Videos Show Baby Putting Gun in Mouth, Police Say; Indiana Couple Arrested

POSTED 11:53 AM, JANUARY 12, 2015, BY TRACY BLOOMUPDATED AT 03:23PM, JANUARY 12, 2015

An Indiana couple was arrested on multiple charges after police found cellphone videos of an infant playing with an apparent .40 caliber handgun, authorities said.

The videos were discovered during an investigation into 19-year-old Michael Barnes after he was arrested last Thursday for allegedly trying to sell a firearm to an undercover officer, according to a news release from the Evansville Police Department.

At the time of the arrest, Barnes had an active warrant for armed robbery, authorities said.

Police detectives and investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were checking his cellphone records for evidence when they found two videos of a baby playing with the handgun that appeared to be the one recovered in the attempted sale, the release stated.

The videos, which were released by police and obtained by CNN, showed the 1-year-old girl playing with the gun while voices can be heard telling the baby to say “pow” and “bang” on multiple occasions.

She can also be seen placing the muzzle of the gun in her mouth.

Barnes and the girl’s mother, 22-year-old Toni Wilson, were both allegedly present when the videos were made, police said.

When officers confronted Wilson about the video Friday afternoon, she claimed it was a pellet gun, police said.

The baby’s mother was later arrested on suspicion of child neglect, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and allowing a child to possess a firearm, the released stated.

Barnes faced the same charges, in addition to the ones stemming from his initial arrest that included resisting law enforcement with a weapon and carrying a handgun without a permit, according to the release.

The suspect is not the dad of the 12-month-old girl, but he is the father of 1-month-old twins.

All three children were placed into emergency care as the investigation into the couple continued.

Daredevil dies in homemade rocket disaster on mission to prove Earth is flat

Washington: In December, buttressed by his conviction and advances in homemade rocketry, "Mad" Mike Hughes flipped on a camera and fantasised about the moment when he shows mankind that it lives on a verdant disk.

The plan was simple: fire into the sky on a steam-powered rocket and trigger a balloon to carry him to the Karman line, the 62-mile-high barrier that separates terrestrial from the extraterrestrial, filming the entire way. "For three hours, the world stops," Hughes said during a live stream.

Hughes, a self-styled daredevil, flat-Earth theorist and limousine stuntman, died on Saturday when his jury-rigged contraption propelled him on a column of steam, spiralled through the air and cratered into the sagebrush outside Barstow, California. He was 64.

"It was unsuccessful, and he passed away," longtime collaborator Waldo Stakes told the Associated Press, declining to comment further.

A video on TMZ.com showed the rocket taking off, with what appears to be a parachute tearing off during the launch. The steam-powered rocket streaks upward, then takes around 10 seconds to fall straight back to earth. Shrieks can be heard as the rocket plows into the desert.

Freelance journalist Justin Chapman, who was at the scene, said the rocket appeared to rub against the launch apparatus, which might have caused the mishap with the parachute.

Uncle Sam isn't all bad despite what this thread was originated to display.  Here is a recent article that shows US and Australian cooperation.

PT'S anti-Uncle Sam sentiments were well established before Trump. His thinking is like a toilet. It has only functioned in one direction. What a surprise to see Whale's negative attitude towards yanks too.LOL

Au contraire dear Shammy, I am very pro Uncle Sam.

As soon as normal sane transmission is resumed in your country, the tone of these threads will be much more positive.

Yea, right. Are you Browndog or PT on this thread? I once thought Browndog had something smart to say.  The name change was a step down for you. If you think sane politics and unbiased fair politicians are the required basis for your opinion of the states, dream on as the states are more stronger  than that and certainly more reliable than the actions of any President. You need to visit here because this country and we yanks are more than a daily news headline where you appear to have parked your opinion. When you only look for the worst that is all you see.  Minnesota is only one state out of 50 with a population of 5.8 million out 340 million in the states. The protests and shootings are tragic and yes, indefensible, but you misjudge many of the events in the states because of your TDS.

Naivety about the states and my political philosophy is the standard for your opinions, isn't it? You can't make me look stupid when you post dumb dumb inaccurate stuff about me. I can support a political agenda without being in bed with its enacters. Like I said,Uncle Sam is more than tragic headlines you prefer to posts.

Only in America would someone say to you, "Put your John Hancock here."

You naturally highlighted minority doings to prove your point.

 How surprising...

The fact that Labor won so comprehensively in the last election says the general public do not generally think like you.

 Get it?

On a two-party preferred basis, the ALP is now on 56.5% (up 3% from a week ago) ahead of the Coalition on 43.5% (down 3%). When preferences from this week’s Roy Morgan survey are allocated based on how Australians voted at the 2025 Federal Election the two-party preferred result is closer than the respondent allocated preferences with the ALP on 54.5% (up 1.5%) leading the L-NP Coalition on 45.5% (down 1.5%).
