
10. Le Don De Vie - 75. Has not really come on since his good Geelong Cup effort. On that run he is with a hope, but depsite having the Freedman/ Boss combo, from the gate he can run without me.
12. She's Ideel - 92. Comes into this with the best form. She is the clear top rater but the barrier makes it tough. Can win.
13. Harpo Marx - 73. Had good form, but last start was shown up in better class. Should get a lovely run, but not for me.
14. Entente - 79. Good win last week, but that race has been a complete waste of time when looking for the winner in this race. Stable are smoking hot and he can run well, but he can run without me.
15. Great House - 79. Good win at Newcastle and that race winner can bob up every now and then, but I doubt we will see that this year. He can run well, but he will not win.
16. Hush Writer - Has not run well since this race last year when he finished fourth. I just can not see him improving here. He will go forward and try and hold on but I just can not see him beating all his opponents.
17. No Compromise - 82. My understanding is that the stable thought he was spot on and did not need the run last week. I hate the Newcastle Cup as a form reference, but on 50 kilos and drawn to do no work early, I have to include him in my winning hopes.
18. Charms Star - 76. Not on last weeks run. If we were to get to a soft 7 or heavy 8 maybe, but not for me.
19. Luncies - 77. Got home okay, but still no challenger at Newcastle. Aiming a little too high here.
20. Zeyrek - 80. Good run last start behind She's ideel. If the inside is not off by this race he is a good chance here. I also like him at Flemington, but if they are here and get the run, he can go close.
21. Long Arm - 70. For me he looks an ideal Lavazza horse. Outclassed here.

Ratings

1. No.12 She's Ideel - 92
2. No.3 Quick Thinker - 84
3. No.8 Montefilia - 84
4. No.9 Attorney - 82
5. No.17 No Compromise - 82
6. No.6 Mirage Dancer - 81
Add ins for any scratchings are No.20 Zeyrek & No.14 Entente
Recommended Bet: $20 win No.12 She's Ideel
                              $5 each way No.9 Attorney
$10 each way No.17 No Compromise
Precedent: No.20 Zeyrek

Summary: Not sure we will be seeing the Melbourne cup winner racing here, but there are some nice up and coming stayers, taking on the successful types. This is a race where the condition of the track will have a huge baring on the outcome. She's Ideel is the one who handles both wet and dry and she come sin in good form. Montefilia is the equal favorite with Entente but I am waiting until I see her win at 2400m before backing her. I think No Compromise is Waller's best hope. Attorney and Zeyrek look overs and they can run well. Last years winner can defend here while if we do get a heavy track Quick Thinker can go close. Entente comes through a race which ahs been a terrible guide to this event so he can win without me. I respect the Anthony and Sam freedman stable and no surprise to see either of their two win here, but they should be at Flemington if they were racing well.

Punters Club Investment

$120.00 win @$8.75 No.12 She's Ideel
$80 win + $100 place @$23.00 + $5.50 No.9 Attorney
$60 win @$18.00 No.17 No Compromise
$60 win @$14.00 No.20 Zeyrek
$30 win + $50 place @$46.00 + $8.50 No.7 Warning

Good luck to all investors and lots of success with your investments!

Okay onto our Punters Club investments and our balance is -$2538.00.

So lets see if we can put a dent into that deficit.

Might And Power Stakes

1. Homesman - 90. Equal top rater, but only because of the small field and his racing pattern. Zaaki will sit right on his backside and should go past him, but he is a tough horse and likes Caulfield. Looks the danger if there is one.
2. Zaaki - 90. I can not see anything that will beat him, but this race is none as the favorites graveyard. Just wins.
3. Nonconformist - 70. Handicapper who is way out of his league here. Likes the track and distance, but top five at best.
4. Nickajack cave - 60. You have to start your prep somewhere and he picks up a some good money for his owners, that he would not get elsewhere.
5. Probabeel - 80. Has the class to mix it with these but 2000m will test, although if Homesman holds up it might turn into a sit and sprint, but still second is her best hope here.
6. No Effort - 65. Not suited here and not sure 2000m is ideal ta this level.

Ratings.

1. No.2 Zaaki - 90
2. No.1 Homesman - 90
3. No.5 Probabeel - 80
4. No.3 Nonconformist - 70
5. No.6 No Effort - 65
6. No.4 Nickajack Cave - 60
Recommended Bet: $50 win No.2 Zaaki
Precedent: No.1 Homesman

Summary: Not much to say here. This race has been known to provide an upset, but all things equal Zaaki looks to good. Homesman is not hopeless and I wonder how they will ride him, will they make it a strong 2000m or sit and sprint? Probabeel should finish third.

Punters Club Investments

$500 win @$1.35 No.2 Zaaki

Caulfield Guineas.

1. Anamoe - 86. I have no doubt he is the best horse in this race, however there are several issues I have when it comes to his chances here. The barrier is a huge concern, which then doubles into where does he sit during the race. Has he fully recovered from his setback at the beginning of his prep? He has also shown twice (in the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper) that overcoming any disadvantage is just a little beyond him. And his best win was when everything went absolutely perfect, which again makes me ask can he overcome any difficulties he might encounter. Deserving favorite and if Oliver can sit closer but three wide with cover and follow one into the straight he could be too good for them.
2. Artorius - 82. Again the barrier is shocking for him. I can see him being slow out of the gates and Lane switching him to the outside, but despite his talent his racing style is shocking for this race. I like him as a horse, but @ $3.90 he can run without me.
3. Tiger Of Malay - 80. Has the talent to run well and from the gate he should get every hope. If this was 1400m I would have him right in it, but the last 100m will test him and for me there are stronger milers in the race. Top four hope, and if he got to $21.00 I could have something each way.
4. Alpine Edge - 84. Looks like he has everything to run well here. Drops in weight from the penalty in the Prelude, draws to sit right behind the speed (which he can do), the 1600m looks ideal and comes here nice and fresh off a good and unlucky debut in Melbourne. He should be looking the winner somewhere in the straight and @$18.00 he looks the overs.
5. Captivant - 78. Not sure he has the class to win here. Has found a few better than him at this level (except when he won the Champagne when he had all the favors). drawn wide and for me he is one of the roughies in the race.
6. Lightsaber - 79. The draw makes it hard, but he is going well. Not sure he has the class of some others so he will need some favors on speed. Will need an absolute gem from Nolen to even place.
7. Giannis - 77. For me he was extremely disappointing in the Golden Rose. Up to the 1600m should benefit, but unless Prebble can situate him close to the speed from the gate he is a top four hope for me. I do think he has the quality to win this but he needs everything to go right. He does look value at the prices.
8. Forgot You - 79. He looked gone on the turn at Moonee Valley last start but rallied to finish strongly. He looks more a 2000m horse to me so with that in mind I have to take him on here as those types can run well but not win. No surprise if he ran a place but he can not win.
9. Coastwatch - 88. Surprised many last start but not us. A top run when a month between runs. The draw should not worry as he will roll forward and I can see him sitting right on the speed and being hard to run down. The bookmakers either no something or else that $16.00 on offer is just because they do not have a huge liability on him, but for me he is the one to get past late.
10. Mr Mozart - 81. Going well and he should  get a lovely run from the gate. I did think he had every chance last start and he was run down but he can run well if things go his way.
11. Daily Bugle - 78. To me he looks the derby horse from this race, but he will be run off his feet here. Needs a really red hot speed to come home and make the top four.
12. Knightstown - 68. No chance from my ratings.
13. Dark Rebel - 70. I have a feeling he has a good win in him, but to me he looks a derby type. His run two back in the Dulcify has him close to Giannis and Tiger Of Malay but that will not be good enough to win here. For me if they charge from the gates and make it a real staying test he could hang on for a place.
14. Zerelle - 68. If he wins it will be a bigger upset than Mighty Boss a few years ago.
15. Riverplate - 68. Was going well into last run but that was a shocker. Maybe back to Caulfield and his run in the prelude was okay, but he meets Alpine Edge 3.5 kilos worse off from that so he needs a huige piece of improvement to finish top half here.
16. Prix De Turn - 70. No surprise if he is scratched here as he looks a promising type who will be far better aimed at the Carbine Club and Sandown Guineas. It was very very good debut and if he did not have so much to overcome here (weight hike, class hike, barrier and his likely racing position of dropping back) then he might have some hope. The owners should scratch him and then run in the 1400m race next week and into those two previously mentioned races.
17. Hitotsu - 74. Don't think he can win, but no surprise if he ran top six.

Ratings.

1. No.9 Coastwatch - 88
2. No.1 Anamoe - 86
3. No.4 Alpine Edge - 84
4. No.2 Artorius - 82
5. No.10 Mr Mozart - 81
6. No.3 Tiger Of Malay - 80
Add ins for any scratchings are No.8 & No.6
Recommended Bet: $10 win No.1 Anamoe
$10 each way No.4 Alpine Edge
                               $10 each way No.9 Coastwatch
Precedent: No.9 Coastwatch

Summary: Well I feel a sense of de javu here. Just like the Golden Rose, you either think Anamoe isa good bet or you are struggling for the winner. Personally I just feel that Anamoe will once again fall short having to overcome the bad barrier but I can see why he is well backed. Artorius has a shocking barrier and for me personally he is a big lay in the race. Coastwatch ran well for us last start and he will roll forward from the wide gate and he can be hard to run down. Alpine Edge is good enough to win here and he is the one from the Prelude to follow. Giannis and Forgot You are good enough but they might be looking for longer. Tiger Of Malay, Lightsaber and Mr Mozart are all genuine top four hopes. Captivant can run top four but not win.

Punters Club Investments.

$150 to win @$3.20 No.1 Anamoe
$30 win + $70 place @ $23.00 + $4.60 No.4 Alpine Edge
$30 win + $70 place @ $21.00 + $4.60 No.9 Coastwatch
$100 win @$4.50 No.2 Artorius
$20 win + $30 place @$36.00 + $6.00 No.7 Giannis

Toorak Handicap

1. Tofane - 80. I love her as she has been kind to me but this race is a totally different kettle of fish to anything she has raced in. 1600m is a huge doubt, the weight she has to give some good horses looks too much and her Caulfield form is okay without being outstanding. Should get a lovely run right behind the speed from the gate and she will look the winner at some stage but that last 100m will be tough. Not for me.
2. Superstorm - 87. Backed him in this last year and he ran well from back in the field. I have a feeling that will the case again and despite dropping a kilo from last year and being in better form I am just having trouble seeing him secure a good run during the race. For me he is a top four hope.
3. Sierra Sue - 80. Finally fulfilling her potential, but there are still queries. Up 3.5 kilos in weight, drawn awkwardly and I still have doubts about her at the 1600m. In career best from so I have to have her a hope, but I need double figures.
4. Elephant - 86. Looks to be the up and comer and he is in good form. Steps up to a group 1 field here, but he looks ready for the test. The one to beat.
5. Lunar Fox - 82. Before I go on I will confess I have already taken $101.00 for him. I absolutely wish this was run at Flemington. Still he sets up nicely here. The draw is not that bad becuase he has shown in the past he can sit three wide, as long as he has cover. The 1600m is his pet distance and third and fourth up are ideal. He is beautifully weighted and if he gets the breaks in the straight he will be strong at the end. Definite top four hope.
6. Dice Roll - 80. Great effort last start but I am not as keen on him at 1600m. He rises in weight, he rises in grade and while he will get a lovely run on speed and for me his best position will be a top four place again.
7. Harbor Views - 80. I think he is capable but prefer him at Flemington  or Moonee Valley.
8. Quantum Mechanic - 81. Looks to be peaking fitness wise on the right day. She looked still short of  a run and this is where she should be hitting her peak fitness level for the prep. Drawn to roll forward and sit on the speed or just behind it and she will be strong late. Definite winning chance.
9. Aysar - 77. Looks below this level. Distance stats no bad, but they are not as good as his 1400m form so for me he is a no bet.
10. Irish Flame - 75. Maybe that fresh run just took it out of him, but while 1600m will suit better he looks a top five hope at best.
11. I'm Thunderstruck - 82. Good effort last start when just got far back. Drawn absolutely lovely here to get a much softer run in race, and if he has come on from his fresh run he is right in this.
12. So You Assume - 84. I have no doubt that her form is at a lower level, but that last win, and her racing style mean she is hitting this race at just the right time in her career. Might be a little beyond her class wise, but she is good value at around the $21.00 mark.
13. Second Slip - 75. Comes through the South Australian form and while he is a nice group 3 or listed horse he is outclassed here.
14. Embolism - 70. Not with your money!

Ratings.

1. No.2 Superstorm - 87
2. No.4 Elephant - 86
3. No.12 So You Assume - 84
4. No.11 I'm Thunderstruck - 82
5. No.5  Lunar Fox - 82
6. No.8 Quantum Mechanic - 81
Add ins for any scratchings are No.1 & No.3
Recommended Bet: $10 win No.4 Elephant
$10 each way No.5 Lunar Fox
$10 each way No.8 Quantum Mechanic
Precedent: No.8 Quantum Mechanic

Summary: This is a very good race to do the form for, with form coming from different directions. From the top Tofane is a classy mare but she is severely disadvantaged at the weights and while there have been some who have been able to carry the big weight but they were genuine milers. I will let ehr run without me. Superstorm, Elephant and Sierra Sue all come through with winning form, but  Sierra Sue still needs to show me she is a genuine miler and so the two males are the best of that group with Elephant being the one to beat. If this was being run at Flemington I would be all over Lunar Fox, but even so the $101.00 on offer was ridiculous and I see he is now into $51.00 which is still overs. I liked Dice Roll's run last start, but on my ratings he does go better at 1400m than the mile. Harbor Views is capable but I prefer him at Flemington or MV. Quantum Mechanic is just hitting her peak and she will sit forward and get every hope while Aysar and Irish Flame are not winning hopes for mine. I'm Thunderstruck was very good last start and he should get every hope from the gate and So You Assume was awesome last start and if she can get across without to much hassle she can place. The bottom two are stepping up many levels in class and can not run top four. As we always say in handicaps, if you like one here back your judgement.

Spring Champion Stakes

1. Head Of State - 82. Looked good stretching out late last start. The 2000m looks ideal and he looks the one they have beat.
2. Profondo - 84. Looks on the up and if he can mend his wayward traits when at full gallop he can win.
3. Alegron - 82. Will eat the 2000m and he can improve off his recent form but he has to. Definite place hope.
4. Benaud - 83. That Gloaming run was the exact tune up run for this event. I think he is improving at just the right time and for me is the one to beat.
5. French Emperor - 76. Was going well into the last run but that was a shocker. He looks suited to 2000m but he needs to improve.
6. Raging Bull - 75. Again he is going to eat the 2000m but he looks outclassed.
7. Inverell - 68. No.
8. Patton - 68. Forgive me for saying, but this guy has looked as slow as molasses in his runs this prep. Maybe the 2000m will suit but I swear if he wins this is a very very weak field of group 1 horses.
9. Clyde - 65. Ahh, how can I say this politely, not if he had a 200m head start.
10. Satirical Glory - 76. I thought his run last start was not that bad. He got a long way back, and was coming into it but just did not get a clear crack at them at all in the straight. Best longshot in the race.
11. Never Been Kissed - 81. Looked strong to the line last week. I am not sure she can win, but will be somewhere in the finish.
12. Chill - 78. Has always looked like 2000m was ideal and I can see her getting a lovely run. Looks overs at $21.00.
13. Bulloo - 72. This stable always go well when they bring one to Sydney but she can run without me as her form has no depth.

Ratings

1. No.2 Profondo - 84
2. No.4 Benaud - 83
3. No.1 Head Of State - 82
4. No.3 Alegron - 82
5. No.11 Never Been Kissed - 81
6. No.12 Chill - 78.
Add ins for any scratchings are No.10 & No.5
Recommended Bet: $20 win No.1 Head Of State
                              $10 win No.4 Benaud
                              $10 each way No.12 Chill
Precedent: No.4 Benaud

Summary: Comes down to five hopes for me. The top four in the racebook and No.12 Chill. I think the males have it and so No.1 Head Of State can do the Shadow Hero double. No.4 Benaud was very good late last start and Randwick, the barrier and the 2000m look variables to give him every hope. Never Been Kissed and Chill can both run well, but for me Chill is the better hope out to 2000m.

Punters Club Investments.

$200 win @ $4.80 No.1 Head Of State
$140 win @$15.00 No.4 Benaud
$30 win + $50 place @$29.00 + $5.50 No.12 Chill
$30 win + $50 place @$81.00 + $11.00 No.10 Satirical Glory

Good luck to all investors!
