Well, with Tiger winning at Bay Hill he has leap-frogged McIlroy in to outright favouritism for next weeks US Masters. Can he do it?
Here are my tips on the event: Winner: Phil Mickelson - $12 Best Aussie: Jason Day - $41 Roughie: Brandt Snedeker - $81 Odds from Sportsbet.com.au

I went out and seen Brandt Snedeker play a few years ago when he was out here and he is a very good golfer. He is worth $20 each way at 80s

Phil Mickleson will win the Masters.
Adam Scott and Jason Day will thrive with last years confidence riding with them. Aussies have always needed confidence at Augusta, and both Day and Scott will have this confidence. I think at some stage, one of these guys is going to be hanging around the top 5 again, right in contention. Tiger Woods? I like two things about him at the moment. He is swinging within himself again, his drives are more controlled, but most of all, his Putts are tracking to the hole very well. He is seeing the line better again. He is aggressive with uphill putts, and weighting the downhill putts with finesse. Magic ingredient for Augusta. Just stupid to rule him out. Just a hedge bet for mine though, at those short odds. Would rather back Mickleson at double figure odds, with an impeccable Masters record, and seriously good short game. Outsiders? Justin Rose continues to impress. Many people have been surprised with him recently. Charles Schwartzel, proven at Augusta, and not much can go wrong with that tight swing of his. Rory? he really will be looking forward to this. His chance to stare down the tenth fairway and look the demons right in the eyes, and know that his career turned for the better, despite losing on that tenth hole. That hole, ironically, is the hole that has now stamped him as a great of the game, because he uses that tenth hole now as leverage to stay in control. I would love to see Rory win. Can an Aussie finally win? Padraig Harrington, never seems to do well at Augusta, but Ive been a fan of his since his back to back British Opens. If Augusta throws up some tricky conditions, Padraig at odds of $100 might be okay. Phil Mickleson to win. Ready to grit his teeth again after seeing Tiger win last week. And those galleries love Phil. |

i have not been this excited about a golf tournamnet for a long time. i have always loved the masters but the having of easter longweekend and the masters together is perfect.
the talk from the american correspondants is that golf will have its biggest and most watched day 1 of a golf tournament ever. with tiger, phil, mccilroy and co the interest is through the roof. if tiger can be close on sunday it will be set up for a massive ending to one of the worlds great events. kanga is doing his best to get the world on Stenson and Paul gow, the ex tour player, was on the radio also giveing him a shot. was shocked to see him payin $151 on the TAB. i am backing angel cabrera and have to back stenson in case kanga wants to go on a cruise to celebrate all his winnings.

Paul Gow's tips are usually spot-on...you can make a mint backing them... Stenson should have been in front...one stupid hole killed him... |

From what I saw, I think you can easily eliminate up to 17 players of the current top 20 on the leaderboard
Tigers driving was woeful again. Cant win Phil Mickelson is simply gone. Playing terrible. Cant win. Stenson actually played terrible and got to 5 under. But cant win. Rory played terrible. Gone. There were so many bad shots round 1. There are only 3 winning chances now. WESTWOOD. Still looking solid. OOSTHUIZEN. Looking very good. How is he paying $15. Value HARRINGTON. Apparently the wind is going to pick up, this is the man. $67 The rest of the field was terrible round one. Many wayward drives, many poor swings. They cant recover in time. |

I am not sure where to start here. Anyone that follows golf knows that you don't win tournaments on Thursday. Thankfully, it's fools like you Occy, that allow the rest of us to get good odds on McIlroy and Mickelson after the first round.

Octavious- hope you watched Stenson today on the 18th you muppet!
He birdied the hole. That was a pretty impressive result considering the memory of the day before. He's only a few shots off the lead and looking good. Especially considering he started at 300/1. I sold a bit of him d |

I sold a bit of him for a $660 profit and still have him going for $6,000.
Also have Jimenez for $1500, Watney for $1200, Hanson for $2000, Byrd for $2500 and I just backed O'Hair at 120/1 for $20 in the hope of trading him after round 3 |

Watney is a chance
Im sticking with Ooooostenhousen and Westwood. There have been far too many terrible shots by others. If someone like Mickleson can get it all together, then so be it. As of now, the topline players are lucky to even be near the lead. Still want to see Rory win. The truth is, the standard has been woeful so far. Not that the host network would admit to that. Although they did highlight all the pathetic shots up the 18th. Just hope the standard picks up over the weekend. |

Was confident before the start and even more so now that Mickelson will take this out. He plays super around Augusta and he's recovered well, especially given his first day. Hanson played so well today but I think with the crowd behind him and his putter working well, Mickelson will win.

Playoff betwwen Oosthuizen & Bubba.
Mickelson's triple on the par 3 early on left him with too much to do sadly.
