The biggest know it all i think i have ever listened to.
Have a look at the guys tweet from a function to raise funds last night, i wonder what he expects at a sportsman function, i remember years ago the fool had a go at the socks plate at Moonee Valley which was raising funds for a childrens hospital i think.
Sad when people get a chip on their shoulder, Shane no one gives a stuff what you think about a sportmans function, you are a allegedly a racing journalist but i think you are a spokesman for the TAB and Sky actually.
I keep reading this blokes tweets bagging racecallers but i have never seen one about  victorian caller, apparently no one has made a mistake in that state, well i would beg to differ, shows what a hypocrite the bloke is.
I have been in Melbourne on business for a few weeks and have listened to the ego hour twice say, this is very sydney.
What is very Melbourne, jockeys threatening to kill stewards and being implicated in murder investigations and race rigging, GIVEMEASPELL ANDERSON.

Shane's good at taking criticism onboard, if constructive, but wasn't he merely pointing out the archaic, homophobic, bigoted, insensitive and unfunny dribble from Sam Kekovich? He had a point.

Havent heard him ask anything remotely hard about Tabcorp rebates to large punters robbing rank and file punters.
Havent heard him blow up about punters being asked to pay for Sky 2 when races are switched from sky 1 constantly and how other codes punters have to fork out extra just to watch their code.
Havent heard or seen him tweet once about any victorian race caller but others seem to cop a caning, thats hypocritical.
i could go on all day
If we apply SA stance of last night to racing, how dare people inject dumb animals with whatever they are injected with and flog to run faster and ask to jump over fences and risk their lives for out pleasure, thats apply shanes rules from last night to racing.

I confronted him on another issue some time ago which i disagreed with, at no time was i out of order but rather than debate it he just blocked me, which is further testament to his character.

His morning show is so far and away the best racing media outlet it's not funny. I think being a smart dude always gets mistaken for arrogance. He actually understands issues and can ask the tough/right questions of industry participants and doesn't kiss ar^e like the rest of the racing media.

As for bagging sportsman's nights it is 2013 I find these nights cringe worthy too. Did they have strippers and jelly wrestling there?

Doesnt seem to ask too many of Tabcorp/Sky.
Has he ever tweeted anything is on TVN, ever rapped them? When races are on both he tweets about Sky only
Say again, never once have i seen any mention of a victorian caller despite the well documented stuff ups recently, so apparently working on radio where the vic callers work and not mentioning anything about their stuff ups is not being biased, so which one is it, one minute he is the  unbiased and i know he isnt.

I read some of his tweets and can't recall any that bag race callers...can't imagine that would be in the best interests of his profession, nor would it go down to well with his employer...seems weird that he would do something like that tbh..

I rate him.

Some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth can only be sourced with proper research and experience. He does his honework and does not go through the motions of the other crap "journos" like Bruce Clark and others on TVN.

yeah agree Paz, his euro knowledge is always worth a listen imo...him and Andrew Le Juene and Michael Maxworthy are the kings of overseas form talk imo.

Intelligence is often confused with arrogance because people have an inferior complex and when you don't understand someone who is more intelligent than you it feels patronising.
 
But I'd like to think I know the difference.
 
I've been to Carbine Club luncheons in the past and they've had fantastic comedians like Vic Sorrenti. He's as politically incorrect as they get yet he brought the house down.
 
If Anderson was the only one in the room not laughing at something similar, I'd suggest he's a wowser, which is very Melbourne, to use his terminology.
 
I agree he's the closest thing to a real journo and doesn't overtly sweep issues under the rug or suck up to the big profiles.  But I'm not ready to agree he asks all the hard questions.  He was noticeably MIA when the Oliver scandal hit and had the opportunity to grill a few of the involved parties and did a poor job in my opinion.  The MVRC CEO took him to task on it and he argued the toss.

I enjoy the ego hour for a laugh on the way to work.. it's entertaining if nothing else.

It's not easy to manage public opinion, as I well know. If you let the audience have their say, through tweets and the like, you definitely need to be skilled at how to manage it. We've developed a good management policy here on public opinion that has stood the test of time, 13 years no less. You don't learn these things overnight.
